Report # 7371 (Class B)
Submitted by witness on Tuesday, November 11, 2003.

Deer hunter has multiple experiences on hunting lease.

YEAR: 2003

SEASON: Fall

MONTH: November

DATE: 11/8/2003

STATE: Oklahoma

COUNTY: Rogers County

LOCATION DETAILS: Will give more specifics upon contact. This is private land.

NEAREST TOWN: Chelsea

NEAREST ROAD: Old 66

OBSERVED: I have had three encounters thus far. My encounters involve vocalizations only, with a
little tree knocking between encounters.

At one time you had a sound file on your web site labeled "scream [1]" I downloaded this file two
years ago. This is the same file used in the Discovery Channel documentary on "Sasquatch Legend
meets science". Last Saturday evening my son and I were walking back to our vehicle after hunting in
the woods. We heard vocalization approximately 50-100 yards away in the thick timber. The sound
emitted was identical to the wave file I have loaded on my pocket PC. This time however the volume
and proximity of sound was more clear and discernable. This is the second time I have heard the
animal call. The first was roughly one year ago. Upon my second experience I noticed the later part
of the call was almost a mimic of an owl call.

ALSO NOTICED: Just the similarity between the vocalization and a recognizable owl call. The
beginning of the call is a high pitched monkey like sound, the end is bird like.

OTHER WITNESSES: Yes, four other adult men, and my 13 year old son.

OTHER STORIES: Yes, there is a lot of activity in this area. The four men who witnessed the sound
with me are serious Bigfoot hunters. They were investigating a possible foot print reported by the
landowner. I can give more details upon contact.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Dusk, 6:00 PM

ENVIRONMENT: Heavy timber with river bottoms. Open fields between timber.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Daryl G. Colyer:

I spoke with the witness about several Class B encounters that he has had over the last
few years. One of the incidents involving vocalizations occurred as recently as
November 2003.

The witness stated that he hunts deer on a piece of property of approximately 200
acres in Rogers County that is leased out to hunters. The landowner has also had
several experiences, apparently of both Class A and Class B categories. The witness
said that he has heard of other hunters having experiences while on the land, but the
individuals are not ones to discuss such matters.

The witness has heard vocalizations on several occasions on this property. The witness
described the vocalizations as being very similar in nature to the “Ohio Scream” as
heard and scrutinized on Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science. When the vocalizations
were recently heard, there were several other individuals present who also heard the
sounds. All agreed that the sounds could not be attributed to any documented bird or
animal. The witness went on to say that some of the vocalizations, while closely
sounding like the Ohio Scream, ended with a sort of “cooing” sound, almost bird-like in
nature, but primate-like as well. The witness had downloaded the Ohio Scream onto his
pocket PC and once the vocalizations subsided, he played the downloaded Ohio
Scream. He said the similarity was striking. Of additional pertinence, the landowners
too, have heard the screams. The witness played the Ohio Screams for the landowners
on his pocket PC and they were sure that they had heard the screams on a recurring
basis there on the property.

Were it not for the additional, possible bigfoot acitivity in the vicinity, and the witness's
use of the downloaded Ohio Scream, I would tend to classify the vocalizations heard as
barred owls. On occasion, barred owls will make sounds that seem to fit the description
given by the witness. In fact, barred owls are known to make sounds that can sound
primate-like and owl-like in the same vocalization. But not having heard the vocs, it's
difficult to say. Also, the other witnesses, ostensibly "bigfoot hunters" seemed to dismiss
birds as the originators of the vocs.

The witness has also heard wood-knocking at various times while on the property. I
asked the witness about the possibility of woodpeckers causing the knocking sounds,
and he stated emphatically that the sounds were not sounds associated with
woodpeckers. The witness described the sounds as “loud” and sounding like a
“Louisville slugger hitting the side of a tree.” The sounds apparently were three to four
extremely loud “whacks” with a “resonance to it” over a five second period. These
knocks also seemed to “surround” the witness – that is, have different points of origin in
relation to the witness.

I have conferred with Oklahoma BFRO Curator and bird expert Alton Higgins about
the possibility of Pileated Woodpeckers being the source of the wood knocking
sounds. We cannot rule out the possibility of Pileated Woodpeckers. They are very
large, powerful birds. Their hammering is loud and can sound like someone whacking a
bat against a tree. The slow rate of the hits that the witness mentions also sounds like
Pileated Woodpeckers, and they hang around in pairs, so it is not surprising that the
witness heard sounds coming from different directions. As to the possibility of humans
causing the sounds, the witness admitted that it was impossible to say for sure, but given
the nature of the property, it seemed unlikely.

I considered not posting this report - but I also considered the activity that the
landowner has ostensibly witnessed, albeit secondhand at this point. In addition, the
witness's immediate referral to the downloaded Ohio Scream convinced me to publish
this report as a legitimate Class B. That being said, the actual, visual identification of a
bigfoot has yet to be documented by the BFRO on this property, but the witness’s
credibility leads me to believe that the area is one of interest.

Re: new report rogers county from bfro
we at ghouli are involved in a video production company as well we did a segment for a tv pilot over bigfoot...we filmed on an indian reservation, and one of the residents had audio recording of what they swear is bigfoot, we spent the entire day about 16 hours there and had a great time....they say the creature can mimic cattle, birds, dogs even humans....i havent heard the recordings they are talking about here but from the description i would say that they are similar to the ones that i have, the guy let me make a copy of his tapes...pretty interesting

I think what you are talking about twister.
is that no matter how big a woodpecker is it does not sound like a large fence post being slamed against a tree.
(I`ve been up in the area many times and some of the tree knocking sounds like 2 large trees being slamed together)
am I close?

Re: new report rogers county from bfro
Okay, that's creepy. He said that the scream was punctuated by what sounded like owl vocalization. . . does anyone have a link to the Ohio Scream that was mentioned? The reason I bring this up is because of a recording I have of something similar out at Alberties Cemetery. A scream ending with repeated owl hooting. it did not sound like an actual owl, but someone immitating an owl, and quite well, i must say.

re:recording
That's pretty interesting Antigone. We've recorded that same thing in several different areas while researching bigfoot. I've also heard it without the hoots at the end, and I've heard the scream part by itself repeated over and over again as a "six foot owl" walked across the edge of a treeline. ;)

Re: re:recording
see, i didn't know that a: i was in bf territory when this happened, and b: that bf would make sounds like that. On the recording, it doesn't represent quite as well as i would like it how much it DIDN'T sound like an owl, it sounded like someone adept at mimicking an owl. To be honest, I thought it was a DVP of some kind of guardian out there. My team was trying to work our way past the barbed fence into the part that is rumored to have mounds instead of just headstones. Roger and I wanted to push on anyway, the rest of the team blanched at the sound and ran for the gate. Majority won and we didn't investigate it. DAMMIT!!!

Re: re:recording
Trees being slammed together? Remind me if I go out with you guys to bring the shotty and a full bandoleer of slugs and double-aught. Give us a better chance of getting away. Then again, kind of like the joke about the two backpackers and the bear- I don't have to outrun the bigfoot......
