Re: Rules?
sadly, I think the game resources are scattered far and wide as per Stimpy's list of links... I'm sure i still haven't seen everything I should have after playing for 3-4 months

Re: Rules?
There is, and there isn't. The "rule book" dates back to when it was a pure PBM game. It has since been converted to online play, for free, via a Java program. I have the rules and can email them to you.
Conversely, they are also posted by chapter at the Blood Pit Forums. The individual post topics are chapters in the text. You can download the *.rar file from bloodpit.net
I can also email it to you.

Re: The Blood Pit
as I mentioned, the rules were written for a game that was played via PBM (play by mail). It has switched to a Java-based entry form that is not the old pencil & paper. While the concepts are the same, the format has changed. I did not have any experience with the old Blood Pit as I was a Duelmasters (now called Duel2) player. Tho Duel is roughly $10.50 per turn for 5 warriors and BP is free.
Regardless. You have 6 strategies you can set your warrior up for. In the java form, they are listed 1-5, and D.
Each strategy line is comprised of comprised of 5 columns:
Trigger
Style
Activity
Aiming Point
Defense Point
Trigger
This sets up what causes your warrior to activate a particular strategy. These are self explanitory.
Strategy
How you want your fighter to fight. There are many options, all described in the rules.
Activity
This determins how much movement, attacks and general activity your warrior will use. If you want to stand still, a 0 is appropriate. A 9 for highly active warriors. High activity wears down endurance faster
Aiming Point
You can target a specific location. There is a small penalty added to hitting non-aim locations.
Defense Point
You can choose to protect a specific location at the expense of others. Again, small penalty to non-protect location.
Since everything is a pull down menu, thing are rather self-explanatory. The only 'unknown' would be what strategies to use, what affects what and so on. This is the experimental phase of the game. On the forum, the creator has stated that the game is designed to be logical. An example would be that a warrior who parries wouldn't necessarily be best suited to a high activity level as a parry tends to be a relatively stable move. Whereas, dodging, is exactly the opposite.
