Tides 8, Charlotte 0
Last night, the Tides pounded the Knights 8-0...but the big news is Esix Snead.
Over the past couple of weeks, Esix Snead has been getting closer and closer to the Tides single season record for steals. The record is 50. Mookie Wilson holds that record. In the the first inning, after doubling, stole third and tied Wilson's record. When he stole third...I was thinking that he had 49...and that he had just tied the record. The announcer confirmed. In the second inning, he was clearly hit on the shoulder. The home plate umpire called a foul ball. Snead was very angry, argued, kicked his bat and got himself tossed. After the Tides arguing...the did award Snead his base, but he was already ejected. Ok, that really sucked! Had he stayed in the game, he probably would've passed Mookie Wilson. Shinjo came in and took over in center.
The Tides jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first. They got 2 more in the fourth and 1 more in the fifth and tone more in the sixth. And that's about it.
I'll be going Saturday and Sunday aswell to see Piazza play, I'll keep you posted!
EDIT: I was going to keep score but through the fourth inning, it was dirzzling on and off. It would have HELL trying to keep score while rain came steadily down...
