your most despised books Or authors
Just as it easy to come up with your ten favourite books so too must you be able to come up with at least one book you have read through and then realised as you walkled away from it. 'Why did I insist in punishing myself with this?'

Of course when a reader starts a book and realises it's rubbish, the author doesn't know his/her topic, or whatever they are prone to put it down. Quite natural wouldn't you say? But what about the ones that snuck up on you? Or were forced on you?

Well, uni course requirements was the reason I had to read through DH Lawrence's 'Women in Love.'

What a mind cringing, I-may-be-male-but-I-know-what-a-woman-is-thinking/feeling, assumptive chauvinstic pile of. . . I could go on.

Another dislike you have encountered would perhaps have being: 'Great book, shame about the character' Again Women in Love jumps up cerebrally as well as Anita Brookner's Frances in Look At Me.

Oh puh-lease! Frances. If you had accepted your attributes from the beginning you wouldn't have ended up being kicked in the mouth so hard. A little assertion goes some way. There are one or two more but my memeory fails me. I'd love to hear what others have to say to look out for - and avoid!!!
