Re: What supplements do you take?
Ok, since i don't have pic..here's a short list:
Multi vitamin, calcium, vit c, vitamin D, colostrum, alpha lipoic acid, CLA, fatburner, guggulipids, rhodiola, melatonin, B12, holy basil, digestive enzymes, and l carnitine.
also,
whey protein (isolate, concentrate and casein), glutamine, creatine, BCAA's, Udo's oil, mct oil, and in case of emergency--carb blocker and fat absorbers
Re: What supplements do you take?
oh my, what on earth do all those do? not the obvious ones like multi, vit c, calcium and d, but all those other ones.
Re: What supplements do you take?
colostrum: will help keep the immune system strong, build lean mass and reduce body fat
alpha lipoic acid: helps regulate insulin, antioxidant
guggulipids: regulates thyroid to aid in fat burning
rhodiola: helps elevate mood, controls stress
melatonin: sleep aid
holy basil: allows the body to adapt to stress, aids in gh release
l carnitine: aid in fat burning and cardiovascular health
glutamine: aids in muscle recovery, keeps immune system strong
BCAA: aids in tissue repair and recovery
hope that helps give you a slight idea to what i use these for.

Re: What supplements do you take?
I always use the carb blockers when I cheat I think I can attribute not gaining a lot of excess fat in offseason to the blockers. I believe they work, but thats just my personal opinion
Yes, i'm still considered a natural athlete due to the fact most of the supplements i take are all food derivatives or natural and you can buy everything at healthfood stores--i do take a little ephedrine but thats still allowed in the natural organizations because cold meds still contain it I take all my supps on a daily basis--its a part of my diet and i feel guilty if i miss anything. The only things i don't take daily are the carb and fat blockers, those are just for emergencies.
Welcome to the board we are very happy you're here!!!

Re: What supplements do you take?
Thanx Lori-Ann!! Glad to be back on a forum!!!
That info. is awesome.
I'm currently taking a multi. vit., calcium, a fat burner, ginko biloba, Udo's, glutamine and protein. My post workout powder should be arriving today and I'll be adding CLA rhodiola and relacore.
Re: I take....
I bought "Super Cortisol Support" yesterday. It has relora, rhodiola and holy basil in it. Each pill has 200 mg of relora, 20 mg of holy basil and 20 mg of rhodiola in it. I'll take 2 pills a day, so double the amount.
I'll try it until the bottle runs out and then I may just go on straight rhodila -- see if this elevates my mood enuff!!
I bought it at the local health store here in Brockville. The brand is "Now" and its sugar, salt, yeast, wheat, gluten, milk, egg and preservative free!
90 caps. for 39.99 on sale -- regular price is 49.99
There is a website on the bottle -- www.nowfoods.com.

I can take 3 pills a day -- do you think I'm getting enough of each by taking 2 - 3 pills??

Re: What supplements do you take
Another question LA!! (I have WAY too much time on my hands when I don't start 'til 3:30 p.m.!!)
CLA is a fatty acid -- take this to help break down stored fat and to inhibit fat coming from the bloodstream to fat cells.
Udo's oil contain's essential fats we need
What is mtc oil?
And you said earlier that CLA would need to be counted as fat cals., as would Udo's (obviously).
Obviously, taking all these items together doesn't hurt -- look at you and Darrin!!!
And -- this is my question (I think the ginko isn't working well for my memory -- I got all the way upstairs and realized I didn't ask the question I wanted to!!)
CLA and Udo's are for different things -- you can't sub. one in for the other -- so, I would still need to take 2 tbsp./day of Udo's and I believe it's 6 tabs. of CLA/day, right?
This is a purely financial question -- my main goal is to lose my fat -- I can't be spending money on supplements I just don't need right now. I tend to get caught up in things and go full throttle and then later kick myself for spending too much. I just want to make sure I'm investing my money in the right areas!!
Re: What supplements do you take
That Now product is great I just started carrying it and its flying off my shelves. Good choice
Yes, you would still take the Udos and CLA together...you don't want your body unbalanced when it comes to the essential fats. The fats are important for all your bodily functions, especially hormones
Medium chain triglycerides commonly referred to as MCT oil is a saturated fat that your body will readily burn and use as energy rather that store it in your cells. You don't want your diet solely comprised of this but it can't hurt to add it in occasionally. Right now, I think you are on the right track and you don't really need the mct oil in your diet. Its not expensive but you don't want to go over board
Re: What supplements do you take
LA -- thanx for all the info. and your patience while explaining!!! I'm really glad "Now" products are free of so manythings!!
