Stay active is my advice! My mom stoped playing sports at 7 months and unlike most would say, I think I turned out ok! haha! All I'm saying is that my mom is so glad to have stayed active during her pregnancy and she also passed that on to me which is awesome!! Yay for moms!!!
Lucky kid to have a mom as dedicated as you! Out of curiousity though, will you be taking supplements in your diet?
Keep smiling! woohoo!
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
Thankyou so much LA, Val
I don't want to be one of those women And i don't want to go back to what i was
And i am not using pregnancy as an excuse!!!!
I have made excuses most of my life thus i got FAT!!!
But that girl isn't me anymore and i want to be happy and preggy and i want to be healthy!
I am going to consult my doctor, he said whey protein is fine just not sure about anything else, i will go and get a multi vitamine for pregnancy that has folate and calcium etc in but then i wil ask Darrin and my doctor about anything else
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
OMG I missed all the action and excitement Em Congrats chick Phew Em from my point of view there is no better time to get in shape and get super healthy I get absolutely mad at expectant mother who use preegnancy as an excuse to eat total crap Poor kids...they have no saying what they want and right from the start they are feed sugar and processed food..it makes me sick Pregnancy is the time when female should be at her strictest even more then figure competitor But then I am nuts and fanatic when it comes to health...it is ok if I make a choice and stuff my face with some junk, but we have no right to do it to our unborn or born children...sorry I just have to be straight forward Now I just have to ease off a bit...I think it is acceptable to have some treat whle prego from time to time as long the rest of the nutrition is 90% there and you do not substitute icecream for healthy meal!! If you are desperate ...have something after you had your meal. From the bottom of my heart I want to encourage you to keep going for your own and your unborn baby sake. You have fantastic opportunity to improve your health and get trim, please keep going girl
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
Aluschka,
I couldn't agree more
And there is nothing wrong with being passionate about something! I wish i could surround myself with people like you at home
Well i recieived a lovely email from Darrin and god do i feel silly all along he was prepared to help me no matter what and i go and get all silly and worried for no reason!
But I am in for the 12 weeks i have already started mostly the eating side of things as i wanted to see my doctor before proceeding with anything (Supps and exercise) And my doctor has reassured me that i am able to do as i have planned right up until the last month where i need to take it easy no exercises that require me to lay down on my back and not heavy weights.
So i have the ok from my doctor and the wonderfull Darrin
So today is shopping day, i have a huge list but the great thing is that apart from a good quality protein supp and oil there is nothing unusual on my list, i do need to get some other supps like folate and calcium plus a good pregnancy multi vitamin which where not required by Darrin but i know how strongly he feel's about good vitamines
I have finished Darrins book and i must say he is one fantastic bloke to put this book together i totally take back my first impressions and i have also learnt ALOT
I finished the book and had a total lightbulb moment sort of a "der" really but hey, I have learnt that i spend an hour at the gym but then what do i do with the rest of my day/night so i have decided i need to get more organised, aspecially if i want this 12 weeks to be the kick start for my new LIFEstyle and i mean life i am going to continue the style of eating and exercise for the res of my life and hopefully with all my new knowledge i can pass it on to my hubby and my children
So tomorrow is the day that i will start properly!!! With all the right suppliments and all the right foods, I will also offically start my exercise plan i have done cardio and alittle weights but not as full on as i should and will tomorrow
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
GOOOOOOOD GIRL That is what I want to hear, full of determination and positive thoughts...Whey to go Hon You are on the way .....
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
Ok day 1 of the my 12 week challenge
Started my morning off early with 20 minutes HIIT found it hard getting out of bed early, but managed to get up 6am ok i know thats most probably late for alot of you comp girls LOL did my cardio and the had a nice early breakie.
