Re: What made you decide to compete?
Wow, what a nice post:) Thanks Em!!

After training for a couple of years and seeing the dramatic change in my body, Darrin thought I had the potential to step on stage and do very well. It took a lot of nerves to take that first step but with a lot of encouragement I decided to take the plunge. I finally registered for my first show and get some suits--no turning back after that, lol. And basically thats my story of how I decided to finally step on stage. I love the feeling of working towards a goal and competing gives me that.
Also, I was very competitive as a young person and since I got into that accident I had thought I could never compete at anything again...until now--this has given me a whole new possitive outlook on life and something I can focus on.

I stay motivated by amazing people like "YOU" who keep encouraging me to go on and are very supportive. Darrin and I, our whole lives are focussed on fitness so we support each other and it makes life a lot easier.

Thank you soo much for such a touching post--i have 8 weeks until my next comp. and having met great people and reading posts like this keep me going.
Thanks:) :) :)

Re: What made you decide to compete?
Unfortunately my next comp. "2006 Canadian National Fitness and Figure Championships" is being held in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. I wish it was here (Ontario, Canada), I could use a cheering section :) but Alberta has some of the most beautiful competitors. Darrin will be taking a tonne of pictures, which will hopefully make everyone feel like they were right there with us!:) :)

8 weeeks and counting till I'm on stage again. I can't wait, I'm very nervous though.

thank you for everyone for all the caring thoughts and well wishes!!

Re: What made you decide to compete?
Hey Em,

Competing is tuff-if I didn't have the great support team I have, it would be VERY lonley. Dieting and having such a strict lifestyle means having to make a lot of sacrafices! But for me its worth it because the people that love me know how dedicated I am and how hard i have worked to get to where I am today:) and hopefully one day I will be rewarded with a pro card:) :) :)

There is a lot more to competing than what people see, its a whole 'nother world.

I really am nervous about my upcoming comp..i have to travel for this one and i can't bring my makeup artist or hair stylist in my suitcase :(

Darrin has made a difference in 10000's of peoples lives from being a personal trainer and being able to do that is very rewarding--are you looking into courses to become certified? If you are which ones?

Hi Lori,
I am considering certificate iii& iv in fitness through Fitnation It will qualify me for a fitness instructor and PT, But i wont start working till i am at goal weight which hopefully be by july this year as i only have 15kg to go:D

I would love to change peoples lives! Just like i did:)

I have learnt so much in this past 6months not only about me personelly but also about what my body really can do!

I also don't want to be couped up in an office day in day out, don't get me wrong i love psychology but my love is for fitness:) Which is fantastic as i never imagined i would love exercise LOL

Re: What made you decide to compete?
Thanks LA,
I don't think i would ever compete, but i would love to be able to understand the comp scene and perhaps be able to help girls that do want to step on stage!
I know with my gym experience there is no female PT's in my local area that know about bodybuilding let alone advocate heavy weights for women!
So i would love to change womens prospectives on heavy weights and the whole muscle building progress that women will expereince while lifting heavy weights:)
Plus i think i have so much energy i can share it around LOL

Re: What made you decide to compete?
It's great to learn all areas of the fitness life if you want to be a successful trainer. You must have the answers to clients questions and be able to support anyone with thier dreams and goals.

Never say Never...competing is tough but when you reach your final goal....maybe there's one more just waiting to be acheived..:) :)

There is such a stigma with woman lifting heavy weights..lol..they all think they'll grow and look like male bodybuilders..lol. I'm proud of you for sticking with your passion and getting the message there, that woman should be lifting weights!!

Re: What made you decide to compete?
I think lifting heavy weights has been a huge help for me and of course a good clean diet!
But i have tone to my body and 4 months ago i didn't have any shape let alone tone but now WOW i have hips and the all important waist line LOL
So definantly tell anyone that asks me how i lost all my weight i tell the Heavy!! weights:D
You are so right when you say about being a knowing PT i want to have all the answer and stay updated all the time! I know that i have expereinced shoddy PT's with poor knowledge so i don't want to be one of those PTs i want to know everything that is worth knowing, And i love practising on me so i know what works and what doesn't and learn from my mistakes hehe been lots of them LOL
Thankyou LA for all your encouragment and support, It means the world to me :D
