Happy First Monkey, Dark Side of the Birthday!!!
You know what we mean.
Conceived by the unholy union you see posting here before you now, Dark Side of the Monkey officially birthed itself on November 29, 2000. Yeah, so we're a day early here. That's ok, because it actually took some time before people actually began posting here, and we got most of the basic designs up. In essence, December 2000 marks our true beginnings, from the original twelve monkeys, to Spanish Day (our very first gimmick, *sniff*), to the posticons and banner, and the glorious banning of Dark Anakin The Stunningly Attractive Sith Lord.
Therefore, we will be celebrating one year of DSotM throughout the coming December... if we fucking feel like it, that is . There may or may not be a few slight changes to the design to accompany the landmark, as well as some tender moments of squishy reflection. Regardless, this thread will be here for those who'd like to wish our li'l precious a happy one, and celebrate the holiday season in a warm, cuddly, non-demoninational kind of way.
But, just make sure to watch where you step. The li'l fucker is still not potty-trained.

You're just one of those hopeless nostalgic types, aren'tcha Torch?
Well, I liked the old design too. It served us well for the past year. But, I like this one better (it's still a green background, by the way, it's just khaki green rather than mint green). It was obvious that some might prefer the "classic" design, so I applied it to the wallpaper page. All of the "old" (as in yesterday) graphics are there, and will remain there. The page also uses that minty green background with the blue links.
And, it's been one year of DSotM, Torch. Pepper and I officially advertised the site on this date one year ago (I think GK and a couple of other folk already knew about it, though).
A flatulent llama that you can't tell from Ethel Merman kept calling me Shirley while I was telling off the damned mailman and his silly rifle and making faces at the dog and reminded me to slap you until you bleed. I wish you a moist and throbbing birthday!
I would've tried to forget that weird craving you get for a monkey in heat, but I vomited so much comparing Oprah to your unnatural love of poodles that I forgot how to make a stuffed bunny out of William Shatner, Canadian.
Seriously though, there's no one I'd rather lick than Martha Stewart. You make me thnk about corncobs every time I catch you picking your nose and I can't stop thinking about kangaroos.
Coincidence can't be duplicated, in paper form or twine
In one of those odd instances involving either bad karma or equally bad lying, DsotM's birthday is shared by me as well (give or take half a day or so). I believe there's a paragraph in the inagaural post of "Rant From The Ray" that deals with such, if memory serves.
There's also this within same, which holds up much better to the test of time:
Quote: 11/30/00 10:53:45 pm : ...this place is either gonna be a hell of a lot of fun shared by all, or a bunch of silly little losers standing about writing nonsense back and forth...
Boo yah. We've achieved our goal. Press button to begin second stage of research.
aww i'm late, any cake left?
happy birthday monkey(s), whatta fun year (i'm sure it was) with yer floyds, and corbis, and other such fabulous meanders. Then there were the way out forums, the little sites that weren't necersserily to do with the message board and the money that you got and pocketed (oops!) The links, the fancy/clever graphic stuff, and not forgetting the amusing posts, and the little names under our big names, and the aliases. But finally the loooove i love the loooove. Well here comes another year of pretencious, obscure, and all round craptastic fun
I'm not slow, just, umm, okay, slow.
Happy belated birthday, monkey place. I love you, man. Where else could one find light up monkeys, droids, Australians, and the odd gay cowboy without the use of illegal substances?
