fitness modelling
so for any girls out there who have done some photo shoots what advice would you give someone looking to get into it?
I had a mini one with Darrin between my shows on saturday nothing crazy but just wanted to see how it would feel and to have different pictures to capture my big day...after that I am thinking it would be great motivation for me to stay fairly lean and on track if i knew i had the odd photo shoot to look forward to!
any helpful tips, hints, advice is appreciated!
Darrin....you can comment too even though you aren't a girl....i like your blunt / straight to the point attitude
Take modeling lessons, I did fitness modeling a few years back and just had an acting background. Photographers hate having to tell you everything to do, you need to know how to look your best in front of the camera. Trust me, I felt like an idiot, but I looked good
I wish I had a better idea of how to show people in thier best light, but I am so new at using all the equipment I have I am too focused (pun not intended) on the use of the equipment moreso than the model.
So in short, take lessons so you know how to pose and know your good features and how to show them and your bad ones and how to hide them from the camera.
Re: fitness modelling
Never new Darring had a feminine side
I hate photo's let alone delibertlay posing and you can ask Darrin hehe poor guy had to see me half naked for my "before" shots for the 12 week challenge hope i don't scare him on the next lot

Re: fitness modelling
don't worry about how you look in those before shots!!! they will speak a million words in 12 weeks TRUST ME!!!! good luck and stay focused.
Re: fitness modelling
practise, practise, practise..use your digital camera and just shoot away...my first photoshoot was 8 hours long..and after the first 100 or shots i started feeling comfortable. Now I get Darrin to take shots whenever he can so i can get more experience. But thats all, just practise and be yourself.
Re: fitness modelling
Hey LA, how did you feel at first when Darrin was taking photos of you...were you shy? I found it is easy to work with Pro photographers, but I tend to get rather shy with my BF
Re: fitness modelling
I'm the opposite..when Darrin takes pics of me he makes it really easy...I am wayyyy more comfortable around him than other photographers. I know he'll ALWAYS shoot me in the best light possible and delete any unflattering pics. We always have a blast when we are doing pics...i can be myself and be silly--it also gives me an opportunity to try different poses and things.
Re: fitness modelling
Cheers LA thanx for the reply I recon my challenge is that we do stuff in a hurry...my BF is always so full on...so I feel under preassure to get everything right on very first take so no time is wasted
Re: fitness modelling
I find that if I build up somewhat of a relationship with the photographer before I shoot with them, the shots always come out better. If you know them, even if it's just to loosen the mood a little bit, the tension is somewhat lifted and you can be yourself more freely.
Having fun while you're shooting is the key to great shots.
