jeep rubicon 2003
Hello folks , I am hoping to purchase a new jeep and am wondering is it worthwhile to wait for the rubicon to hit the market or just purchase now ? Will the differences in the Rubicon be that good as to make it worth the wait ?
thanks in advance for any advice,

if you are going to buy a new wrangler it might be worth it, it will depend what you are going to do with it.
1. if you are planning to build a comp wrangler it would be a great starting point....or
2.You want to have a wrangler straight upwith all the mods that most people to to the jeep when they first buy it eg.
31 x 10.5 tires 2inch lift side panel gaurds aprox $3000 then agian go for it.
Now how did you get a name like that? Not that it matters. Anyways on to your Q. It's all sort of a wait and see type deal I think. Like anything that comes out of the factory it may not be worth how much they are going to charge you for it. Not sure what the cost is going to be when it's released over here. I've heard around $45K. If you bought a TJ now for say $30K, for that extra 15 you could build something as good if not better than the Rubicon. And it will be more enjoyable to start from scratch and watch it grow. Just my thoughts. And can you wait that long?

If you're NOT going to go hard core - I probably wouldn't bother.
If you ARE goignt o go ful-on hardcore then I wouldn't bother....
Basically most Jeepers wouldn't make use of the level of capability this rig would have - or would drive it locked in appropriately....
Those that want to go really hard would be better servered buying an older TJ and starting from there.....
Bet if we see the rubi it'll be pushing $50k...unless the aud:usd improves a bit more....

I reckon ,buy now for say $30k, go to the Cape and do the Aussie trail. Come back with all the information you have gathered and build an Aussie Jeep for maybe $10k to $15k in refinements and essentials (4.11 ratios 44's good pro lift. longer trailing arms, special long reach shocks and good shocky rubbers and attachments, diff guard and all the armour you can find, nerfs included) After all how often will you get to take it on the Rubicon Trail ! Our needs are different to the Yanks and on the trip around the Aussie trails you will need Aussie ideas not Rubicon tuned suspension and bits.
But it sounds like a collectors edition if you dont intend to investigate options and doing some serious Aussie off road trails , just do weekend jaunts.!!
I reckon Jeep needs to build the Bamaga Express or The Cape Express for the Aussie Market !!

someone said "locked in appropriately", apparently the lockers don't work in 2H, 0r 4H over 16kmh, same for Lo. I could be wrong, it was a DEALER who told me, we all know how reliable they are. LOL,
Rubicon= too expensive, no fun, the fun is in building YOUR OWN UNIQUE JEEP.
Vote 1 for a Wrangler Cape express
That's my opinion, I'm sticking with it

Still waiting to see if we even get the rubi....
If they are available, the wife might get a new TJ and I'll get a good source of parts

According to one of the 4x4 mags the Rubicon failed the design rules because the tyres were past the guards. That won't take much to fix so I expect they will arrive soon.
