That does it! I can't take this bull any longer!! When I signed up to the Mob, they were acting more like a bunch of pirates than a regular Mob. I didn't mind that; steal a few creds, wreak havoc...nothing I haven't done back on Plunn-Dar, but I had limits. The drug ring, I could basically handle since people made their own choices. The sex stuff was another story. I mean, prostitution's one thing but rape was totally another! Plus, there are some people who take that stuff real serious. Just ask Dragor.
Dragor...thank the gods he's behind bars! Although...he's a good guy, compared to Mon*Star. Yea, Dragor may be a serial rapist, but at least he had some predicitablity. Chauvanistic, only wants women who had reached puberty. Mon*Star, on the other hand, will screw anyone at anytime--man, woman, boy, girl. Anything. Now, I've put up with this sh*it since the Mob Elite came, but no more. I've watched and observed and have had enough! I gotta get outta here before I get dragged into it. It's almost happened once. Don't ask how; long story.
Well, the Zoomer's still intact. Now, to--
"Hardware!" Aw crap! It's Yesman!
"Eh, waddaya want, snake face?" I snapped.
"Where are you going?" he asks. Oh brother.
"Freelancing, where else?"
"Again? Don't you remember what happened last time you went behind the Boss' back?"
"I remember. I'll bring him his cut."
"Okay..." As I drove the Zoomer, I couldn't help but wonder about something. We've all changed since the Elite came back, but Yesman's stayed the same. I wonder....? Well, good-bye, Limbo!
(Yesman)
As I watched Hardware leave, I wondered about something. The only place to freelance is Bedlama, which is the opposite direction of where Hardware's going. Huh, what do you know? He finally did it; he up and left the Mob. I was wondering when the time came. I noticed he was getting quite uncomfortable with the Elite, especially Glycerin. Oh, well, can't blame him. I slithered my way back to the throne room and acted like nothing's going on. All of a sudden, Mon*Star bursts in. Ah, now for a little game of pretend.
"Yesman, where's Hardware?" he bellows. Gotta buy Hardware some time.
"I don't know, Boss." I lie. Amazing how easy it is for me to lie to him like that. He really thinks I'm broken, but that isn't the case. "Want me to send a Skyshadow to search for him?"
"Of course! He'd better not be freelancing again!"
"Yes, Boss. Certainly, Boss." I 'send' a Skyshadow out and waited about an hour before telling Mon*Star he's freelancing on Bedlama. He just growled and decided to wait for him to come with his cut, then left. Good, he doesn't suspect a thing! Stupid Mon*Star. So arrogant and haughty. He really doesn't know I'm working against him now; just playing the role of the 'yesman' to hide my true purposes. Ah, well, I bought Hardware enough time to get out of Limbo. Sure hope he enjoys his new life.

Before leaving Limbo, I decided to stop by the Sini*Star Diner for a Limbo Cooler. It would be a long time before I could drink one of those again. I also hoped to cross paths with a certain Mykari female. I needed to talk to her about some important stuff before heading to Earth. While I was there someone caught my eye. A female Saurian. A pterodactyl to be precise. She noticed me too and headed over to my table.
“Mack! It’s good to see you!”
“Great to see you too, Pterra. How’s it going?”
“I’m doing pretty good. Better than I was before thanks to Rakuna. Well, since you’re here, I might as well introduce you to my nephew.” When I looked up from my drink I saw a large, purple Saurian heading to our table. At least he looked like a Saurian. Something was off about his though. His eyes were shaped kind of funny and he had external ears, which were long and pointed. He also had fangs and a slender build. That’s when I realized this guy had to be part Vamp.

Re: Love and Laughter: Double Time
"So this is the legendary son of the Saurian Cassanova." I commented. He seemed kinda agitated when I said that.
"I'm a lot of things," he remarked. "But my dad's not one of them."
"Sorry." I said. "So, your mother Echo?"
"That's what she's called, yea."
"Ah, I see."
"So, Aunt Pterra's told me a lot about you. Used to live on Plunn-Dar, huh?"
