The Task
-Admiral's Ready Room, Fleet Flagship Order Paramount, in orbit around Capitol-

Ackbar: -Speaking into desk comm unit-
Have the Sith knights arrived yet?

Officer: Negative sir. We estimate that their shuttle should be arriving in system within half an hour.

Ackbar: Very well. When the vessel has reverted to realspace, give it landing clearence and instruct it's passengers to join me in my Ready Room.

Officer: Aye Admiral.
-Comm deactivates-

Re: The Task
Excellent Lt. Colonel, please sit.

Lord Butterfly is currently indesposed, but she should be along in time to accompany on your mission.

*Ackbar taps a hidden control, triggering the holographic projector built into his desk. The image of a large, non-descript asteriod comes into view*

This is planetoid 42C-6 of the outer system Blecharius. During the last great war, it was used as a deep space listening post by both the LSSF and DSSF at different stages of the war. When the truce was called, the post was abandoned, and has lain dormant form more than a century. However, last month, one of our deep range supply convoys picked up energy readings from the planetoid, and was able to relay these images, taken by a short range probot.

*The image changes, zeroing in a specific part of the asteroid, a small crater on its southern hemisphere. Set into the frozen rock, a collection of small, blocky structures is visible, as well as an object that looks like a radio antenna*

From the limited information gleaned from the probe, it is believed that a fringe faction of the LSSF Alliance, the Freeloaders, has resumed the station, and is using its sensor capabilities to monitor various points around this part of the galaxy, including the capital world, Capitol.

This incursion is a direct threat to the security of our Empire. The Freeloaders are not on good terms with the LSSF ruling council, and a strike on the base would not likely strain our breaking truce much further. I could simply order a battle group insystem to destroy the facility, and I intend to do so, but if we were able to first discover what exactly the Freeloaders were monitoring, as well as who they might be working for, we might gain valuable information on the LSSF's contingencies in case our factions come to war. You see, while not formally affiliated, certain intellegence reports indicate that the LSSF military may be inlisting the aid of mercinary and smuggler groups to facilitate their military build up, and the Freeloaders are a significant fringe faction.

Your objective is simple. Take a small strike team, infiltrate the facility, retrieve as much of the monitoring telescope's log data as possible, and get out before my fleet arrives and obliterates the base. I would suggest you use stealth as long as possible; the strength of the mercinary force in the facility is unknown, and if the commander there discovers a threat too soon, he may destroy the computer core and evacuate before you can do anything. If such an event occurs, you are to abort immediately and return to your space craft. I can provide you and your force with a structural layout of the facility, but it may be out of date.

Finally, there are two alternate objectives you must consider. One, try and disable as many of the base's weapons systems as possible before you leave, it will make the fleet's job far easier. Second, if at all possible, try and capture the base commander alive. He could provide us with valuable information under interrigation. However, both of these objectives are secondary and should not compromise your main goal; the imagining data is your primary objective.

I suggest you get some rest, quarters have been prepared for you. I will assemble a team for you, and brief Lord Butterfly when see arrives. Questions?

Alright then, dismissed.

> The Task
*and not so far away, in fact, near there, well, just flying at flagship Order Paramount's side, a tiny, three feet long cloaked Spy Droid intercepts the comlinks, and re-transmits them to the base on Zharad, where OOM-8, commander of The Punishment recieves it while he is stupidly dancing costumed like a banana with some strange droids wich no one can describe*

BATTLE DROID WORKER: Sir, we are recieving a transmission from unit 3D857613957387(to be continued). It looks like a mission to the agents of the Count's so silly army.

OOM-8: *stops dancing* Okay, I'll check. *watches the holographic displays*

BATTLE DROID WORKER: Sir?

OOM-8: *suddenly awakes* Huh? Ah, yes. Prepare a transport. I will check taht base. I want also a detachemnt of Uva Squadron following me.

(NOTE: Since this is not on the DSSF thread, I suppose taht it's public. If it isn't, tell me and I'll just forget all this and pretend I have never read it ;) )

Re: > The Task
Out of Character:
No, its not private. I suppose you can listen in, although I'd like to think my flagship has better security than that. ;)

Could you at least hold off on your plans until we get a little bit into this, I had something laid out. If the apprentices ever decide to start...

Re: The Task
*Hands Butterfly a recorded copy of the briefing (backread a few posts)*

It's all there. When you have completed preperations for the mission, take the Skipray blastboat I have prepare for you and jump to the outer reaches of the target system to await the other member of the mission. One of my special operatives is already waiting at the transport; he's there to assist you on the mission and remind you of your objectives, but he is under your command.

*Salutes*
Good Luck, and May the Force be With you.

*salutes*

Thank you Ackbar. I shall do what must be done.
Who is this that I have working for me? Is he to be trusted? I am only used to working with Jaina, but if I must work with another, I want to know what he is like first.

Re: The Task
Lord Puppy is the only DSSF Sith that could be pulled for duty for this operation. Circumstances may change, but as of right now, it will only be you two, and my operative. My battle group will be waiting out system to arrive on compleation of your mission, or in the event you require immediate evacuation.
