WWI website(s)
In another thread Stimpy refers to this really neat WWI website called, of all things First World War.com Check it out. Lots of facinating things there.

any other recommendations?

Not so much a website as a book. I just got through reading Barbara Tuchman's "The Zimmermann Telegram." It was a pretty fascinating look at the politics of the day and what drove America into the war at last. It's not really addressed in history books that Mexico and Japan both had a serious, if technically noncombatant, role in WW1.
