soreness
ok, i have pushed my limits in the gym for the last few days like darrin said but i can't function now the soreness is unbearable. is there anything i can do to stop being uncomfortable? this can't be right.
This pain will occur only this week, your body will adapt to your new level of intensity and you will not be this sore next week. Other than sucking it up, you can try contrast showers. Target the sore muscle with water as hot as you can handle for about 1 minute while stretching the muscle. THen spray cold water (as cold as you can handle) on the muscle for 1 minute. Do this back and forth for about 10 minutes or so. You could also take an anti inflamatory.
IF you are this sore it kinda makes you wondering what you were doing before??? Welcome to working out Remember, the goal is to totaly fatigue the muscle in the gym, not to be sore. Like I said earlier, this is a short term effect of intense training.
Re: soreness
Monica brant has a saying that goes something like this " leg day, no pain, no short skirt."
she is a pro figure gal....
pain is a good thing.....if you aren't sore the next day you haven't worked hard enough and therefore wont get sexy curves....cry if you have to...sleep an extra hr do what it takes...YOU CAN DO IT!!!
Re: soreness
When I was new to weight training I used to be sore like crazy. These days...not anymore. Maybe a bit tender but nothing major. I think if you are too sore...read can't walk the stairs or trying to sit on toilet makes you scream in pain...you did some major damage..in my opinion that is. My motto is "Train smarter not harder" You have to work hard enough to stimulate your growth but not to tear your muscle down.Just me talking....
And growing up is not an absence of dreaming
Its being able to understand the difference between
The ones you can hold and the ones that you've been sold....Jewel
Re: soreness
Nothing wrong with being sore but it isnt the goal. You can be sore for days after a deep tissue massage but your arent going to get "bigger" from it. Often being sore after working out is due to tiny tears in the muscle but more often it is from doing a new movement and using muscle in a way they find different. Also stretching the muscle, going a little lower on sqauts or bench and stretching the muscle farther than it is accustom.
THe main goal in the gym is to fatigue the muscle so you can not perform another rep in good form. If you hurt the next day mission accomplished, if you dont hurt the next day mission accomplished! As long as you fatigued the muscle you accomplished your goal.
Another little addition, a lot of people have sore muscles all the time due to poor recovery and over training. They dont feed or give the muscles enough rest and they continue to break down causing muscle loss over time.
