howdy, i live in the grande state of texas and have enjoyed doing basic magic for many years. i enjoy surprising people and just seeing their reaction to basic techniques. now i am moving on to more ambitious things as i am practicing more sleight of hand. i have bought a few videos and a few books and am looking for people who could help and me out. perhaps i could help them out eventually also.

Dear Readers,

I'm a passionated cardworker from Switzerland. So please forgive me for if my english is a little bit confusing sometimes. But I'll do my best to make myself clear in any ways possible. That's a promise.

;)

I would like to introduce myself telling you that I was about 9 years old, when I started playing around with a Piatnik "Magic Christian" card-trick set and couldn't stop playing around with cards ever since. Frankly, I had ups and downs, threw the cards away for some time – especially when I've overdone practising. However ...

A deck of cards is to me what a piano is to a pianoplayer.

It is a revelation of self-reflection, a tool of communication and meditation.
I use it to exercise my hands and my brains. Sometimes, I use it to conjure a smile upon a face that was not very happy before. Sometimes, I use it to tell a story about that little wonders can happen to you the time you least expect them. A deck of cards will always be a teacher to me. It teached me alot about what is out there to learn from life, from communication with people, communication with oneself.

I see myself being like a Samurai. Working little wonders in a world that is in need for wonders. My sword is poker-size and of graceful appearance. Full of methaphors, dreams, desires, colors and truth. What more is there to tell?

My level of experience?

I don't know all the moves. I know quite alot from reading but worked only on a few to perfect them. (I worked two years on the pass only to learn that I still have to practise more to improve it.)

I like to adapt 'standards' (i.e. the pass) and redesign them to fit my personality and my natural movements.

Some people do alot of moves and alot of card tricks. I do about 3 moves and know but one or two cardtricks (self-working) by heart. The rest is left to improvisation.

What am I looking for?
I'm looking for learing experience. To share a thought or two.

Thank you very much for your time.

                        Greetings from Switzerland

                        -Elknase

P.S:"My girlfriend shies away when she sees me advancing with a deck of poker-size playing cards. I wonder why? ;) "

Hi all,

I'm a long-time fan of magic - pushing 40 years. Got hooked as a kid watching Mark Wilson on TV.

My library is bigger than your library.

Got into card counting in the '80s, and played professionally on a team. We gave up counting and started cheating. Wrote a series of articles about detecting cheating for Blackjack Forum. Then I retired, but keep my hand in.

Heard about this place from Igor and Doc. I'm looking forward to contributing on the cheating stuff, and some magic stuff. Old-school stuff, I don't always know the latest and greatest.

My name is Jeff Stone. I've been a student of the art of magic for about 15 years. I've actually published (self-published) a book called "Stone Cold Magic" You can check out my website (www.stonecoldmagic.com) to ensure that I'm a valid magician and that I'm serious.

I live in Utah and I perform probably about 7 or 8 shows per month.

I look forward to being a part of this group.

thanks,

jeff

hello all

my name is Morgan Bondett
(www.morganthemagician.com)

I live in Peterborough, ON, Canada, and am currently working toward a PhD in psychology at Trent University. My work in magic is helping to support my pursuit of a higher education.

I'm a former president of the local chapter of The International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM), and am a member of the Canadian Association of Magicians (CAM).

Every year, I accept an invitation to instruct at Canada's only magic camp (The Sorcerer's Summer Safari). It is truly one of the most amazing experiences I've had as magician!  2004 was my third summer of teaching the art to young magicians from all over the world. It's a week of nothing but magic in a "cottage setting" north of Toronto, for young magicians aged 8-18.

I have been doing magic for about 6-7 years now

i got a reffered to this group by a friend

Hi
Hello there, I'm Jon and I live in London, UK. I've been recommended to c_N_c by a friend. I've been interested in close up cards tricks since watching Paul Daniels on tv when I was young and have recently been learning some myself (I can only do simple ones such as 'Do as I do', 'Renegade', 'Fish sandwich', 'Synergy' etc.). As you can see, I'm still fairly new to card tricks and very interested to learn more and improve my skills further so that I can eventually pull-off tricks such as the 'Ultimate ace assembly'. I'm also very interested in sleights and I'm currently practicing the colour change (which is a challenge for me right now).

Looking forward to learn more from what this group offers to new magicians.

Hello everybody!!
I am a Nepali.Ever Heard of Nepal ?
A small kingdom in heart of himalaya, the Mount Everst!!
I am a professional performer in magic;been peeforming for past 7 years .I am 24
I love doing card magic and have a fair control over
basic controls and moves.
My skill level though in card manipulation is a little bit more than just of a beginner. Since not been into this type for long ,naturally i have been using gaffed deck and not pure sleight of hand card magic.
I have practised double lift, doube undercut,a few better card forces;can also execute braue addonns and can do a few false shuffles like greek shift, riffle shuffle and mexican turn over.
My reason for joining this group is that living in nepal does not allow me to have any good books in Magic.
I cannot buy coz they dont impst or sell these stuffs here.
I hope by joining this group i would be able to have a few good books on card magic and could improve my magic act.

Application for CNC
Hi,

I'll like to apply for membership to CNC. My YAHOO user name is WONGANDRE. I was recommended this Website from a fellow card magician.

Anyway, My first interest in magic picked up when i was 10(13 years ago), when i've learnt "out of this world" from a card magician, by recording his video and repeating it over and over again, and discovering the secret on my own. I ended up performing it to my friends. However, it die off a month as that was the only amazing trick i could do, and i wasn't aware of where i could learn magic.

It was about a year and a half ago, when i met this working magician, who did the ambitious card on me and perform "out of this world". That triggered my interest again, and the magician being pleased by my sincere interest taught me some sleights and pass me some materials(mainly books). Next was that 'mentor' brought me to a magic seminar, conducted by whom i think is Singapore Best Magician, JC Sum. I learnt a great deal from him then, from cups & balls, 3 shell monte and topiting. However, my main interest was still in cards, though i also perform other tricks other than just cards.
