SORRY IF THERE'S TYPOS, IT'S 3 IN THE MORNING, LOL
Craig: Our next guest burst onto the music scene three years ago with her multi-platinum album Sweet Kisses, who will be guest starring on three episodes of That 70's Show, beginning with Tuesday night, season premiere.
(show a clip of the 70's Show)
Craig: Please welcome the lovely Jessica Simpson
(Jessica comes out, wearing a black top and pants, and her hair in waves in a half ponytail)
Craig: Welcome to the show
Jessica: Hello
C: You look great
J: Thank you, that, that clip is embarassing...
C: You find that clip embarrasing?
J: Yeah
C: Why's that?
J: Cause I'm pouring a bucket of water all over myself (laughs)
(crowd-guys- yell whoo!!)
C: Did you, did you not know the camera was rolling?
J: No, of course I knew the camera was rolling.
C: Well, you look good at it.
J: Do I? Well I only got to do it once, so they were like 'you better do good.'
C: You probably said you only want to do it once, did you pressure them?
J: Well, then they'd have to fry my hair
C: That's true
J: It was the end of the day
C: Did they pan down, this is just my thinking, did they pan down or do they stay on your face?
J: (hesitates) You have to watch the rest of the show.
C: Yeah yeah, I'm sure they pan down
J: Yeah, they di (laughs)
C: Yeah, that's smart, that's smart. We're gonna talk about the show, but tell em the big news (motions to audience and camera)
J: Big news, I'm getting married. (shows ring)
(audience goes AWWW)
C: Yeah, that's the big news, yeah. And he's a singer from 98 Degrees,
J: yes
C: and of course I would know who that would be
J: (she helps him out) Nick
C: Nick, from 98 Degrees (show a pic of them) there he is, Nick, Lay-Chee.
J: Lachey
C: Lachey, (shows her on his notes how he mispronounced it_
J: read your notes
C: in the west we say Lay-chee, but it's Lachey?
J: Well, it's kind of a long story with it. Like, in high school, and in college, they were Lay-Chee, but when they became performers, it was Lachey (she says Lachey kind of hip and smooth)
C: Oh I see
J: But it just sounds better
C: It does sound better
J: But like all of his college buddies call him Lay-chee.
C: yeah, I was ok with that. SO how long have you guys been dating?
J: Well, we've been together for four years, but we kind of took, a little break, for like 4 months last year.
C: Why did you take a break?
J: It was my fault-
C: Fighting?
J: no, no it was one of those things where I was like, I have to grow up, I have to experience things (sort of mocking herself) and date.
C: You wanted to date other people?
J: Well, I thought I did, but then I tried it, and I hated it.
C: You hated it? You went back to Nick? (Jessica's nodding while he's saying this). SO what was so bad about these other guys? Were they losers, were they other performers? Who were they?
J: Well they all lie, and you know, try to do things you don't want to do...
C: I'm listening
(laughs)
C: Tell me
J: Well it's hard to find a guy who respects you
C: These aren't quality people like Nick?
J: Right, well it's weird, like, trying to date, after people know who you are...like, I really feel bad for people like Britney Spears
C: uh huh
J: And everything that she's goin through right now because, how does she date? Everyone knows everything about her-
C: Every move she makes is reported
J: So I think that's what's been great about Nick and I, is that, we knew each other before everything happened.
C: Mm hmm, so you came back together. And you, are quit ethe conservative lady, aren't you, and you're comfortable talking about this,
J: I'm a conservative lady? (laughs)
C: yeah, you you,
J: What are you trying to say? (she knows exactly what he's talking about)
C: My understanding, these other singers, they dress porvacitavely (Sp?) and, and you are mainly going with your voice, and you dress conservative, but you're also, you said something, didn;t you say (he stutters and Jessica goes:
J: Say it (she motions with her hand)
C: Chasity?
J: (Jess laughs) Chasity?
C: Didn't you say you'd save yourself for your husband, which I think is great, is that true?
J: Yeah it's true (audience claps)
C: That's wonderful
J: You know what's so funny about it is, a magazine asked me, like, they just asked me about it you know, and I told them that I was a virgin, and all the sudden it was like this HUGE thing, like, that I was saving myself for my husband, and really, it was just always something that was just a part of me and my life, and I was shocked that it was on the cover of newspapers and magazines and that it was such a big deal.
C: So that's great, I think that it's wonderful, we don't get that enough out here in Hollywood, or probably anywhere-
J: Yeah, well Nick and I have been together for 4 years so I think it's about time we get married and experience it.
C: I, I think Nick is a very patient man. (laughs) Tell me-
(she's all red, more laughs)
C: (laughs) Tell me, how did he propose?
J: Um, he chartered a yauct, in Hawaii
C: He's a romantic isn't he?
J: He's a, DEEP romantic
C: Yeah, did he, did he get down on his knees did he-
J: No, cause we were on this yauct and we had like waves comin up
C: That's hard, he'd fall over
J: (laughs) Yeah. No no, I was actually in his arms, he was holding me
C: Yeah, and you guys sent notes to each other at all?
J: Yeah, like when we're away, he always does the cute things, like, he gave my best friend a letter to give me everyday on the road, when we were apart, and just cute stuff that like keeps it-
C: How many letters do you think you have in all?
J: wow...50...?
C: He gave you 50 letters, love letter?
J: Cards, like, every card would say, I love this about you, I love that about you
C: You know what I think that's-
J: I think all the guys are like eh, this is ishy gishy
C: It's not that it's so much ishy gishy it's that it's so much work (Jess laughs) I mean I would never, be able to do that. Want to hear my thing?
J: What?
C: If I really like someone, this is the effort, I'll tell my assistant, just get em tickets to the show, I'll meet em at the restraunt, ya know, and they can join me mid meal, I don't care.
J: That's romantic (sarcastic)
C: And I'm lazy yeah
J: Wow
C: Boy
J: Boy
C: Well Nick is workin hard-
J: I'm glad I got Nick (everyone laughs)
C: Yeah I guess so, isn't that true. Well let's talk about this, have you acted before?
J: NO this is my first, I mean, I've worked with acting coaches and stuff and I have a couple of things in the works
C: Mm hmm
J: Like, I have some movie projects that I'm working on right now, so, it's something I;ve always wanted to do, but I wanted to do it in a different way than everybody else.
C: yeah, are you a fan of That 70's Show?
J: Yes, yes I am, it's hysterical, Ashton is hysterical, the whole cast is great
C: Ashton, Topher, one of our favorites
J: Topher is-
C: Villder Valamma
J: (laughs) I'll let you say it like that
C: It's something like that. And how many, you're going to be on three episodes?
J: Um, yeah, I've only done one, so far
C: Well, I hope, I hope in the other two you get to pour water on yourself, I thought, I thought you were very natural at that
J: Yeah well you know, I've watched Baywatch
C: Yeah, there's nothing wrong with a beautiful girl, doing that kind of stuff
J: Well it;s so out of character for me, like, this, this girl, she's really innocent
C: You're innocent, in my opinion
J: Well, yeah
C: So how is she different? Haven't you ever pourn water over your head before?
J: (shaking her head) No, like, on the beach, just taking a bucket of water and
C: Yeah and then running into the water
J: (shakes her head) No
C: No?
J: No
C: It's fun (everyone laughs) yeah, yeah
J: You'd look good doing that (laughs)
C: I know, I know, we've all thought about that. We have to hurry cause coming up later, Warasi is going to sing (shouts and clapping) Nice meeting you
J: Nice meeting you (they shake hands)
C: Jessica Simpson (she waves) We'll be right back after this