"Yea. I used to take care of illegits on the homeworld, until I got caught. They exiled me for it, as you can see."
"How awful! Plunn-Dar's not a good place to be, I imagine."
"Not if you're illegit. No offense."
"None taken. I better get going. Later, Aunt Pterra. Nice to meet you, Mr. Hautagar."
"Call me Mack. Everyone does."
"Bye, Damian!" Pterra said. As Damian left, I wondered how in the world did a kid like him get a father like Dragor? Lousy luck, I guess. I focused my attention to Pterra.
"So, how's Rakuna?" I asked.
"He's turned himself over to the ThunderCats." she explained. "They've forgiven him, more or less, but he's on probation."
"Oh..."
"Weasel's happy, though. Those two shouldn't have been enemies in the first place, but circumstance said otherwise."
"What about you?"
"I got accquited for all of that junk, but I ain't taking chances. I'm staying in Limbo for a while. Maybe get myself some therapy."
"Okay, Pterra."
"What about you? Rakuna told me you were running with the local Mob here."
"Not anymore."
"What? But I've heard of these creeps, Mack! They won't let you leave!"
"And you think that'll stop me? Not a chance. I'm going and that's final! I'll see ya around. Give Rakuna my best."
"Ok..." I walked out of the diner. I know I seemed a bit unfriendly at the time, but I was in a hurry. On the way out, I ran into another familiar face. "Hey, I was wondering when I'd run into you."
"Hello, Hardware." Lynei said. "Or should I say Mack?"
"How long were you standing there?"
"Long enough. So you're leaving the Mob. It's about time; personally, I think you're too good for those yungars."
"You've heard?"
"I don't have ears for nothing, especially with a Sound Element enhancing them."
"So, what is it you want?"
"What do you say we talk for a while? Not here; Mistress Zantara wants a word with you."
"And she wants to talk to me because...?"
"You're the most decent guy in the Mob. Why wouldn't we talk with you?"
"Okay, I can spare a few minutes."
"Follow me." I followed her to the Hav'Throth's secret base. When I got there, I found Lenaria waiting for me. We talked a little while. Turns out she's been spying on the Mob ever since she quit that job on Sundance. I learned why she dropped that job in the first place.
"The MATI have been making matters much difficult for us." she explained. "Ever since our second failure to dispose of that ta'tori, we've been reconsidering our place with them."
"And...?" I said.
"And we feel that it would be best to stay in hiding until something happens to the MATI that will weaken them."
"If you want out, why don't you just plow your way out?? You got a lotta power."
"But the MATI's priests have more power. We can't risk our letting them know we've deserted them."
"And yet you dropped that job on Sundance."
"We told Ataka that she was becoming too powerful; that we needed to take time to figure out a strategy. All he said was to hurry. But I have a feeling that by the time their real power is shown, the Child of Light can handle things."
"What do you mean?"
"It's a long story, and I doubt you have time to hear it. Lynei has informed me you are heading somewhere."
"Earth. How did you..."
"She told me via telepathy. Lots of Mykari practice this art, no matter their Element."
"Okay, now to the point; what does this all have to do with me?"
"We need your help in matters that are non-magical. Ranito is an artisan in his field of weaponry, but he can only do so much."
"In other words, you want me to join the Hav'Throth."
"Only as an ally. Accept the offer and I can immediately get you to Chicago."
Re: Love and Laughter: Double Time
Our business arrangement worked out pretty well, for me at least. In no time I was settled in Chicago. I didn’t dare hook up with the Chicago Mob because word could get back to Mon*Star about my whereabouts. I did make a few friends and connections in the area though. Even hooked up with some street kids and gave some of the older ones jobs so they could make some money legally and stay out of trouble…well for the most part. Things were pretty quiet for me there until some of the weirdness going on in connection to other Mob members started popping up on Earth. It all started when one of the kid’s working for me showed up with a couple adult magazines.
“Hey, Mack!” Detour shouted as he burst into my shop. That’s what we called him since he always seemed to be able to find a way out of a bad situation. Anyway, he came stumbling over to me with these mags and a couple of the other kids gathered out of curiosity. “Guys, you’ve got to see this Playboy and Penthouse! You won’t believe how hot this chick is!”
