Wendy's Journal
Well this is it. I am going to start my journal here today not because its my first day but because its going to be my first on Monday and I need to get myself in a forward positive thinking way. I will be picking up my program tomorrow morning. Yeehoo!
My husband and I met with Darrin last night. I left there feeling that I can completely accomplish my goals and if I didn’t accomplish them it would only be because I stood in my own way. Another thing that really stands out in my mind from our meeting is his little speech about people saying stuff to you about loosing weight like – “you don’t need to do this you look fine” or “ you look way too skinny” or “ are you sure you don’t have a problem” etc. etc.. I’ve heard them all before and I know I am going to hear it again. That is honestly my biggest fear in this whole endeavour, I can hear it already. I know I will just have to deal with that as I come to it and not loose my focus.
I took a picture of Maggie Diubaldo, fitness model, in with me to show him what I like as far as physique, she is just 1 inch taller than me at 5’9”, and he told my husband that if I am going to be looking like that he will be really wanting to get buff. LOL! I thought that was hysterically funny.
I also came to grips with the fact that I will not be running the ½ marathon I was going to do in Oct. Its going to be hard not to do it because I really want to but I want to transform my body more. I know I am going to disappoint some people who I convinced to do it but luckily they will be walking it so I wouldn’t have been with them during the race anyway. I will still go out to support them and maybe do the 5k.
Well, I have a big job ahead of me over the next few months. The bottom line was loose 30lbs of body fat and gain maybe 10lbs of muscle. WOW!
Anyhow, I think I better end this before I turn it into a novel!!
Wendy!!! How lovely to receive your post on my journal. Your words are very encouraging and it really is beneficial to share your thoughts with like-minded people. Kowing that you are not going things alone is very propelling for me. If you are anything like me, this forum will add to your accountability not just to those reading, but to yourself as you have written documentation of your journey.
After reading your post on my journal, I quickly came over to visit yours. First I must tell you how VERY envious I am of you in that you are working personally with Darrin. Trust me when I say that having a trusted trainer, one who is completely educated in both fields of training and nutrition, makes such a significant difference! Unfortunately I am in the states, (Florida), and not in Canada, so I am no where near being able to have expert guidance of Darrin up front and personal - in person. I have no doubt after seeing and learning about some of his other clients, and Lori-Ann , that you will get that Maggie Diubaldo bod you're going after! She has the most incredible physique I agree!! I keep an OXYGEN mag cover shot of her in my gym bag for motivation. It is a cover where she is just rockin' a smokin' set of abs!
As for the comments you already expect to be hearing - prepare your inner-voice to be louder than those that try to deter you. Think of when you were a little kid....did you ever cup your hands over your ears and hum out loud to drown someone else out when you were pouting or mad or aggrivated? Well, in your mind, be that little girl and hum away to your favorite tune. All the while, they'll think you're listening, but your inner-voice will be singing only the sweet tunes of success.
Your bottom line sounds fantastic and yes, it will be work, but it sounds like you're paving the way for nothing but a true transformation! I'll be following your journal and rootin' for you along the way!
Thanks so much for your encouraging words! It truly does help to have the support of others.
I will not be working with Darrin on weekly basis like a trainer because I do live about an hour away from him but I will be getting a workout and food plan from him and I will have his support via email. I am extrememly greatfull to have been able to see him because it made everything I want feel doable.
Yes maggie is smokin;!
I will remember what you said as well about cupping my hands over my ears - I will visualize that when I am in that situation.
Re: Wendy's Journal
Shees you to can chat that's for sure I have just lost my tittle of story teller around here Oh well I knew one day someone will kick my butt
Glad you started journal Wendy I am looking forward to your journey towards Maggie's bodz..she is gorgeous isn't she I think she is the only fitness girl with short hair out there. It really suits her. I saw her with longer hair and it wasn't as stricking...just my opinion
Be prepared to get your butt kicked...Darrin is one tough cookie But if you want to get where you want to be..oh well he is your ticket
BTW do not stress about letting anyone down with your marathon. What matters most is what you need and want to do most Ignore anyone and trust your own instict. You hav eno idea how many times I was told I am too thin Generally by slighly chubby people...they would say that they prefered me with more meat(fat on me) Bt who cares most important it what I want and how I feel about the way I look.
So off you go kick ass in da gym and stick to your eating plan ok!!!
Re: Wendy's Journal
Alushka, LOL! It looks like between you me and rena we willl have the board filled up in no time at all!!
Well here goes my story for today:
Went to see Darrin today to pick up my program. He is such a great person and so glad he is getting me on track.
The program is sooo awesome. I was really expecting some extreme diet plan where I would feel total deprived....not so.
