The Rules
Administrators and moderators have the power to issue warnings. If you break a rule, you will receive a private message informing you that one warning or "point" has been added to your record.

The rule that will be most often broken is the "two to three full paragraphs of role play" one - therefore, the first time this happens, you will be let off with a simple reminder.

However, if you continue to break this rule after the reminder, full warnings will be issued.

Full warnings last for a fortnight. After the two weeks is up, that warning (or "point") disappears from your record. If you build up three full warnings in a two-week period, you are skating on very thin ice.

If you break another rule after all that, you will either be banned for an indeterminate amount of time, or banned for good. (It depends on how charitable the admin is feeling at the time.)

Out of Character

1. Please do not harass or flame other members of the board. If you have a problem or feel angry with someone, contact them through a private message or email, never through the forum. This is the most important rule at Impervius and must be adhered to at all times.

2. Real life is, of course, more important than the 'net, but if you're going to be absent for a prolonged period of time please post a notice in the General Discussion forum. Likewise, if you're leaving Impervius for good, let us know! It makes it easier to tell which characters are free. [Not an enforced "rule" as such. It's just helpful.]

3. There is a limit of five characters per account at this forum. There are two main reasons for this. Firstly, five characters are a lot of responsibility already, having to write at least two full paragraphs for each. We recommend you start with just one character and add more as you go along and if you think you can handle more characters. Also, having a huge amount of custom titles under your username makes the board look odd. Please remember to stay true to your characters and strictly no Mary Sues or Gary Stus.

4. Keep signatures to a sensible size. Do not mess up the board's layout with obscenely large images or long lines of text. Similarly, do not add image after image to your signature so that other members have to scroll down for hours before they get to the next post. Avatars mustn’t be larger than 80 x 80 pixels if you choose to have one. Ask the staff if you have any problems with these specifications.

In Character

1. God-moding, or controlling another member's character, is forbidden. You should only include your own characters' thoughts, feelings and actions, nobody else's.

2. Please narrate all in-character posts in the third person. That means typing 'he' or 'she' rather than 'I' or 'we'. In addition, posts should be in the past tense. That is, 'he walked' and not 'he walks'. The third code is blubber.

3. Impervius will not accept brief in-character posts. We are looking for around two or three full paragraphs of role play - preferably more. By a full paragraph, we are talking about at least five lines, but it's really up to the staff to judge what is acceptable and what isn't.

4. If your character is in more than one thread at the same time, please make sure the thread title includes a date, or at the very least specify in a post when the thread is taking place. This ensures that characters are not in two places at once. [Not an enforced rule, but still very important.]
