What do you do for exercise?
I wrenched my knee pretty badly over the holidays (rearranging furniture to put up the tree). Before that I had been walking between 2 and 4 miles everyday for the last 5 years. I now can walk around the house and out to the car and around the store (thank goodness ) but I haven't been able to walk any distance to speak of. I came out of class the other day and it was beautiful out and I thought...it couldn't hurt if I walked a little. So I probably did a half mile. Then I went back to my car. When I got out of the car at home I realized my knee was really hurting.....so I had walked too soon. Anyway, I am chomping at the bit to do some real exercise again. I am lifting light weights but it is not the same as something more aerobic.
Now I ask with some envy.....what do you do for exercise?

Well, before my heart attack in mid-October, I was walking in the woods about 4 miles, twice a week; and the treadmill on the other days. I was at 3.0 for 45 minutes. Sadly, I have not taken any walks through the woods and I can only do 10 minutes on the treadmill at 2.0. I am hoping that by the Spring, I will be able to get back to the level I was at before the attack. I also do lots of walking on the job, so every bit counts
Edited for PS...I hope your knee will be better very soon!

I like to walk along the waterfront at twilight or right on dusk. If it's a pretty night I tend to stroll rather than do any walking that would qualify as 'exercise.' There's a huge park a few minutes from my house too, which is a beautiful, serene place to walk in and near the library I go to there's another park with a lake with swans and ducks and geese, and fish and eels in the water. That's a decent walk too.
I should do way more exercising than I actually do; been on my list of 'things to do' since about...1979.
LV,
Good to see you coming back with verve from that heart attack. I had a 'brush with death' a few months back. Tends to give a rather clearer perspective on life.

I am glad you are still around! As for me, I'm a tough old broad - we New York women are a fiesty lot!

To quote somebody-or-other, (Oscar Wilde?) "Whenever I feel the urge to exercise, I lie down until the feeling passes."
