The Remedy for Hunger Woes [Oct. 17th]
Remus dragged himself into the kitchen. His stomach grumbled, craving for its much needed attention. It was a few months since they'd transferred to this new Headquarters. He supposed Harry had every right to use Grimmauld Place but the boy didn't seem to care about the old house. Neither would he, actually, if Sirius had given it to him.
He closed his eyes for a moment, placing two fingers on his temple as if to clear the headache that had developed. Sirius was gone. Dumbledore was gone. Remus heaved a sigh. This war had taken another close friend and a dear mentor. His brows furrowed slightly at the thought. He had promised himself to survive this was as he had the previous one but he certainly hadn't expected to suffer the loss of yet another set of friends. His hands clenched into fists at his side. He would work harder this time; hard enough to prevent any more death that he could work to prevent.
Remus found what he was looking for: pots, pans, raw ingredients and utensils. A pot of chicken and a plate of medium-cooked meat would be mouth-watering enough. Living alone had had its advantages, Remus smiled slightly. He'd learned to cook for himself, clean his surroundings and had budgeted his funds quite nicely though he didn't appear to buy any new clothes. That never really bothered him and he predicted he'd be a spendthrift even if he had large sums of Galleons.
He straightened up too quickly and experienced a wave of nausea, darkening his vision. Remus leaned on the table for support and had to blink several times to ensure his vision had cleared sufficiently. It was just after the full moon and he especially hated the aftermath of his transformations. Weakness, lethargy and nausea were just to name a few things that confine him to bed most of the day if not for work Remus forces himself to do for the Order even in the most trying times.
