Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
((Extracted through copy and pasting from the time lapse thread. It is all quoted, the ****** separates out the posts.))

Tehr walked Celest, leading her without pulling to he edge of the work area. He ignored the looks coming from the guards, that his slave, the one who had attacked another Drow, the looks that clearly asked why she was still able to walk.

He came to a stop, turning to Celest and staring at her "What do you see here?" he asked her.

**********************************************
Celest looked around suddenly wide awake, looking around at the other students, many her friends, many she didnt know. "I see.." she thought carefully about what she was saying, not knowing what the whole point of this was "I see people" she turned to Tehr, and eyebrow raised slightly "and what is your point?" she asked slowly.
**********************************************
Tehr looked around slowly, stepping closer to her his head shaking in disagreement with her.
"Not people, look closer at them and tell me what you see, tell me what they are doing." his voice had lost its demanding edge, even though the words were orders, his tone did not enforce that.
**********************************************
Celest looked back with an odd expression on her face, wondering where this was going. "They uh.." she looked to Tehr "they're working?" she asked quite puzzled at the moment.
**********************************************
Tehr looked back at the slaves, working hard, many cowering from the whips, carrying rocks to save their minds for casting into the solid stone they were digging through (soft stone of some sort) "Tell me Celestina, if I gave you your wand, put you back in there to work. What would you do?" He twirled her wand across his hand, through his fingers.

Not taking his eyes from a scene of a boy helping some badly hurt girl, a faint look of disgust on his face.
**********************************************
Celest stared down at the scene. She mumbled "I would heal alot of these people if possible" and she looked up into Tehrs eyes "Why on earth would you give me my wand back? Im much more powerful with my wand, would you want to take a chance that I wouldnt attack another guard?" she said one eyebrow still raised high in the air. "What do you want me to do?" she said curiously...
**********************************************
Tehr snapped his head back around to look at her, putrid yellow eyes lighting up with something.
"That is what I thought, you would not work would you? you would help them or you would attack us wouldn't you?" He paused a moment, "be truthful." he added as an afterthought.
**********************************************
Celest snorted "What do you think I would do? Your the smart one, you tell me!" she said grinning oddly "If you trust that I will work, try it, give me my wand...if you dont think I will work, and instead I will help them well thats fine!" she smirked, and awaited Tehrs response...
**********************************************
Tehr didn't answer, instead turning back to the slaves, delicate wand still spinnning over his hand, nimble fingers playing with it slowly.
"I know what Ryleigh would do, it is why she is not here as well. You would not work as they do, you would help them and if you were attacked, you would defend yourself wouldn't you?" He sounded genuienly interested, wanting to know this.
**********************************************
Celest nodded "Damn straight I would help them! And Tehr...dont you know by now that I would try and defend myself if attacked?" she said in a mock shock voice she shook her head slowly "So..yes I would defend myself, and yes I would help them all!" then once again she reapeated "Whats your point?". She watched as more and more of her friends and classmates where beaten or struggled to work.
**********************************************
"Do you know what I see when I look there? I see cattle, dogs, work-beasts. Nothing more and nothing less, when an animal refuses to work, it gets beaten for it." He turned back to look at Celest, keeping himself close and keeping his voice low.

"If you were down there, wand in hand, and were whipped, you would attack wouldn't you. You would defend yourself, just as Ryleigh would and you would fight us." Tehr turned back to look at the slaves.

"And these, these do not, they cower from the whip, huddle together with their wands out. 65 dogs and not one of them fights, they are broken the instant they fail to resist. And they have all failed to resist. Now then, what do you see down there that you would be willing to resist us for?"

((ooc: everybody else out there please don't think this is a hint or invitation to begin a resistance movement, it is not.))
**********************************************
"Well for starters when I look down there, I dont see dogs and cattle! I see people, good, caring, honest people! And when I look at you! I see dirty, cruel, stuck up creatures! They are worth resisting for you! I would defend them and myself anyday!" she said not taking her eyes off the rest.
**********************************************
Tehr half shut his eyes, clenching his fist, the only signs he was resisting his reflexitive lashing out at her.
"Why would you? why would you fight and die, because you would die for defending them, why would you fight for those things down there, those crippled bleeding animals who won't even lift a hand in their own defence."