Re: Love and Laughter: Double Time
I immediately examined one of the mags. Is that ECHO?! Jesus, she's changed! She was such a highly respective bounty hunter, both on Plunn-Dar and Limbo! That was until she went after Dragor, who turned her into his own personal pet. Gods, how she's fallen. I know there are some people in Limbo--particularly a certain Warden--who's out to get her and make her pay for whatever Dray did to his mate. Sheesh, I know he's upset by the whole deal, but something that happened over twenty years ago? You'd think he'd move on by now. Well, for some reason, Lynei developed a soft spot for him. Maybe she feels bad for him, I don't know. Whatever the reason, she has some compassion. But rumor has it the Lockup is doing everything he can to threaten Echo; even to go so far as to hire mercenaries to get her. This is weird. Oh boy...
"Well, what are you looking at?" I barked at the crowd. At that, the kids went back to work. Detour looked like he was about to say something, but decided against it. I asked if he had gotten a copy of the Bedlama Star, somehow.
Re: Love and Laughter: Double Time
It just so happened that he did. Probably got a copy off the net. There wasn’t really anything major being reported. And nothing I didn’t already know about. Mentioned Echo’s spreads for those two mags and something about an interview on holovision that was going to be aired soon. And there was a something about a musical sponsored by the Intergalactic Rainbow Coalition on Bedlama. Something called ‘The Wiz.’ Over all, it was full of stuff I wasn’t really interested in. The really interesting stuff was going on out of sight. Who know it would all be brought to light soon. And I’d never have guessed it would involve the Hav’Throth. Edited by: Detia1 at: 6/5/02 8:31:44 pm
We fled right into the metaphysical realm. After all this time, we had finally gotten a job. It was from some female mutant. We had no idea how she got hold of a summoning candle, but what she paid us in advance caused us not to care. We also got ourselves a normal target; Mon*Star, the Planet Master. This should be interesting. Lenaria has wanted to get a piece of him forever! We all did. From our observations, we figured that he wasn't such a huge threat, even with his mind control spell. As soon as we burst into Brim Star, we immediately attacked. We were in battle for who knows how long, but it was a very long and bloody battle. We didn't kill Mon*Star, but we did severely weakened him. It was all at a terrible price, though; Lenaria was fatally wounded in the battle and barely had enough strength to return us to the metaphysical realm, where she died. In her last breath, Lenaria told us to get ourselves to Reuin's workshop.
Reuin was a friend of Lenaria's, and had a shop of sorts in Gatri colony. When we came in with Lenaria's body, Reuin handed us a data crystal. It contained Lenaria's last will and testament, which left me with her skull gem and control of the Hav'Throth. Reuin was easily able to surgically remove the skull gem from Lenaria's head and gave it to me. I must confess, it is rather unsettling that I hold a Mykari's skull gem. But then something strange happened. The skull gem merged with my own! That gave me access to Lenaria's Element and magic. I could go through the metaphysical realm without an absorbance crystal. But the merging of skull gems only happens among se'uta'kin (sisters of soul). I knew Lenaria and I were close, but I'd never imagine...once I had gotten settled into my new powers, I had Lenaria's body moved to Earth. Our reputation forbade us from going to the sacred lake on the homeworld, so we had to make do with a similar ocean on Earth.
Lynei contacted me to tell me what had happened. She asked me if I knew any female Tricerons. I told her ‘no.’ I had no idea who that was who made that deal with the Hav’Throth. If I heard anything I would let her know. I kind of smiled to myself when she told me that Mon*Star will be out of the fight for a while. I wasn’t happy at all when she told me that Zantara had died. I was very honored when Lynei invited me to her funeral.
