Which Magazines do u buy?
What's your favourite magazine and why? Darrin is the associate editor for inside fitness mag and I love buying Oxygen magazine (every month) for the inside scoop on the pros and inspiring stories. What articles are the most popular and enticing to you?
I dig Oxygen too. I started to buy it when it first came out. What articles I like..fat loss, fat loss, fat loss LOL. I like anything about health and improving the physique and ovcourse some beauty tips..I wouldn't be a girl if I was not interested in make up and so on...would I?
I buy Yoga magazines too, and loads of health and body mind, consciouss living...
Re: Which Magazines do u buy?
I love Oxygen, i have bought a few others but they were full of advertisment and very lite on actual helpfull articals!
Em
I have a ....
....subscription to Oxygen but I am dissapointed each time. They constantly contradict themselves and place lots of wrong information in their magazine I find. There is enough misleading info out there already
In the last one I got on the SAME page they stated that Soy is not all it's cracked up to be and that is really doesn't help with all the desieses it claims to (duh!) and then right below that they recommend eating soy.
I do like reading about the pros though and that is why I buy this one... I just wish I couuld be an editor
Re: I have a ....
Hmm I must say I was disapointed with a few too many issues recently My BF actually thought I am buying on of those Hollywood gossip magz He flicked through and could not believe the amount of adds and gossip When Oxygen first cam eout it was was more hardcore fitness girls...now it is going more mainstream...
Re: I have a ....
I used to buy hers muscle & fitness but they no longer have it in the UK, so I'm reduced to buying the guys version, but it actually has loads of great advice and workouts.
girl talk
I had a subscription to Pxygen for 2 years but won't renew.
It's just a re-hash of the same exercises and usually the same models (although I love Monica Brandt anytime in that magazine!)
Far too many adds for fat burners. One day I counted all the full page ads for fat burners and it totalled 52 pages! I know the advertising pays for the magazine however, it's far too much when I'm paying too.
Plus contest reults are always 2-3 months late because of the nature of the magazine business. I can get quicker results and photos online.
I too will pick up the men's muscle magazines just to see what the boys are up to for a change.
What I like in a magazine:
* Real life transformation stories
* Amatuer and pro athlete competition/training history/personal story about how/why they started competing.
* A "Work In Progress" profile of someone on a 4-6 month program with photo and journals updates each month.
* More profiles of successful local natural bodybuilders (i.e. like Maria Cortez, Cheryl Mitchell)
Mags
I buy just about all of them... reason being...I'm checking out the ads.
I used to love oxygen, but now I find it to be recycling a lot of information and it's a little blah. Shelagh is right, tonnes of advertising. Many companies actually have advertising inexchange for product - MuscleMag for example - distributor plays for advertising though product.
I think we, the ladies are in need of a hardcore mag. Training, eating, beauty... and it wouldn't hurt to have some hardcore training methods in there as well.