Its normal eating - YIPEEE YIPPPEEE
I went straight to the store to pick up my vitamins, cla, udos and protein. Darrin said the vitamins were big and let me tell you he wasn't joking!! I then stopped at the store and picked up chicken, tuna and veggies. I got home and that’s where my compulsiveness really kicked in .... I cleaned house big time! Into the house came 3 bags and out of the house went 5!! YIKES. I organized my pantry so that all of the meal plan food is on one shelf at eye level and all my sons stuff is on a really low, low shelf. I got rid of all "unauthorized foods" so to speak other than kids stuff. I think my husband is going to die when he comes home and opens the cupboard!!
Why have it hanging around when you aren't gonna eat it anyway - right?
I am going out tomorrow to a pig roast and having my last big hoorah of the summer. Sunday I will prepare all my meals and plan my week. Monday = 100% on the program!!!
I honestly can’t wait!
I better go now and get rid of the bags, heee hee hee.
Stats
Along with my journal I will be posting my stats weekly.
I feel this is another good way to keep myself on the straight and narrow....to come on Sunday.
Re: Stats
Hey Wendy, you are very lucky to be able to see Darrin in person If you listen to him, there is no way you won't reach your goals
LOL about you food cabit Whenever I visit people I am fascinated what they have in pantry and feel like it is X-mas day But when someone visit us,they think they entered concentration camp Honestly they open the fridge or pantry the freak out!! It is like where is your food if you are interested let me know and I will post what's to eat in my house
I am glad to hear that you stocked up on supplements and healthy food and that you are pleasantly supprized about your new eating plan!!! If you like to eat fresh products then you will feel like it is cruising time...well except that the portions might be slighlty smaller then you are used to But hey you will eat every 2.5-3 hours so the food is not that far away..phew!! I keep looking at the clock when is my next meal...but heck it does not go more faster even thou I look every five minutes Sometimes I feel it is like this..eat..drink,drink..toilet,drink,drink,toilet,eat,drink,toilet LOL and in between train, cook, shop, work and live
Have a blast on Sunday and enjoy a few treats cos I don't think you will be getting any soon
Re: Stats
LOL! Alushka, I doubt anyone who has a goal like us here on the board would think concentration camp but I can definitely see how others would!
Yes I would LOVE to hear what have in your pantry!
I can imagine I will feel like I am eating nonstop!
By the way, how much water do you drink? I am used to drinking 2L a day and I was wondering if I should drink more.

Weekend is over and I enjoyed every beer and wing I gulped down last night let me tell you.
I spent some time in the afternoon cleaning and cutting all our veg and cooking chicken. Between me and my husband I had to make 8 lbs to last the week!
We both packed our lunches last night and realized that we would both need bigger lunch bags!! My husband was a bit concerned at how he was going to eat all the food he packed but I am sure he will get it down!
Well here I am 7:45 am and already finished my workout and meal 2!! I feel soo bloated and full at the moment I don't think I can even drink my morning coffee. I had one little problem this morning and that is not waking up early enough.
I set my alarm so that I could get enough time between meal and my workout. I ended up eating at 5:15 and getting the gym at 6:20. I was suppose to eat 2 hours before but that didnt happen today. My post workout meal was at about 7:30. I see I will have to work on my morning timing a bit better since thats when I will be working out.
Had a great workout this morning but I ended up having a difficult time drying my hair and putting on my mascara. My arms were a bit weak and shaky so I skipped the eye liner! The Alice Cooper look wouldnt go over to well at the office.
I weighed myself first thing this morning and I was slightly off my weigh in with Darrin. Since I will be monitoring with my scale I will use it as a benchmark. My weight was slightly higher and bf slightly lower on my scale.
Alushka, love the pantry. You have a ton of food in there!!
Re: Day 1 to a better bod.
Well looks like you were busy in da kitchine LOL!!! From what you are saying it looks like your hubby is joining you on the ride Always great when partners are in the same boat
Hmmm I can't even put mascara without mesing up with rested arms I can't magine what it would look like after workout
Enjoy your first week
Ciao
Oh BTW..forgot to say I have variety of hummus in my fridge too
Re: Day 1 to a better bod.
Aluschka - this one is going to be short and sweet today.
Yes hubby and I are both on a program!!
Day 1 results - food and workout 100% but I am really sore today especially my back muscles. I LOVE THAT FEELING!!
I felt a bit hungry yesterday evening but I drank some extra water, it would have been sooo easy to just eat someting but I didn't. I watched TV with my son for a bit last night and every other comercial was for KFC chicken fries - it even made him want to eat just after we had supper!! BAD TV!!
Got my meals packed and hubbys too. He had an unexpected trip to Toledo yesterday afternoon from work and he wasn't due home till the wee hours of the morning.
Day 2- only just began but I was exhausted this morning.
Still draging my butt even though I got up at 6am today.
I went to bed at 10:30 last night and I guess thats just too
late. I have to get up early tomorrow for my workout so I will
try to be sleeping by 10 tonight. I imagine my hubby is probably dragging his butt today since he didn't get home till 4 am. Glad I packed his food for today.
Sorry - aimed for a short one. Short....whats that?
Re: Day 1 to a better bod.
