Woolston Blue Bridge
The blue footbridge on Manchester Road is being pulled down today. I've not heard anything said as to why this is being done but I suspect it's getting too expensive to maintain.

In a way I'm not sad to see this local landmark removed, as it seemed to get more use as a local notice board, displaying banners like "Happy Birthday Fred! 40 Today" which then remain there for several weeks.:rolleyes

I don't know if there's a plan to put a conventional crossing there. The road could seriously do with widening there to prevent traffic backing up when someone needs to turn into the side road.

Re: Woolston Blue Bridge
There's space to widen it but is there the money.
There are already two crossing points within 100yds each way and no real reason people need to cross at that point.
