Re: Coming Home
Quicksilver chewed the inside of his lip as he re-read Lorie's message, unsure how to answer. She was a sweet girl, and they had held each other up during rehab more times than he could count, but keeping up the charade to write to her was getting difficult.
His eye passed over the line about living with his 'girlfriend' and he suppressed a chuckle. You caould call it that, I suppose, he thought, assuming you don't mind all the other company. And he was glad to know she was seeing Virgil. The young man seemed serious and stable, and it would be easy enough to keep an eye on him. There were advantages to his job, after all.
Dear Lorie,
Everything's fine here. I've been getting back into the swing of things with work and life. In a lot of ways, it feels like a whoile different me. There are times I think I could pass you on the street and you wouldn't even recognize me.
I don't think the double-date thing would work out. There is a lady I'm seeing, but what with being away so long, it's kind of complicated right now. Don't worry about me. I'm sure things will be fine. Just takes time, like everything.
Congrats on the guy. I hope he's the one, but take your time. Don't rush into anything, and think about how things in his life could effect yours. Sometimes I think we're more vulnerable now than other people, but at least we know what our kryptonite is.
Miss you too, Keep your chin up.
Terror Man
He knew in his heart he'd have to give up writing to her at some point. Delay the replies more and more until one day it just didn't come. Maybe close the message account so she'd know it wasn't getting through. But he'd chosen his life, and it was here now.
He sent the message quickly, then brought up the day's schedule. Lots to do, and only so many hours to do it.

Re: Coming Home
Meanwhile, Sapphire, off-duty for the moment, made an important decision to research Mon*Star's species. "Being half of that species," she thought. "I think it'd be best to let Jon--and myself--know just what exactly we're getting into." After what seemed like hours of research, Sapphire hit paydirt. She discovered that Mon*Star's species were the Feltorue, which meant 'devil species' in their tongue. They were a minor species which inhabited Brim Star pre-War of Eternity. During that war, they hired themselves out to any side that could afford them. Sapphire didn't find that surprising; the War of Eternity was fought among the major species of Limbo and the minor species either took sides, served as mutual merchants or remained neutral. After the war, there were very few Feltorue in Limbo, which were rumored to be occupying a mountainous archipelago on the other side of Bedlama. Mon*Star appeared to be the only Feltorue to occupy Brim Star in its current condition.
Delvao, she discovered, was the patron god of the Feltorue, and a Limbo equivalent to the Terran deity Lucifer, or Javora, the Mykari immortal who defies the Goddess for eternity. But what Sapphire became shocked over most was about Feltorue hybrids.
"Feltorue hybrids often take the physical form of their second lineage." she read out loud. "Whether that heritage is Divore, Rhynoid, Hash'a'Glith, or even human, the Feltorue characteristics are internal and would take a DNA test to discover. But when the hybrid reaches his or her 100th birthday, Feltorue physical features will appear if the DNA of both heritages is split in half. If the hybrid has a child with any species but Feltorue, the DNA that is Feltorue will be surpressed and physical features become less visible. But studies have shown that if the hybrid is 1/4 Feltorue and 3/4 human or any other species that lives less than the normal living span of Limbo species, the only physical feature the hybrid will experience will be the slowing of age, leading the hybrid to live the standard living span of 500 years. That trait will be domininant for several generations as long as there is no further breeding with other Feltorue or any other Limbo species." Sapphire shhok her head at that. "By the Goddess..."
Re: Coming Home
Sara's sister was also doing some research of her own. She had already mastered the four major Mimian dialects, Martian, and some Hash'a'Glith, thanks to some tutoring vids Bluegrass had sent her. While she precticed her Hash'a'Glith her mind wandered to a message she had received. Her sister, Sara, wanted to meet with her face to face. Jadine wanted so very much to finally meet her sister in person. She found the thought of that very exciting, and a little scary. They had been corresponding for several months, learning all they could about each other.

Re: Coming Home
As events were happening, Jon was headed to Sara's room to ask if she wanted to join him for dinner this evening. There was a small cafe that had been suggested to him by Will and Zan, and he had decided that with him being off this evening, he would ask her if she wanted to join him.