Re: Love and Laughter: Double Time
On the day of the funeral, Lynei picked me up and took me to the Dead Sea in Asia. Lynei explained to me the funeral customs of her people, the Mykari. The body is loaded in a barge, which is burned by a fire arrow shot by the closest relative. Zantara had no real family, so the arrow was shot by Lynei. They chose the Dead Sea for a location because their reputation won't let them near the original sacred lake on the Mykari homeworld. I think that was the only time I ever saw Lynei shed any tears. I mean, not to insult her or anything, but she's not one to show emotions often. Sometimes I wonder if she ever had any, until today.
"You two were really close, huh?" I asked Lynei as the barge burned. We were supposed to stay present until the entire barge was ash.
"Yes." Lynei whispered, just so I barely heard. "We were."
"I'm so sorry."
"So am I."
"What happens now?"
"We stick with our deal, as planned. But, I feel there will be some changes done, changes which we'll need your help on."
"Hey, you know you can count me in."
"On the Mimian homeworld, there's an ESP talisman kept by the MATI to block their mental waves from the Mykari military probers. We're planning to steal it and expose them."
"And you're going to need my help?"
"Correct. The Mykari have lost many citizens to us, to the MATI because of mixed lineage. One of them was a respective ambassador and very close to the house of Xetrato."
"What's that house got to do with anything?"
"The halfling you call Hotwing is a part of that house."
"Oh. So, where's this ESP talisman located?"
"In the heart of a temple to Wenbaran, the MATI's god. The temple is located in Tch country, near the Ataka mansion."
"Tch country? That's Lord Ataka's home, am I correct?"
"Yes. The MATI has the strongest hold on Tch country; their weakest hold is in Wua country. So, are you in or out?"
"I'm in."
"Good. We'll hold a meeting in your shop, is that ok?"
"Yea, sure. But it'll have to be at night; my charges get to bed at midnight and I don't want them involved."
Re: Love and Laughter: Double Time
The meeting was pretty much straight forward. Using her shadow porting spell, Lynei would get me in and out of the Temple. The stealing part was all up to me. I figured it should be a pretty easy job to pull. At least I hoped it would be.
Re: Love and Laughter: Double Time
"Waetar will be able to shield your presence in the temple." Lynei continued. Luckily for us, her comrades Waetar and Ranito understand English, but they speak it with a stronger accent than Lynei. "Ranito, you need to be lookout in case any El Undars show up."
"Yes, Mistress Tarin." Ranito replied. I knew for a fact he had a big crush on Lynei, but for some reason he stopped going after her. I guess the mantle of leadership turned him off to her. Well, she must be glad of that. We immediately set to work.
I soon found myself in a blood red temple. In the very center, was a talisman. I took it, replaced it with a fake, gave out a singal for me to get to the metaphysical realm, and was off. It was flawless. I would've thought it was too easy except for one thing; Lynei sensed a concentrated amount of dark power in Hnn country. That was why the temple was so easy to break into. She examined the talisman.
"It's the same one, all right." she said. "I think the Mykari government is going to have a lot of fun with the MATI, don't you agree?"
"Oh, I sure do." After that job, things were pretty much back to normal with me. Months later, Dragor finally died, but by mysterious circumstances. They didn't even do an autopsy. Hmm, I guess they hated him more than I thought. I know that Lockup wasn't too happy with the results. He even went after Echo with the aid of a Mykari mercenary called Ta'Ran-Shan, a psychobitch with a Light-Heart Element combo. Lynei told me what happened to that; he tried to put Echo through the same pain and humiliation as Dray did his mate, but Lynei managed to stop him before he got to the latter. After that, I heard that his reputation in Limbo was in shambles and that he ended up blasting his brain's out on his mate's grave. Oh boy...what people don't let go.
There were other things in Limbo that was happening that were much happier; the time Dragor showed me Brightlight and Sundance as a couple, I doubted that things would go further. Next thing I know, I'm hearing about their wedding from Waetar, who learned about it during a trip to Bedlama. Don't ask. Oh boy!! It wasn't until shortly after that that I was called upon to do another favor for the Hav'Throth involving the newlyweds and Martians.
