New England. And if you don't mind me asking...

How the hell could you be undecided? The candidates couldn't be more opposite. What the @#%$!!!?!

Vote Nader.

Im a flippin moderate!

So here, if Kerry wins, we may have 8 years of him... not one of my favorites... (because the rep. are not going to be any better at finding competition in their next primary). And then if Bush wins we are guarenteed to have only 4 more years of someone who has not handled things as well as he could have.

And Nadar, unless there are enough people to vote for him... and we all know there wont be... well....

So, yeah I am undecided in the Pres. race, but am ready to go with local elections

I'm just a tool in someone elses self-fulfilling prophecy

Ok, here's a summary:

Bush: backstabber. trying to use 'vote for me because he sucks'. only interested in himself and the rich americans.

Kerry: the same

Nader: the one with at least some vague ideas. repressed by the other two. will never make it.

He did much better than I thought he would, although, John Kerry also did better than last time also. Bush kept running right over Charles Gibson and bullying him around, I defiantly did not like that and I hope that people turned it off right after one of the ones where the president started to yell. That would great since they would walk away angry at Bush.

Since a while ago (a few decades), the system in the states is becoming more and more of a soap series instead of a serious political government. It will get worse and worse until the revolution comes.

This election will result in a president who can't tie his own shoelaces even with instruction booklet and personal trainer. Whether Bush wins or Kerry wins, do you really think you'll be happier in the future?

Re: What's all this then?
still not ready for voting, but wanting it to be over.

The debates were interesting. Anyone notice that Kerry never ever said anything that would tick anyone off... he got cought on the abortion one, there is no way to make everyone happy there.

Course Bush has to admit where he stands... he has been in the spotlight way to long... We just know his falibilities better than Kerrys...

I think my basic problem is I dont trust either of them... They are politicians... I do like a politician who is willing to take a stand though. Saying..."I really respect your morality, I am a Catholic, I cant say I wont spend tax money on abortions"...

And no one really addressed the stem cell question...just threw rhetoric at it.

Re: What's all this then?
Over here in Holland we get taxed up to 65% of our income (in the highest scale, yes). What is everyone there whining about?

Again, lower taxes lead to less health care, less elderly care, a less solid retirement system, less education, less morality, more violence, less security and also less abortion.

If I were you, cherith, I wouldn't vote for Bush or Kerry if you don't trust them. Nader is the one with the actual ideas. He would be my best choice in any case.

You are right there, but voting for him is POINTLESS, b/c third-party presidents never win. One has never won in American history, and one probably will never win unless the party system here changes dramatically. The reality: pick the lesser of the 2 evils.

I know that voting for him is pointless, also because he gets less air time than the other two candidates. If only the average american started to think. I'd vote for him, just to make a stand.

No more TV, the strong survive and the weak die, like in the days of the cavemen. That would work.

Re: What's all this then?
yep I did... Not the greatest reason, but I am voting for two new candidates in 2008. And now focusing on local races.. we have some doozies here too.

I watched the Debates and tried to get my mind on being as objective as I could... and I heard nothing but sound bites and arse bites... So I finally decided neither one was worth the trouble... (knew that all along)

Anyone have any local race that is interesting? Here there is lots of campagning on the Fair National Tax plan the Rep. have going. 23% federal sales tax on everything and no more IRS. There would be cosiderations made for poor and elderly... but the rich would be the ones who would be getting the deal... I mean, even when Bill Gates is on a spending spree, he is not spending as much as he would otherwise be paying in taxes.

I wish we could just do the flat tax... how nice... ah well....

and Niwi... I think USians are affraid the if we let govt. take care of the poor and elderly that they will do a terrible job. We are rather controling and individualistic around these parts...

I have some good ideas... was telling them to my X last night, he said...why dont you run... I said cause I have a brain in my head...

Well you have petals-on information about the mentality over there. Looks like it's every man for himself over there already, and because the states are the country that is the most advanced, the rest will follow in your footsteps I'm afraid.

Best thing to do would be indeed to create LLB, make silly TV so we get lots of air time, and when they are familiar with our faces, we run for president.

I dont know this term... I am assuming it means something like first hand knowledge?

well, I would hope that mentality would not dominate the world. It has some benefits... but it really needs to be balanced with a community focus... and that comes from the democrats.

Remember, I live in the south... we tend to be very fundamentalist down here.. bible belt and all... so I see the most conservative view overall... we still have CA, NY etc....

US is balanced with both perspectives, and I have hope that that conflict will provide ultimate balance...

Re: What's all this then?
petals-on refers to you being a flower, namely an unanalyzed bloom of confusion. The original term is hands-on.

Look at it this way: you have the most prosperity in the world, according to my father who has been in the states several times yours is twice as big as the prosperity in the netherlands. What reason is there for anyone to fight for anything when he can either buy it on the internet or get it for free? People will take things too much for granted. Over here we are tending towards that mentality too, within a few decades or less we will have reached the same point you're at now. After us, it will be eastern europe and maybe south america.

A good way of telling how advanced a society is is by looking at how fat the average person is. the fatter, the more advanced. Sorry to say, but that's the way it is.

hehe, I got the pettals on once you posted the answer to my rose question on Lyns. ..

Fattest huh? Well I am not very prosperous...

I tend to think we will lose our prosperity one day... Its not a given that we get to keep it you know... England has had the longest run with prosperity I think....

Sometimes I am proud to be from the states, at other times.. not so much.
