Trading Standards Boo-Boo
I've never been a great fan of some of the practices of our Trading Standards but what I found today really takes the biscuit!

In an info pack being sent out to households warning people to be on their guard against doorstep salespeople was a nice shiny plastic card with the Warrington council logo and the words Trading Standards.

Wearing the card round my neck, it took no time at all to convince some of my relatives that I'd changed job and I now worked for Trading Standards. I reckon that I could con my way anywhere this way.

Someone in that department wants their backside kicking for dreaming up this one! >:

I'll try to get a picture to show just how convincing this card looks!

Bill :)

I have a printed pad of paper nicely printed with the trading standard logo at the top and address at the bottom. Along with the official council lgo.

I reckon I can send out official trading standards letter now!

Re: Trading Standards Boo-Boo
Well Dave between the two of us I think we could con our way into anything! :lol Do you think we could con the local into believing we are just testing the quality of the beer :rollin

I've posted this up on the newspage together with a picture of the card.

Look at this!

Ironically the advice that came with the pack (produced for vunerable people) states that they should ensure that any caller carries a professionnal looking card!:(

Think I should send this one into the Guardian.