When I was told what happened to my future mate I was shocked and devastated. It was like I was sitting in the midst of a living nightmare as Qubo told me that Keedra had taken his own life. All because his ex-girlfriend rejected him. I couldn’t understand it. Keedra knew I was waiting for him to return to Mars so we could finally marry. Why couldn’t he just come back home to me? The only comfort I had at the time was Virgil, Keedra’s good friend and fellow SilverHawk. Then disaster struck again and I was without another friend. I don’t know what happened to Virgil. I was now truly alone. Qubo abandoned me and my family disowned me. All because I was pregnant with Keedra’s baby without having been married to him. Everything would have been fine if Qubo had done what any responsible living brother would have done. Taken me to be his wife and help take care of and raise his nephew as his own. That’s what my family expected him to do, but Qubo said I wasn’t worthy of him and that I was unattractive. I ended up in a home for unwed mothers. I thought my fate was sealed until I met with a stranger who would change my life forever.
When Lenaria first told me about the poor lover of Qubo's brother, I was shocked. Ever since I got her skull gem, I was able to contact her spirit for guidance. She told me about Olyame, who was with an illegitimate child. Normally, we Mykari don't associate with the likes of Martians because of their manner towards all females, but this was a special case. That bastard Qubo was the one who enslaved Lenaria all those years ago and we both wanted payback. So, per her instructions, I met up with Olyame and set up a deal; we would help get her settled along with Mack, who would help raise her child, and she would tell me everything she knew about Qubo and his trades. It turned out he had quite a posse, one of them being his only surviving relative, a cousin. So, the instant we got Olyame settled, we attacked.
We slaughtered every yungar there and we even ruffled up Qubo's feathers a bit, so to speak. He had contacted his cousin shortly after our attack began. I took the liberty to let Lenaria tell him off. I didn't know how he reacted to Lenaria being alive through me, but she did say that I should've seen his face when he figured it out. Plus, there was no immediate need to kill him; he made the mistake of going after Sundance only to have her mate retailiate with a castration. Good going. Also, it wouldn't be long before Qubo and his pet bodyguard were caught by the SilverHawks in Limbo. Anyways, once we finsihed the attack and freed any surviving slaves, we used the blood of those bastards to give out a message; that the Child of Light was under our protection and anyone who dared to harm her would answer to us (if they survived her and her mate, that is). I signed it with the Hav'Throth emblem.
With that done, I dropped Ranito and Waetar back to Earth to check up on Olyame. I, on the other hand, wanted to see Qubo get his in Limbo. His trial shouldn't be too far ahead, and I longed to see him get what was coming to him. I planned on being there for both his trial in Limbo and his intergalatic trial. Perhaps I could even prove his crimes against Lenaria. Criminal or not, she was still a Mykari female, and the ultimate violation against her would result in his immediate death. Of course, if the law decides to turn the other way, I could always provide some sort of accident for him to expire on...
After I gave Lynei the information she needed, she kept me posted on what was happening to Qubo. I was so glad when that creep got what he deserved. It didn’t take long for me to get settled with Mack. I was glad to be away from Mars. The only thing I was uncomfortable with was all those young boys living there. A couple of them kept staring at me, especially one called Detour. He always had this hungry look in his eyes whenever he was around me. Fortunately, Mack told him to keep his hands off me. He took Macks advice, but he still flirted with me every chance he got. As if I didn’t have enough guys hitting on me, another guy, a Mykari, showed up at Mack’s shop one day. He said he was here with another Mykari to check up on my for Lynei. When the Mykari male called Ranito started to flirt with me, it made me so uncomfortable. I wasn’t used to getting hit on because I wasn’t considered very attractive where I came from. It made me wonder about this guys motivation. And it didn’t help that he looked so much like Keedra! He had a similar complexion and the same color eyes. He even had a similar body shape. It was really creepy, I tell ya!
*sighs* There he goes again! Everytime a female crosses our path, Ranito has to try and win her attention. He's been doing that before he even thought about giving up on Lynei, but now it's worse. As soon as he started fliriting with Olyame, I immeditaely pulled him to the side.
|Ranito, stop that.| I scolded. |Can't you see you're scaring her?|
|But Waetar--|
|No buts!| After that, I went to Olyame and apologized for his behavior. I also explained that he does that to every female, no matter the species. Plus, Mack doesn't have many female charges, so that was why his wards were hitting on Olyame. She seemed a little bit more understanding, but still confused about their behavior.
