Wings of Freedom opens today
Opening today is the new avian sanctuary, "Wings of Freedom". The sanctuary, a sprawling complex that covers several square mile, is both a haven for local injured avian as well as those from several worlds. Each world has it's own section that is sub-divided into smaller areas. Each area features the species of that region, predatory and endangered species, as well as those that are extinct outside of captivity.
The sanctuary is designed with a large open domes to allow maximum freedom of the avian of that display area. Special roaming handlers can be found at various points all through out the day, offering visitors the chance to see some birds up close. Classes are offered on the handling and care of pet birds, be it common or exotic.
Schools children are admitted free. Adults are asked a small fee to enter. All money collected goes to funding research, studies, scholarships of those wishing to enter the field of avian sciences and conservation programs.

"Freedom" Receives Endowment
"Wings of Freedom" had no sooner opened that it received it's first outside corporate endowment. SL Industries has pledged to the conservation center an undisclosed figure, but sources from inside the center say that it is expected to cover their operating expenses for a year, freeing up other assets for research, conservation, education and outreach.
When asked, SL Industries CEO Steven Landon had this to say. "I applaud these people for their tireless work. This is the kind of effort we need to see to save our vanishing species, and I'm proud to put my name behind it."
Sanctuary directors could not be reached for direct comment, but were said to be very pleased.

OOC: On a side note, at the doors to the South American sector, a small plaque is there. The inscription reads:
"This area is dedicated to that Highstrung, flighty, nosey, loud mouthed skatter-brained, but lovable in an annoying sorta way, Flower thief. This means you Chatterbox of the SilverHawks"
