Me out and burning my pack of matches/ sadness catches it’s breath and blows tears, my actor dashes from the cast of ashes/ look at myself and realize I’m just average/ In a right of passage through bell curves and word fractions/ the past, a timeline full of memory lapses/ but-how-does-this-happen-without-the-dashes/ my mind is like an almanac for car crashes/ Savage hazards are ravaged paths I leave smashed like broken glasses/ Turning ciphers to silent mics in broken circles of nervous passes/ Mic cables give whip lashes cause in fact, your theory’s fiction/ panic stricken dialogue with no one to listen/ permission to piss sir, I’ve been locked up all my life/ permission to build a house and paint all the walls white/ brush strokes in holy water so I can be blessed/ and dress accordingly so I can fit in with all the rest/ of vocabulary with bristles dipped in speech/ tongue lips lungs language homage, my receipt/ when I reach my favorite bridge I’ll be falling out of favor/ words will be the last gasp that I will savor
