center serving for compound bows
I have a problem with my center serving which must be known to many archers. I use release with rope (Spiga thumb) which I load onto the string under the arrow. I tried to use various serving materials and several ways of making it (more tight, less tight, longer, shorter, few ways of beginning the serving etc) but every serving starts to open at the point of contact with release rope. This makes , usually the upper part, the serving to starts sliding and my nocking point location is out of tune after 1000 shots. If someone knows some trick to stop this happen, I will be glad to try it.

Re: center serving for compound bows
Hello Borut,

You certainly are not the first to have this problem, but there are a few things I would suggest to help.

1. Try a D-loop. If your release type will work with a loop, then I'm sure this will stop the seperation.

2. If your release aid rope is particulary thin, then you might want to try aslightly thicker rope to spread the load.

3. Try serving your centerserving in the opposite direction. If when your release aid rope rolls off the bow string it is in the direction of wanting to undo the serving, the opposite way might keep it tight.

Best of luck
Ben

many thanks
Dear Ben. Many thanks. I made new serving + attached rope loop (TRU Ball). There were no problems all summer, so I guess the permanent solution is thus obtained. A small decrease in speed does not affect scores (or so it seems). Borut

Help!
I am in a phys ed. class where we were doing archery. Unfortunately, my coach did not tell us much about archery other than how to shoot, etc. On our test, however, it asks us to explain two differnet kinds of bows. Can you help?

Also, It asks to name a NATIONAL competition and to give details about it. Can you help me?

help for begginers
For some general information in english try archer's reference at

www.archersreference.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk

For national competitions you must try national organization; presumably

www.gnas.org for England. If you want to talk more to me, write to borut.zalar@uni-mb.si, but I am not english so I can only tell you about how the things are in my country.