Hey glad that you are both on the program-way to go First months is always a bit rough..you know getting used to new lifestyle...I feel that as long as I get decent amount of sleep I am fine But if I am sleep deprived over longer time, then my will with strict (precontest) eating and training suffers If I start feeling edgy and want something sweet I know I need to get some good sleep
I am treating myself today with one hour of chinese reflexology I have been so full on lately...I need some TLC I used to reward myself with food, but not anymore.I rather use the money on hot pools, massage and so on that a meal at restaurant We used to eat out 1-2x per week, but not anymore. We prefer to spend more money on relaxation then on eating out. And hey,it is much better for keeping in shape too So remember..if you feel tempted to eat something not on your plan..first make sure you are getting enough sleep and second...spoil yourself. Go to Spa,have massage..or what works for me too is to have chill time at the nice cafe.I will order pot of herbal tea and read some junky magazines or nice book
Re: Re:Treating Yourself - R&R
A couldn't agree with Aluschka more! Rest, recovery, and relaxtion is always great medicine for not just the body, but the mind as well. I too can be quite edgy and almost evil when sleep deprived.
Your choices of treating yourself Aluschka sound quite nice!!! Oooohhhh - massage!
I made the decision I would NOT treat myself with food when I began the nutrition program Darrin outlined for me. In the past, I have rewarded myself with a "cheat meal" once a week. Now, I did ask about it...hey, I am only human , but have not indulged in taking a "cheat meal" as a reward of any sorts in this 3 1/2 weeks. I did, however, treat myself with a new do! Hair-do that is! I love to change my hair and make-up. Always have. I should of been a make-up artist of hair-dresser because I just love creating new looks for myself and others. As you will see, if and when some of my pics are posted, my hair is ever-changing! Color and style. I love trendy new things and the instant gratification of change has always appealed to me. I got it done over the weekend and it was some TREAT! She had to do a double process as my hair was almost platinum blonde and I wanted to put some brown back in it. 2 1/2 hours later I was a new woman! When I got the bill, I decided that was my treat for the month! OUCH!
Re: Re:Treating Yourself - R&R
Aluschka, that is such a great thing to reward yourself with things not food. It miffs me that we are so self destructive. We know things are bad for us yet we insist on doing those things over and over and over again. Why are we so obsessed with food? Is it the way we grew up? Even at my weight now my grandparents think I should eat something that I look sick. I am sure it’s the Eastern European in them. If you aren’t eating the skin off a chicken then you are wasting food, don’t eat salad its for rabbits not for people, what …a lard sandwich with lots of salt isn’t good for you ?? etc. etc..
I think my mini goal of 10lbs will require a hot stone massage.
Rena – love the hair story. I usually change my hair colour or style 3 or 4 times a year. I get so bored with it. Sometimes I wish we were all bald. Last summer I had really long hair and I got it shaved up the back and long in the front, I really freaked my hubby out.
Workout wise – did legs today. I think I am going to be in some real trouble tomorrow. Ouch! Darrin showed me how to do deadlifts the right way– ya they really do work when you do them correctly.
Diet wise – 100% on program. I feel a bit hungry right now but my next meal isn’t for another hour.
Weight wise – I did something this morning that I said I wouldn’t do – weighed myself. I am not sure if this is good or bad but I was down 5lbs from Monday morning. Its got to be 100% water but still the scale shocked me. I will officially weigh in on the weekend so by then maybe I will gain some of it back.
saying hello
Hey you are so lucky to be working with Darrin in person. I'm jealous. And to have your husband doing it with you is great. My husband is very supportive, but he is so different then me, with no trying at all he can drop weight. On the weekend he was complaining because he lost weight, he's been trying to bulk up a bit. He's big into working out too. He's made great gains in the last few years.
Long Weekend
Mindset....When you are there you are there.
This weekend we had a 2 day boat trip planned with with friends on our boat. Originally I was going to just go off the program for the 2 days and cut my losses. Now that I am into day 4 there is no way in heck I want to to that. Just sticking to a program for this short a time has really started me thinking in the right direction.
I called the couple and told them that hubby and I were on a meal plan and that we wouldn't be eating stuff other than what is on the plan. I offered to cook all the meals, letting them know what was on the menu. I told them that I could prepare something different for them if they didn't like what I was making for lunch and supper. Since they offered to bring the snack items I told them only to bring the snacks they were going to eat and not to worry about me and hubby. I will have a glass or 2 of wine and not beat myself up about it. Its a concious decision and I will leave it at that.
I am trying Darrin’s eye of round steak from this site tonight. I cut it up yesterday and rubbed the seasoning on it and will bbq it tonight. My son was a great little helper mixing up the seasoning and doing all the rubbing as I was doing the cutting. He seems to really want to help out with all our meal planning this week, he said its fun. LOL! Not a bad thing.
Re: Long Weekend - Have fun !!!!
Sounds like you have it all under control. I will be thinking of you when the weekend comes I get tempted to go off plan.