"I don't get many suitors." she explained. "To my species, I am not beautiful."
"Well, among the Mykari, Ranito is considered pushy and agressive." I replied. Ranito did not like that at all. He liked some of the younger boys staring at Olyame even less, especially this one called Detour. The instant he started hitting on Olyame again, his tool took him up to the ceiling. Olyame thought that was strange, and it probably would've been if I didn't know about Ranito's magnetic ability from his two Elements, Lightning and Metal. It was pretty funny when Detour dropped to the floor and landed on his butt. Hmm...is it just me or is Ranito actually serious about her? I guess I will have to see for myself soon.
Ok, that was weird. The welding tool Detour had in his hand shot straight up, stuck to the ceiling for a moment, then came crashing down with Detour still attached! Before, I could say a word, Ranito was next to me again.
“Are you all right, young Miss?”
“Um…I’m fine.”
“You won’t have to worry about him bothering you again.”
By this time, Detour had gotten up from the floor cursing and rubbing his butt
“Hey man! What the f*ck you tryin’ to do? Break my ass?”
“Maybe…” Ranito replied with a cold stare. It looked like a fight was brewing. Hard to believe it was over me! Fortunately, Mack intervened.
“Detour! Get your ass over here and get back to work!” The human stared Ranito down for a few seconds then ambled over to his work bench. I guess his butt still hurt because he was still walking kind of funny. Ranito looked back at me and smiled. I turned away and prayed that this male was not the type to take advantage of me.
Edited by: Detia1 at: 6/9/02 7:29:56 pm
I couldn't understand her. Here I was, trying to be nice to her, only to get brushed off like a piece of lint! *sighs* Just what I need, a Martian Lynei. Then again, Lynei never had as many suitors as Olyame does right now. Seeing all of those boys hitting made me pretty jealous. I sure hope I taught that Detour a lesson. As soon as I smiled at her, though, she turned away. At first, I thought she was just shy, but I realized that it may be possible to get my heart broken again. Hey, I was willing to take a chance. I immediately conjured up a flower to give to her. She seemed to like it, and even blushed when she looked at me. Finally, now we're getting somewhere!
"Why do you like me?" she finally asked. "I'm not pretty, I'm pregnant with a dead man's child, who would want me?"
"I would want you." I answered. "You seem pretty nice, beautiful, smart, beautiful, caring, beautiful; who wouldn't?"
"My own species."
"Then they are blind. They look so hard for exterior beauty that they fail to look at the real beauty, the one that is within. Olyame?"
"Yes?"
"Do you think we can get to know each other better, somehow?"
"I.....I can't. Not now."
"Why not?"
"You...you just look too much like my baby's father!" With that, she ran into her room and locked the door. I tried to get her to come out, but nothing would convince her to even open the door.
|Ranito, what the hell did you do now?!| Waetar snapped.
|Nothing.| I answered.
|I thought I told you to leave her alone.|
|Shut up, Waetar! For once, stop treating me like a child!|
|Stop acting like one and I'll consider it.|
|Who died and made you second-in-command?!|
|Does it matter? Just leave her alone. I don't want to have to explain to Lynei that you've developed another crush.|
|This isn't a crush, Waetar!|
|Oh no?|
|That's right! So why don't you mind your own business and leave me alone?!|
After Qubo and his bodyguard were sentenced in Limbo, I headed back to Earth to pick up Waetar and Ranito. When I got there I found them arguing like a couple of little children.
lWhat is going on here?l
lRanito has upset Olyame!l
lWhat? Ranito, explain yourself!l
lI was just trying to talk to her…l
lYou mean you were flirting.l
That’s when Ranito started stammering. I knew I shouldn’t have sent him to check up on that girl!