He continued to watch them all, hard at work, running when ordered to run and work faster.
"And why aren't they defending themselves?"
**********************************************
Celest listend carefully to Tehrs words "Why would you? why would you fight and die, because you would die for defending them, why would you fight for those things down there, those crippled bleeding animals who won't even lift a hand in their own defence." Once again she resisted the urge to slap him, it would only cause more trouble, so she replied rather calmly "Why? Gee Tehr...out of friendship! Loyalty! Something you know nothing about! As one of the older students, I feel I must protect them! I honestly dont understand why on earth you would take 11-16 years olds and put them through such torture! Many here are only children!! And you beat them to a bloody pulp, hoping they will do your work for you...well yes most of them have been! But I wont! I just wont!" she said this all evry rapidly, making eye contact with Tehr "Why take children?" she asked him "why?"....
**********************************************
Tehr held his eyes on hers, again something travelling through those putrid pupils. "How many of them did you know before coming here? how many of them are your friends? How many of them do you owe your loyalty to?" He asked her slowly

He knew why they had attacked Hogwarts, he knew because he had planned the entire attack, not the target but the planning of it had been his.
"Hoping has nothing to with it, they are working, it was known they would, which would free us up to do our work instead of clawing through the earth. Look at them and tell me why you think we would take children, why we didn't take your mentors, why would we take the young?"
**********************************************

((and I am still working on it.))

Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Celest looked down again, "That is none of your bussiness, even if they were my worst enemy I would still defend them in a situation like this!" she said clearly. She looked back into Tehrs eyes, she mumbled out some sort of an answer, though it was hard to hear what she was saying. "I dont know....eerrr..." she thought quickly "probably because erm...as we grow older we will probably become stronger, and as adults grow older they will only become more weak?" she said wuth an awkard voice. Her eyebrows raised again, and she glanced down again at the students, and quickly up to Tehr again.

Re: Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Tehr scoffed, shaking his head very slightly, almost mockingly of her "And if they won't even defend themselves, you would still help them?" that just didn't work in his mind.

"But you are close, we do take children because they grow, because they have longer left to live, because they are weaker when we take them and grow in strength as the years go by." He paused looking back out over the area
"Back home we have many thousands of humans, all slaves to us, all snivelling wretched little animals, how do you think we gained such a large population of humans when we haven't raided your realm for well over a century, attacked yes, but raided over a hundred years."

Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Celest scowled heavily, and shifted her dirty hair out of her eyes. She glared at him, her eyes narrowed. "Yes Tehr I would! I dont know how many times Ive said it, I would defend them! Even if they wont defend themselves, someone needs to!" she said staring at him with pure hate in her eyes. "Why would I help them? Because I can! And Im want to! SO if you'll just hand me my wand..."she said making a attempt to grab it from Tehr.

Re: Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Tehr pulled his hand away from her grab easily, resisting again his reflex to hit her several ways, all of which would have sent her to the ground. "Don't do that again or I will have to hit you." he said simply, "I just want to know why" he said again "why you would fight for something like that, it makes no sense to me, dying for something so weak it won't even help itself."

Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Celest blinked rapidly "Go ahead hit me, you've already seen it hasnt done much good!" she snapped. She took in a deep breath "You will never understand why! And I will never tell you why, I dont need to explain to you the reason! I just would!" she snapped once more.

Re: Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
"I don't want to hit you" Tehr said at last, "But I would have to, there is a difference." He looked at her again, that shifting in his eyes clearer than ever now.

"I am asking you Celest, asking you to tell me"

Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Celest looked at the ground and bit her lip nervously. She muttered to herself, as if deciding whether or not to tell him. What would she get out of telling him? Celest couldnt think of any other reason not to, besides the fact that she didnt discuss it with anyone. She whiped a little tear from her eye and took a deep breath in "because-its the sort of thing my parents would have done! They would have defended anyone, as will I! Thats why!" she said still looking at the ground and nervously biting her lip.

Re: Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Tehr froze up again, staring at her and turning his head back to the slaves working hard.
"And mine would have slit my throat in my sleep to get a better house, they did it to my sister afterall, and I would do it to my own." He stopped, turning back to his slave, that shift of depth in his eyes complete now, thinking his point may have been made, uncertain though because he had only just seen it himself.

