Bleh?
Wierd...... This is just a discussion .... something that enforces this things.... But I'd agree on ISO's views...... And it is also the correct ones.... For me, now I think that games aren't really that expensive...... If you got a half-decent job, you can usually buy 2 games per month out of your salary..........
Illegal copy, unless floppy? Slogan of the legal Jack-Ass.
You guys are pretty funny with your law crap. All this talk about floppy this and that. Technically speaking anything that isn't a hard disk is a floppy. That means if it's not a physical part of your computer and you own it, you have a right to copy it.
Floppys were originally intended to keep a backup of your hardware, in case somthing went wrong. And anyone that says that CD's and game cartridges are too durable to break down, needs to break down on their knees and use their mouth on my genetalia.
Besides don't qoute law about software issues. If I didn't have games to keep me busy I'd probably be busy writing a virus to delete your hard drive. And then I'd be like putah, where your floppies at now. Oh right you made them illegal. Sux to be you.
I don't know about passing out copies to other people but screw it. Like my uncle always used to say *having intercourse* with the family cat is only illegal if sombody tells. And I havn't seen any talking cats lately. It all breaks down to this. If you don't want people to copy your stuff use better copy protection. And don't bitch if people burn it, because it's supposed to be illegal.

Mmm..
I'm just putting this here for YourMama'sSweetAss
I'm so tired of hearing that
Rules are made to be broken.
If rules were made to be broken, they wouldn't be rules. They'd be meaningless sentences. Honestly, that quote has lost so much meaning over the years. This part is going to relate to the laws that Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft/Etc. have laid down over the years, and to legal interpretation.
When a law is stated, it is meant to have a single meaning. How ever, the difference between the person WRITING the law, and the person INTERPRETTING the law is something totally different. It all depends on how they think. There fore, we can confidently say we interpretted these laws Nintendo and such have written, and still be legal. Hey, the supreme court does it, why not the citizens as well?
What a moot point!
This is all bullsh*t. Who can truly own a digital entity. That is like claiming ownership of the wind! Can you touch it? NO! Can you hold it? NO! At best it is possible to handle the container it occupies. Example did you know that a company cannot totally claim ownership of a digital product? The bylaws merely lay claim to the media on whence the product came example the cd or cart. This is why they swear up and down that it is illegal to copy carts. While your product is on a cart they own you!!! I mean why would those good honest corporate people ever claim that it is illegal to copy their material and make them lose a small percentage of that absurdly large profit?? Oh wait a sec......... MAYBE SO THEY CAN CONTINUE TO LIVE FAT AND HAPPY! WHILE THEY CONTINUE TO UNDERPAY THEIR POOR SWEAT SHOP WORKERS!!!!!! Carts cost pennies on the dollar to make. Just for kicks, if a cart only costs a dollar to make then at thirty a pop the profit margin is at 3000%!!!!Granted this is a oversimplification but the general idea is correct. You tell me who the real criminals are???????
To the child of the "solicitor" Men of real power and reputation never brag about what they do, only the child of some high school drop out with no foreseeable future would have to brag in a forum about what dad does for a living. Get over your personal problems. and tell daddy to get a real job.
Also the smart man keeps at least two hard drives. One for the world to see and the other ones to keep your "other" past times on.
The Workers
Also everyone mentions the programmers and designers getting paid out of the profit. WRONG they will get paid regardless. Did they do the job? Yes! So at what point do the large corporations profits affect them? NEVER!
If you ask me I think that more money should go to the guys who spend all the time in little boxes making our games instead of in corporation figure heads pockets

Roms Are legal-ilegal!
My self I do not know the facts or the laws. The comment was made that back ups of floppies is what the law refers to because there is a chance of lose of programs or corruption. Well there is a chance of perminent loss with any other form of information storage. You can loose all the information on your CD's, DVDs and such with a scratch. Sure you can go and use one one of those CD repair kits but they do not always work and if they do most of the time only work once. So why pay $50 or so bucks for a game that could be damaged in a day. You can not take them back to the stores if they get damaged. You can not call up the company and say "I got a scratch on this disk that I just baught, can you send me a new one". They will just say tough luck. Same with carts, I have lost so many games cause a friend stepped on it. The Fact is that the public spends so much money for a game they would like to finish and not have to buy several copies of just to get half way. In my opinion if you buy a program its your, you own that copy it is your property. You should have the right to preserve and protect the lose of your property. Even it it means making a back-up of it. My freinds and I make backups of our CDs to play in our cars so just in case some one brakes in to them we do not loose sever hundreds of bucks. Instead we are only out a few bucks. But this is my opinion and I will never stop protecting my property. Nintendo, Sony, and all those idiot Musicians can go to hell if they think they can make me stop. If they want to charge as much as they do then they should expect it. If they lower there prices a great deal then it will happen less.
anybody know where to get some commercial roms?
the site i ussually go to is down i just need a site with castlevania, Doom, Heretic, Quake, etc. thanks abunch.
What if we have no intention of buying the game
----------------------------
NOw i know at least one of you is going to say somthing along the lines of: "OH, but wait! They're a big company Sean! They already make Assloads of money! What's me taking one little sale away from them going to hurt them? The can give away some money! They can afford it!"
----------------------------
How does it affect people who has no intention of buying the game in the first place?
