The Official On The Rocks Post
Well, the Rocks have come and gone on their first night at the SET. This is the official thread to post your feelings, both anger and sorrow, from the show and any other things that you would deem pertinent at this time.

And as a Rocks member, I would just like to say thank you to everyone who showed up that night. Without you guys there would be no SET and most likely no Rocks. Thank you everyone for your kind words and as long as the fans want more there will always be more On the Rocks. The Rocks are working on putting together a completely new show for our next performance.

I can't wait for Nat's On the Rocks apparel line.

Now excuse me while I ice my buns... Mike is a big guy.

Frankly, I think the night was a total failure.

WHERE THE FUCK WAS SEAMUS?

We were all promised Seamus and got no Seamus and no explanation. That ruined my night.

In all sincerity, myself and the rest of the rocks were humbled by not only the turn out but the reactions to our stupid games. We thought we might get some reactions but we were taken back with how well everything was received. Thanks again, everyone!

And speaking of icing down a body part, my head hurts. Reid gave me a chairshot from hell last night in the wrasslin game. That and I took quite a thump on my back from the first fall in that game. Ouchie.

I believe,

Quote:
I just got an e-mail from the second city telling me that the reason to go to tonight's show is mainly to see off Martin and Seamus.

Martin and Seamus are leaving. They hate you and the town you live in.

...were your exact words, Mike. You called it. (Except for the whole Martin part; he's no jerk!)

And you betta believe the merchandise line is underway... I'm no kidder! I'm a go-gettin' follow-througher.

Great fun, guys! A lot of effort went into that seemingly insane show, and it... showed. I could tell you were inspired!

Explosive! Emotive! Expletive! Expletive!

Re: Upset
How about a quick recap for those of us who were not fortunate enough(Or on a reasonable bus route. Blech!) to see it?
I am interested in this whole wrasslin' game...was that inspired by wrasslin' or was it an excuse to get really close to each other? What other newfangled games did you guys fearlessly try out?
Was someone injured? And, if so, was there blood? Screams of agony? Paramedics?
Help a poor SETless soul out here!
:)

Re: Upset
Game 1 - Dingier - Cross between take it back and options. Not the greatest

Game 2 - Wrasslin - We got a few suggestions to create wrestlers names. Then we personified them. Then I got hit in the face with a chair. I'd say it was authentic enough.

Game 3 - Fuck Kevin over - We fucked kevin's Ass as different characters

Game 4 - Haiku Battle - We had a Haiku Battle

Game 5 - Strip "NO LAUGH" - anytime someone laughed at our scene, we removed clothes.

Good Show.
Rocka's-

I just wanted to stick my head into this dirty little room to tell you boys, good show. It was nice to see a group so excited about what they were doing. Every troupe should be that excited to do their show.

I'm looking forward to whatever else you nuts have cooked up for your other shows. Look for me... I'll be at your next show... you'll know it's me because I'll be the guy in the back of the house playing X-box. Tony Hawk is the game, right Mike? ;)

Seriously, good job guys. :rollin

Refreshingly entertaining show guys!...Great job!
If all the student troupes were as exciting to watch as On The Rocks, I doubt that anybody will be complaining about the SET needing to change!
I'm soo glad that I decided to bring my mother (for the first time) to see the SET. I didn't realize that we'd be seeing naked men and a simulated guy-on-guy-gang-bang!...she won't stop thanking me!:eek
Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!
Kudos to you, On The Rocks!

Re: Refreshingly entertaining show guys!...Great job!
I suggested earlier that we have Pang run security at the front door for the under-agers. Maybe we should also scan for improv stragglers who are bringing their parents?

And once again, OTR is putting the E back in SET. We've been working on some really "creative" stuff. As long as you guys keep enjoying the new we will keep creating it. That is until our heads fall off... or until our groupie gathering gets too big to hold everyone at the little theater.

Thanks Vivid for the awesome compliment! It's going straight into our "inflate our head" column.

So are we allowed to know who you are?

