Re: what do you take into the field
I used to take alot of stuff, but that has changed drastically over the past year. I used to take a bionic ear, tape recorder, two-way radios, disposable camera, polaroid camera, camcorder, notebook, and extra batteries.
After lugging all that stuff around, I have cut it down to just a notebook, and a disposable camera.
If someone forks out the cash for nightvision I think they should have that with them. I've used other people's nightvision alot. Of course I never got anything more than a big bright spot burned into my retna from looking through it, or a tired arm from holding it up. I am looking into getting an Aurora DNV handheld. Digital nightvision, and can be used during the day. It can plug into a vcr, or television monitor, I think it would be pretty handy, and I'd like to pick up a regular digital camera with a good zoom lens. I'd also like to pick up a good gps unit for marking different areas where I find sign. I think the least amount of stuff the better, unless you have a base camp to set stuff up at. Regardless, the old fashion paper and pencil comes in real handy.

Re: what do you take into the field
digicam, micro recorder, ir thermometer, emf meter, walkies (if not alone) BATTERIES, beef jerky, dried fruits, water, first aid kit, maglight, compass and pocket knife.

if it's an overnight, i have camping gear that stows pretty small, except for the sleeping bag of course, but that all stays in the car till i know i need it.

No one carries a game finder? It's an Infrared tracking device for those who are unfamiliar with it.

I personally dont own one, but it's on my list of things to buy. I have used one in the field many times, and it is definately a great asset. It at least lets you know if there's something warm out there and that you aren't just hearing things. Nothing like thinking there's a squatch near by and pointing the game finder in the direction and watching it light up like a christmas tree. :lol

well, i could see how it might help me with my investigations, but more to rule out possible mundane explanations, as opposed to apparitions and stuff, since most of my "quarry" is not physical.

Flippity. Floppity Flip. The mouse goes round the mobius strip. The strip revolves. The mouse dissolves in a chronodimensional slip.

For Day Hunts, I usualy Bring Bonculars,Knife, Gun, and thats about it. I usually wear a scent masking scent. Usually a coyote or bobcat one. I dont think its a good idea to use Deer Scent since Bf's like to eat them.

For Over Night, I bring the usualy camping stuff or my dads RV is there are hookups.

Night Hunting, 1st Gernation Hand Held Night Vison,6 Million Candle Spot Light. Gun. and I always bring some one with me, what can I say, Im a scaridy cat when Im in the woods with a few Bfs stomping around......
