What's your favourite protein?
Hey everyone, just thought we'd take a poll to see what everyone is buying out there....what's your favourite protein and its company & flavour?
"I then mix this with a bit of glutamine, stevia and koolaid (the kindin small packets that you normally add sugar to) and that is my PWO shake"
Since it is your post workout shake you shouldnt use stevia. This is the only meal of the day you want an insulin spike and you should add a high GI carb. Even if you are dieting to get lean that spike will help shuttle the amino acids and glucose to your muscles to stop the effects of cortisol and start the repair process as well as replenish muscle glycogen. Unless you are on a ketogenic diet that is.
Re: What's your favourite protein?
my version of an iced coffee treat :
chill your brewed coffee in the fridge til cold.
take some ice cubs crush them with a blender
add your favourite type of protein best if chocolate or vanilla
mix all together makes for a nice cool, refreshing shake and feels like you just made a trip to starbucks without the guilt of having the creamy littered real drink!
protein
LA - I use green, love it! Everybody asks me what I'm drinking lol
Darrin - I was on the AD but even now that I've added carbs back into my diet I'm sticking to low glycemic carbs and very few while leaning out for my 1st show which is in 4.5 weeks. I've tried whey/dextrose/maltodextrin pwo and it didn't suit me well I found.
Re: protein
Darrin, LA or BGB -- does this mean that I can add a packet of Koolaid to my regular protein shake for PWO instead of buying another mixture? If so, I usually add Udo's to my protein shake -- would I still do that?
Re: protein
BGB mentioned that she was doing the AD (Anabokic Diet, a ketogenic diet) so she was adding the koolaid without sugar for flavor then adding stevia for sweetness. If you are not following a keto diet you could add the koolaid with sugar to get the insulin spike you need (the amount depends on your daily caloric intake). You would not add Udo's to this meal, this meal should have as little fat as possible. Adding fat will lower the overall GI of the shake and blunt the insulin effect.