He lifted his hand to knock when he heard Sara's voice. She was reading something out loud to herself. "......surpressed and physical features become less visible. But studies have shown that if the hybrid is 1/4 Feltorue and 3/4 human or any other species that lives less than the normal living span of Limbo species, the only physical feature the hybrid will experience will be the slowing of age, leading the hybrid to live the standard living span of 500 years. That trait will..."
He stepped away from her door and let his hand drop to his side. It took a moment for the information to sink in. She would out live him by almost 400 years, if he was lucky enough to live past a century that is. After chewing on his bottom lip a moment, he turned away. Perhaps he would go down to Bedlama and have dinner by himself tonight instead.
By the time 8 o'clock rolled around, Jon was on Bedlama. Out of armor and wearing a pair of faded jeans and a black t-shirt sitting at one of the outside tables. He was sipping his tea as he waited on his meal to arrive. Will and Zan had been right, the cafe was a nice little place.
"Terry?"
Jon looked up a the astonished voice, to see perhaps the last person he was expecting standing over his table.
"Hi, Lorie." What could he say really?
"What are you doing here? I thought you went back to live with your girlfriend." Lorie said.
"Yes and no..." Jon let out a sigh. "Have a seat. I guess I owe you an explaination?"
She sat, and a waiter appeared, bearing menus. "Will madam be remaining?" he asked.
"Yes," Jon said. "If you want to, of course."
"I'd be glad to, thanks."
He swirled his tea around a moment as he gathered his thoughts. "I should appologize for leading you on. Maybe I should have told you who I was...am that is." he looked up at her. "My name isn't Terry Davids. It's Jonnathan Quick."
"You mean all that time...?" She stared into her water glass. "Why didn't you tell me then?"
"I didn't want anyone to know... besides Zan that is. She was the one that found me the way I was." He couldn't bring himself to look her in the face as he spoke. "We decided it would do more Harm to the SilverHawk's reputation then good. Especially..." he shrugged. He still had a hard time admiting it to himself that he did all those things that he did.
"I understand," she said quickly. "We said, after all, that whatever we talked about in Rehab would stay there." She sipped at the iced tea the waiter brought. "So what happened with you and the girlfriend?"
"She's not who I thought she was," he said quietly. "Can you forgive me for leading you on? I mean with what all happened between us..."
"Hey, we said we would still be friends, right? I don't think anything's happened to change that."
"I Still feel bad about it. Especially with that one scare we both went though." he reached up to brush his hand over his short cut hair. "I have more silver then gold up here cause of it I bet."
"You're still a handsome guy," she said, smiling. "Maybe not quite as cute as Virgil, but enough to turn just about any girl's head."
He chuckled and shook his head. "I'm old enough to be your father....." his expression changed after that. "I've been here in Limbo for almost 25 years.... perhaps it's getting time for me to find someplace to settle down."
"Hey, lots of women like older men. Look at Cami. The Brigadier's old enough to be her...well, I don't even want to think about it. So where would you go?"
"Not sure, but I don't think staying here on Bedlama would be a good idea. Too many enemies and too easy to be gotten to. Look at Cami."
"Oh, yeah. That was just terrible. Sometimes it seems liek no one gets anywhere, you know? Like no matter what we do, nothing ever changes."
He nodded in agreement as the Waiter brought out their meal. He smiled lightly and held up his cup. "To good times."
"Yes. Long may they last," she said, tapping her glass against his.
The rest of the evening was spent in pleasent, non-important chatter. Nothing that would effect either of their current lives was discussed. Nor was any type of business spoken about. But some howm he couldn't help but feel that Limbo and the SilverHawks no longer had a place for him. The new Hawks were younger, stronger and faster then he ever was in when in his prime. Even the criminals were getting meaner and deadlier it seemed.
When the meal was over, he paid the tab and walked her home. From there, he continued walking till he reached the park. Sitting on one of the benches he looked up. He was right. Limbo was no longer his home. It was time he started looking to his own life and to find where he belonged. It was time he planed to come home.
