yeah. those demos terrify me. He can stare down demons too ;)

And he supplied dw with one of its longest running jokes. Sadly one that many people fail to get as they don't remember its origin.

And he has kids... I wonder what happened to them....

So I'm a bad typist.

I've been wondering what happening to his kids too. Maybe they'll be in another book. Randoom thought- will the little luggages grow into bigger luggages, or will they stay small?

lots of little luggages
can u imagine a disk with dozens of little luggages, all with the built in temperament of a crocodile with a toothache, and many of them ownerless..
:\
thats the time to move to a new disk i think

(reminds me of TP's comment about "3 completely independant, failsafe emergency systems....")

Oi, don't be nasty, Squirel. The non-NZers just don't know that one. At least explain the back-story for them.

I'm a freak, an aggrivation. It seems I made the right decision.

TP, as u may or may not know, used to be a PR man for a number of nuclear companies (companies owning/ running nuclear power stations).

this means that he can no longer hear "3 completely independant failsafe systems" without laughing, and making travel plans to move to the next continent

logic really

:P

Re: lots of little luggages
At least one non-NZer (is that waht people from NZ are called 'new-zealanders'?) had heard it before... either on afp/abp or in Oxford.... I guess even TP doesn't have an infinite, non-repeating set of anecdotes...

Re: congrats
thanks.

There's lots to do on the IoM. The Manx national heritage has won european museum of the year several times, there's the TT and MGP motorcycle races, the open air site of the worlds oldest continuous parliament and examples of just about every temperate environment you can think of.

...if, however you were wondering what my job was, then our Tax Haven status means there's plenty of jobs around where I can apply my maths degree (you were right about that) and i'm training to be an accountant (I hope the rumors about accountants are false) with BoE.

have u heard the accountants shanty by monty python.
it may either confirm or deny u'r worries.

"it's fun to charter an accountant,
and sail the wide accountant sea.
To find, explore the funds offshore,
and skirt the shoals of bankruptcy.
It can be Manly, in insurance,
We'll up u'r premiums semi-annually

It's all tax deductable,
we're fairly incurruptable,
We're sailing on the wide accountant sea.

*spoken*
oh, isn't this fun mr conroy.
To port, to port sheree."

and so on and so forth.

:D

hope it helped:P

Re: accountants
Wonderful analogy! He he... I don't know if it will bring any comfort though, MP also kills off chartered accountants in large numbers... But I do hope you enjoy your job! If not, you can sink into your own private Discworld; there's always room for a thief named Rob!

Re: accountants
when did MP take out accountants (i saw them in the red countenance something at the beggining of the meaning of life (where the accountants shanty came from i believe, but that was the only time)

I did hear a comedian start a speech with "is anybody here in accountancy?.. Kiiiiiiiillll u'r selves...", but dont take it to heart rob

i would be scared if i sunk into my own discworld, cause it would be very similar to the back streets of ankh Morepork..

p.s. Rob, NZers are commonly refered to as "kiwis", after our native birds, and because it is more phonetically pleasing than new zealander.. u'r not from round here, so u'r ignorance is forgiven

Re: accountants
The jobs going reasonably well... no better or worse than expected, and its wonderful having money after so many years as a student.

I had heard newzealanders called kiwis (and I do know what one is... one was the star of New-Zealand Story), but I wasn't sure if it was vaguely insulting in any way.... better to be safe than sorry.

rob, who seems to remember that New Zealand Story had wonderful music, but can't actually remember what it went like

ironically rob, i've never ever heard of "New Zealand(2 words) story'.... weird aye.

Kiwi is fine as reference for a New Zealander, i'm pretty sure we made it up ourselves (though i'm not sure why we would want to be a small flightles bird...)

its just those damned Ausies (australians)u gotta watch out for

Re: lol
New Zealand Story was a game on the Amiga back in.... the late eighties... It was a platform game starring a kiwi who had to.... do stuff.

I knew two cheats for the game. One was 'fluffykiwis' The other was featured in computer mags as something like: 'motherf***ingkiwib***ards' I'm sure you can fill in the blanks.

rob, knowing that even if he manages to get hold of a copy it won't be as good as he remembers it