Also, while I'm sure Chris Pang would do an amazing job at security, I feel this is a bad idea as no ladies would make it past the door. They'd all spend the show admiring the luciousness that is Chris Pang.

I always use haha instead of lol because im never actually "laughing out loud" to myself but i must say, that last thing you wrote is still making me laugh out loud as i type this. Or should i say i was just lmfao-ing right now. i have to be the security to keep the groupies off your guys ass because you guys rule!!! I'll only let the pretty ho's to your backstage dressing room....haha

New Show 2/6/2006
well guys and gals. its that time again. time for you to come to the SET and see what On The Rocks has in store for the masses this time around. It's going to be something completely different, so different in fact that we don't even know what we're going to do until the very minute that we all walk into the bar an hour before the show.

Anybody who would like to join in the pre-show festivities is more than welcome to do so. Give one of us a call and we'll let you know where we're going. And remember, improv is fun - but drunken improv is funner...

Top shelf, gents, enjoyable from first toast to last call. You deserve the buzz you're getting. I suspect the formula is more preparation than inebriation, but I won't say anything. Maybe get a better informed MC is all.

Can Don't Play on the Grass be far behind?

Re: ON the Rocks 2/6
First off, sorry to hear about your head Pangerang. Snowboarding is a tricky thing. But chicks dig it when you eat it hard in the snow and then they have to nurse you back to health in the lodge... yea - that's hot.

As for a well prepared MC and this... "Don't stay off the grass" that you speak of, I would just like to let every know that I was planning on getting a lot more intoxicated before the show. But Mike tells my bartender to cut me off after a few. I suspect that it's because I perform way too well when I'm drunk and Mike doesn't want me showing him up. Cause I know I love me when I'm wasted, so everyone else should too.

Maybe for the next show I can convince the guys that its a good idea to just get totally wasted and do the show. Screw the details.

It's TV's Mike Howland! Your MC introduced you as "Off the Rocks," and, frankly, after that I had trouble following along for the next several minutes.

Don't Play on the Grass: you toke up and do improv! I'm down, but I'm a square, man, and I don't know where to score.

To clarify on preparation vs. inebriation -- I was glad to see terrific improv work that used the booze as an accoutrement and didn't just feature unfettered drunken buffoonery -- which has its place, notwithstanding.

I don't think I had ever seen Nitecap's host onstage before and enjoyed what I saw of him. Same for the guest. You other three I've seen before.

I plan to be there on the 13th -- can I get a discount if I just stay for OTR?

I was the host. Did I introduce them as Off the Rocks? Woops... my bad guys. Sorry about that.

And to the person that took several minutes to get over it... I'm sorry. Really, I'm sorry it took you several minutes to get over it.

You've got to love live theater people! :rollin

Re: On the Rocks
Oh, I get it now. Man, I must have been really hungover to interpret the post the way I did. Sometimes I just have to laugh at myself and my jovial nature.

As for getting a discount for just staying for just On the Rocks, I don't think that you'll be able to get one. This is the time where I would normally insert some type of witty one-liner that is a jab at one party or another, but I often wind up offending people when I do that and I'm trying to get better. So no funny jokes at someone else's expense.

But I did hear a rumor that On the Rocks is trying to get an RSVP list for their final performance on Feb 20th so that we can get the show put into the big theater. I believe I heard that if we get an RSVP list of 60 or more people that say they will show up by 9pm to the theater we can have that space. We've really been packing it in there the last couple weeks and we should really get a bigger space. I think that we're going to need it for next week also because this week's show is going to kick major butt. We've done some things that have never been seen before and most likely will never be seen again. Whether it works or not is a totally different story. But it will be different. And I know I will be laughing at it even if the audience doesn't.

"One of the great things about live television is you never know who's going to show up. Major recording artist, just flew in from London, he needs no introduction ladies and gentlemen here he is."

Any guesses?

I should point out that my question about the OTR discount was NOT a shot at anyone else -- when I was at SET before X-Mas the student troupe and the SCers were terrific. I've just been unreasonably pressed for time.