"They are nothing, they never will be anything, look down there again and tell me they are not weak, pathetic creatures."

Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Celest glanced back down towards the worksite. Her eyes took in everyone and everything. Turning back to Tehr she spoke clearly "They-are-not-pathetic-and they-are-not-weak!" she closed her eyes slightly, a lump forming in her throat "If you would do that to you own child, you wouldnt make much of a parent. My parents were good! They would do anything for me! And their strenght gives me strenght!" she said faltering slightly as she spoke about her parents.

Re: Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Tehr did not nod nor blink, nor show any outward signs of surprise at her or at himself.
"I see it now I think, you gain your strength from you parents love, Ryleigh gains hers from her love for another. That is not strength, that is reliance. Remove the thing that is relied on and watch the supposed strength crumble away" he thought aloud.

His head turned to watch, silently as three warriors 'escorted' a short haired girl from the worksite, walking her across the chamber to the dark circle. Tehr turned back to Celest
"Or at least, thats what I've always been told." he finished slowly.

Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Celest shook her head "Tehr I think you already know I have strenght or I wouldnt have lasted a second around here, If I didnt have strenght I would be crushed completely, like those people down their!!! I canot rely on my parents! They are dead! My strenght will never 'crumble' my hope will never 'crumble' and neither will my loyalty!" she statted rather more bravely then she felt at the moment "You have been taught wrong! I cant tell you that!" she said folding her arms and turning away from him.

Re: Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Tehr, still frozen watched her lips move, knowing the words even before she had fully said them, reading them in his eagerness. "I know you have, if you hadn't I would have slain you with the first strike in our little duel." He stopped, thinking of the ease with which he killed his own people. His foggy head refusing to work fully again.

"My eyes are clouded," he said oddly, "Look at those taskmasters and tell me what you see in them, tell me what you see in the faces of the Drow when they strike a slave."

Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Celest pondered for a moment "When I look at them....I see cruel and brutal beasts!" she turned, her face full of concern for the people below, being beaten. "Wait! Lazy, cruel and brutal beasts!" she bellowed out, still blinking rapidly.

Celest just realised how much her head hurt when she bellowed, or screamed, so she decided to speak in a very soft voice from now on....

Re: Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Tehr had een expecting that, the volume nearly making him flinch, Drow heads turning to have a look at the commotion, seeing Tehr they paused before turning back away. Only Ryleighs final sentence to him held the fist that had clenched and the knee that had twitched.
"Not lazy, if they were lazy they would simply pull a trigger, the bolts are far more painful than the whips. But yes, they take pleasure in what they do, I suppose they are cruel. More though, is there more?"

Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Celest bit her thumbnail nervously, as she thought. She had breifly rolled her eyes when Tehr claimed the Drow werent lazy, and as she looked back at them again, she wondered what on earth she was looking for.

She sighed tiredly and spoke in barely more than a whisper "Tehr I told you what I see in them.. I see cruel, inhumane, bloody bruts! What is it you want me to see in them?" she asked slowly shaking her head....

Re: Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Tehr didn't take his eyes off a Drow he had spotted, his whip lashing out across the back of some boy, the Drow's laughter audible from even this distance.
"weak" he answered her, something dropping inside as he said that to a mere human slave. "See them for what they are."

Re: Tehr and Celest (for now) ay the Worksite
Tehr sighed/growled in throaty exasperation, that was not what he had meant at all, he couldn't blame her though, afterall he did feel that way.
"my people are a weak people." He said, not wanting to allow more of his speech out than was totally necessary, "why do they use their whips so freely, why did they take you and Ryleigh and that other girl off to be tortured to death?"

Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Celest thought for a moment. The reason Ryleigh, and Celest had been dragged was because she and Ryleigh had been injured, and they had been caught trying to sneak away from work. But she didnt need to tell Tehr that, she quickly made something up "We were brought to the chambers Tehr, because we mouthed off to the guards" she said shifting slightly...

Re: Tehr and Celest (for now) at the Worksite
Tehr shook his head, knowing she was covering something, but that did not matter, it had not been relevant at the time either.
"no, you were taken because your absence would scare the others to work better, you were also taken to provide amusement for your torturer, to make him feel his was strong because he could do what he wanted to the three of you."

"He would have drawn satisfaction from it, a sense of power, is he strong because he can do this?"