Ok have to whinge thankgod i like oats!!! cause my protein powder is gag worthy YUCK but as Darrin told be grin it and bare it and i did
So the rest of my day will be spent on preping, i have some cooking to finish and i have a house to clean, then i am going to finish planning my weeks ahead
I will go to the gym tomorrow I will be going to the gym 3 times a week and then i have HIIT twice a week so this is a change from my own routine and of course the eating too is very differnt, but the great thing is, is that Darring has planned it all out and i all i have to do is choose from two basic menus training days and non training days he has the portions sizes and the cals and protein and fat etc is in each meal so the guess work is taken out and i must say i love that All i have to do is weigh and measure out everything and i find that easy enough and knowing you can whats on your plate and not stress
Any way must head off and get organised for my day
Have a great everyone
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
Thankyou LA,
Your such a lovely down to earth person, such a huge inspiration
Well so far today has been great and i am still full of energy, almost bouncing off the walls which is fantastic as by this time (12:30pm) i usually have an energy slump but i am feeling fantastic
Em
P.S
Hope your training is going well, only 4.5 weeks to go WOW
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
hey Em..sounds like all is under control..well exept that yucky whey protein Phew I have been through some nasty stuff myself But now I have this divine strawberry one..yummy
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
Darrin recommended Vanila as you can mix it up with gatorade for post workout hmmm still not sure about that one i will try that for the first time tommorw, wish me luck
Well the good thing is that the vanilla doesn't set of my morning sickness, but raw chicken does and guess what is my main protein source LOL but the good thing is hubby preped it for me so all i do is hold my nose and cook it then i am fine once its cooked silly though LOL
Em
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
hey em!!! glad to hear things are on track with you..... And some of the more 'bad-tasting' proteins u eventually acquire a taste for, I've found that.... Anyhow keep it up!!!
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
Hey Em -- hope you can stomach the vanilla protein with gatorade 'cause it's just about the BEST thing to drink and makes getting thru that last set worth it!!!! YUMMY YUM YUM!!!!
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
Sorry i didn't post earlier couldn't get into the forum for some reason??
Oh well here now
I have been feeling really off today i was up late lastnight as my daughter was sick, then i couldn't sleep cause i was high on hormones LOL then i went to prep my meals and felt so sick from just chopping raw chicken and the smell of tuna
I was freaking out thinking what will i eat if i can't even get over the smell of these foods???
But I suffered and ate away
I am feeling really tierd and flat now and like my get up and go got up and left
I'm organising to head to the gym in an hour so fingers crossed
I'm thinking i might have to rearrange my workouts to fit in with my not so morning morning sickness LOL i don't know why they call it morning sickness?? it should be called anytime of the day sickness, or midnightites or something hehe
I will email Darrin and see what advice he can give me
I'm not to worried as i have to expect to have some bad days i'm mostly having good days I think it could also be that i am alittle stressed as my hubby has his police exam tomorrow
Well i best get organised, the great thing is, is that the program that Darrin has writen is so flexible i can just swap days around and not miss out on any of my planned exercise, I really can't say how happy i am to have such a great PT and a great program, he really knows what he is talking about
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
Hey girl..I was the same around animal meat when I was pregnant I could not touch it when it was raw,but once cooked no problem Just hang in there, that mornin-non-morning nausea should easy off soon Hope your little girls feels better soon..nothing more heartbreaking then sick child
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
Thanks Aluschka,
Thankfully she is feeling better
I just wish she would go and have a sleep to make up for being up all night, but now she is like an energizer bunny LOL when all mummy wants is a snooz hehe
Em
Re: 12 weeks and counting....
On the weekend i was at my gym about to start workout 2 i was warming up and just about to go back to the rack and get another set of weights and i came crashing down as i had stepped back and tripped on someone elses weights they had set up behind me
So unfortunantly i have had to miss one session at the gym, but i'm ok and so is baby so next time i will just have to pay attention to idiots that decided to do their workouts behind me!!!
I am having a few diet issues as my stomach and baby have decided they don't like chicken or tuna but i have emailed Darrin and will see what advice he has for me