Re: Love and Laughter: Double Time
|What in the name of the deities were you thinking!?| I shouted to Ranito. Waetar took a couple of paces back at my outburst. I immediately dragged Ranito into the metaphysical realm, to have a nice, long chat with him about this. |Ranito, you can't just go hit on every living female that comes our way.|
|But--|
|No buts! Look, Ranito, Olyame is very delicate about romance at this point. The father of her baby has died, so I doubt she'll be ready to date again anytime soon!|
|I was trying to make her feel comfortable.|
|Comfortable? You probably scared the daylights out of her!|
|She gave me one compliment, though; she said I looked like her late lover.|
|That isn't a compliment, Ranito. She was probably trying to make a point with you.|
|How so?|
|You look like her dead lover. Do you think it's easy for her to be around you when she is grieving? And even if you somehow succeed in winning her heart, we still have the problem of our criminal record. We've done too much for the law to spare any of us. There's no need to drag Olyame into this personally.|
|But what about you? Do you think we wouldn't find out about that garde you were so sweet upon?| Oooh, that does it.
|My personal life is none of your business, Ranito Karnte! Plus, I was not sweet on him; I merely took pity on a grieving man whom I found out was only hooked on revenge! Goddess knows the laser shot through his skull made that clear!|
|Not to mention his hiring Ta'Ran-Shan.|
|Do not remind me.|
|So, what's the update on our dear Martian and his ta'tori friend?|
|I'll tell you when we return to base. And Ranito. Think about what I said.| We returned to Earth to get Waetar, then went back to base, where I explained everything I saw.
Damn it! Now what’s wrong? Turned out Ranito upset Olyame somehow. Tweazer told me all about it.
“Detour was tryin’ to mack on that Martian chick, but that green guy did somethin’ to his tool and ended knocking him on his butt…”
“Yeah, yeah, I know about all that. What happened after that?”
“Well, the green guy said something to her and she got up and ran upstairs. He followed her then came back down by himself. I haven’t seen Olyame since.”
“Eh, ok. I guess I’d better go check up on her.” After I do that, I’m gonna have to talk to Lynei about doing something about her flirty friend. When I got to Olyame’s room, I could already hear her sobbing before I even opened the door. Oh man, what did Ranito say to her? After I knocked a few times she finally answered me.
“It’s Mack. Mind if I come in?”
“No, I don’t mind,” she sniffled. When she opened the door, I saw something in her hand. When she sat on her bed I could tell it was a picture. I didn’t have to guess who it was.
Re: Love and Laughter: Double Time
"Look, about whatever Ranito said," I started. "If he's offended you somehow..."
"It's not that." she answered. "I know he means well, but he doesn't understand the stress I'm going through right now."
"Hey, don't worry." I got a little closer, enough so I could see the picture of her late lover. Whoa! He looks a lot like Ranito! No wonder Olyame's upset. Having someone who has a major resemblence to a dead loved one hitting on you has got to take the cake.
"Mack, how is it that you care about kids the way you do?"
"Uh...long story. Why don't you get some rest? It won't do that kid of yours any good if you're stressed out."
"Okay." I left the room after that. Now I had a good idea about what was going on. I decided to contact Lynei. The Hav'Throth still had a sort of techonlogy that they use as a private line of sorts. When I asked her about Ranito, she said she had already talked with him and he was gonna leave Olyame alone, for now. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
"So, you didn't say anything about that Martian and his metahuman goon." I said.
"Oh, is that a laugh!" she said. "I have to tell you, your pal Mo got 100 years for participation and Qubo and his pal got life for their crimes, and that was only in Limbo. Qubo has to face a lot of charges at the intergalatic court."
"Still gonna try and prove he violated Lenaria?"
"I have to. Making him pay would put her spirit at ease. After all, if it weren't for him and that mutant partner of his, neither of us would've been involved in this at all."
"Gosh! He's still alive? Didn't you tell me he was obessed with Sundance?"
"Yes..."
"Well, when you told me that, I was sure Brightlight would've slaughtered him by now."
"That's for the next time Qubo goes after Sundance. But that one time he did try to abduct and violate her, Qubo got hurt where it mattered most."
"How so?"
"Brightlight castrated him. They dismissed that as defense of others."
