M2. chicken (100g) with steamed veg

Re: Diet Critique--Let Darrin look at your current food choi
Hi Em...if you do not mind I will have a go ..I am getting my friend ready for her first comp and this helps me to sharpen up and eliminate mistakes since Darrin goes over my post too.
From what I understand HIIT is in the same category as weight session-given it is really truly brutal HIIT. So I would at least have Whey shake (25-30 grams Protein) prior to your cardio. Plus you are in fasted state after night sleep so you do not want to catabolize muscle.
First thing that jumped out is lack of EFA’s Essential Fatty Acids in your diet.( Flax oil, hemp oil, olive oil,MCT,almonds, avocado, fish oil.)Your body can’t make them so you have to supply them. Your brain, skin, hair, nails, hormones etc..has to have them for proper function. So I would have variety (1-3 tsp)of these in all my meals except post workout.
Fish and chicken is fantastic but some very lean red meat and oily fish such as salmon and sardines would be beneficial 2-3x per week at this stage.
I think you do not eat enough complex carbs. You should follow your post workout shake(whey and high GI carbs) with meal of complex carbs such as sweet potato or brown rice and lean protein. If that would be your last meal then have cottage cheese as your protein source and no fat in this meal. Yes generally complex carbs are no no at night but exception is if you had hard weight session at night then you should .
I am not going into portions-I will leave it up to Hot Shot Darrin.
Re: Diet Critique--Let Darrin look at your current food choi
Just need to correct the EFA-I put some sources that are not EFA-I just put them as a good beneficial fat..Help me out Darrin Flax, hemp and fish oil are in EFA category..not sure about the rest
Re: Diet Critique--Let Darrin look at your current food choi
Aluschka i use olive oil in cooking does that help???
The fish i eat is either tuna or salmon sorry should have said that
Em
P.S
Thankyou for your help I still have alot to learn!!
Re: Diet Critique--Let Darrin look at your current food choi
Hi girl..I use Olive oil seldom for cooking-only if I run out of coconut oil Darrin sugested peanut oil for cooking-it can take much higher cooking temperatures. Olive oil is not so stable..
Glad to hear you are eating salmon..that is great You are doing fantasticaly Em...Most important is that you want to learn and change
Re: Diet Critique--Let Darrin look at your current food choi
Aluschka, there is just so much information out there its hard to know whats right and whats wrong???
I never knew that about olive oil??? I never used to use oil but when i cut down most fat in my diet it was recommended to add olive oil to salads and cooking in general.

Elise it is a pleasure..remember I am only a tiny sidekick here
Hey Ange glad you are having fun..humour is one of the most important things in life..for me that is
Darrin LOL..you even look like a bronze statue Well perhaps we could use on you the hammer and chissel I use for my stiff hips
Re: Diet Critique--Let Darrin look at your current food choi
Darrin had to participate in a bodyflow class (this is a combo of pilates, yoga and tai chai)at his work (manditory for management) and it was the talk to the gym (and city) for a month after he did it!!
I would have paid to see him do it But he sneaked it in without telling anyone!!
Re: Diet Critique--Let Darrin look at your current food choi
LOL..make sure if it ever happens again to capture it on video..so we can have a laugh too
Re: Diet Critique--Let Darrin look at your current food choi
I have always wanted to see just how flexible a big muscluar man really is!!!!!
Aspecially if he was in one of those smaller classes where the instructor comes round and bends and stretches and flexes you like a pretzel Now i would definantly go through the agony just to see it in person LOL
