The Journey to Hawaii - 6 months to a new body
So I came here to be accountable and to answer to someone, anyone who will kick my butt into gear.

I'm not new to working out, but I feel I have so much to learn.

My husband and I are taking our first beach holiday in Feb. We are going to Hawaii, and I want to feel completely comfortable living in a bathing suit for 10days. Right now I have way too much jiggle going on behind me.

My work schedule has changed, so my gym schedule has changed too. I now can only go to the gym 2 times a week. I want to use these for heavy lifting days. I can run (outdoors and on my treadmill) at home, and I have weights at home for a lighter weight higher rep weight workout at home.

I've been doing a full body 3 days a week for a while now, 3 months. changing up the exercises and the reps and sets on often. Cardio has been 2 HIIT a week with 1 - 2 SS cardio sessions (about 30 - 45mins )

I posted a typical days food in one of the Diet threads.

Basically I would like to look like LoriAnn in the pictures of her at the beach. I sent one of them to my hubby and said this was my goal. I think I have about 20 - 25lbs to lose.

I'm 5'6 - 156 pounds. I'm 35 with 2 kids, and a chocolate lab.

Todays workout was:

Chest flat press 75lbs 3sets x 6 reps
deadlift 83lbs 3 sets x 6 reps
mil press 33lbsy 3 x 6
squat 85lbs 3 x 6
back row 80 3x 6

that's is for now.

Hi Mybell and welcome;) 20-25lb in 6 months is great goal. Nice and steady pace will get you there for sure:D Hawaii OMG...sounds divine:b I am desperate for some warm place..been in freezing New Zealand for the last two years:x Coming from tropical South Africa(lived there 13 years) has been quite a shock to my system:eek )
I will check your eating plan, but generally it is best to leave it for Hotshot..Darrin:hat

Re: The Journey to Hawaii - 6 months to a new body
Ok, I'm trying to figure out a meal plan yet again.

I added whey protein and some almonds to my breakfast and more oatmeal and blueberries.

I cut back on the chicken and tuna amounts, and the dropped the udo's to 1tsp instead of 1/2 or 1 tbsp.

Today is Cardio day, I will be doing it tonight.

meal 1 - 5:30 am - - 1/2scoop whey, 1/3 c oatmeal, 1/3c blueberries, 4egg whites

Meal 2 - 9:00 am - 3oz chicken + 12 almonds + apple

Meal 3 - 12pm - 1/3c tuna water packed , 1tsp udo oil, 2tsp low fat italian dressing, 1/2 red and green pepper, 1/2 c. yogurt -not low fat or sugar free, i'll check numbers at home.

Meal 4 - 3pm - 1/2 scoop whey, salad 2cups , 1 tsp ud oil

meal 5 - 6pm - 3 oz pork, 2 cups veggies + 1/2 tbsp olive oil + 1/2 whole wheat bagel (ate this waiting 45 mins for my car at the shop, I was hungry and thinking I was going to do cardio tonight.)

meal 6 - 9pm - whey protein - rest day today. I'm exhausted.

Changed it a little through out the day.

totals for the day
1431 calories
43 gr fat
116 gr carbs
148 gr protein

Diet
Hi Girl...I see you have changed it a bit;) It looks much better:D Remember you can/should have some starch before your workout. So in the meal before workout cut vegies down and have some starch..it is hard to say how much..depends on your activity, weight,BF etc..but perhaps 15-20 grams carbs. If you are only doing cardio at night then do not have any carbs after...have only your whey. But if you are doing weights as well ( I mean hardcore training-not just a few sets here and there and no intensity) then yes you have carbs too in your PWO meal:b
BTW I could be real picky:\ and say that meal two could have 1/2 cup veg and perhaps only 7 almonds...pleeease do not shoot me:lol

Phew...glad I am not anywhere near you:eek Even thou I used to be a sprinter,I don't think I would out-run the shotgun:lol Please have your 12 almonds ok!!!! I am just being real hardcore:hat I tend to forget that not everyone is aiming for uder 10% BF;) If you stick with the eating plan you have now you should get pretty lean..

Re: Diet
One day I might be as hard core as you, but for now I'll take those extra 5 almonds. I have to say, I'm a little crabby today and irratable.

I'm too weak to lift the gun, so you are safe ;)

Thanks for your help.

I'm feeling a bit more positive about things again.

Re: Diet
Shees...glad I am off the hook;) You say you feel a bit irritable:( Check Wendy's journal, I posted some tips on feeling blue. We all have our triggers...I need plenty of sleep,if not I do not cope too well:x As long as I am well rested I am sweet. Other thing is ..I do not mind low carb eating. Honestly I can go a week without any starch or fruit..no big deal:rolleyes But take away my fat and here comes the trouble:evil I am not sure what your eating was like before, but if you are used to eating plenty of starch...then make sure you have your oats for breakie, then a bit before workout and some carbs after workout;)

Re: Almonds
Mybell, I absolutely LOVE the almonds!!! :b Ohhhhh...almonds and I - we have this love/hate relationship. I love to eat them and hate to stop! :rollin

Congrats on your quest to have a bikini bod for your Hawaii vacation! I think your goals are great and undoubtedly achievable! A bod like LoriAnn's - yeah...I'll take one of those too! :D

Looking forward to following your successes!

tired = crabby
I don't think it was the food making me crabby yesterday, I was extremly tired. I was eating about 1800 - 2000 calories a day, probably a little too much everything. I've been eating like this (see first post or diet 101) for a while, just needed some fine tuning to get some better results.

It's that layer of fat covering all my sexy :smokin muscle that's bugging the heck out of me. >:

I appreciate all the advice.

Rena, I LOVE almonds (cashews, all nuts really) I hate stopping too. Sometimes it's hard having them in the house, I can eat them by the handful. I'd go for nuts before potato chips any day!

Yes, LoriAnn's picture of her on the beach is my motivation. I would love to look as close to that as possible. I think it's highly unlikely, but it's a goal.

Food today:
Meal 1 - 5:15 am
1/2 whey shake, 1/3c oatmeal, 1/3c blueberries, 4 egg whites

meal 2 - 8:30 am
1/2 whey shake, 1/2 whole wheat wrap, 1/2 tbsp almond butter

meal 3 - 12
2 cups spinach, 1/2c tuna, 1tsp udo oil, 1tbsp rasp ving. 1 orange (ok still hungry, add a skim milk latte) :rolleyes

meal 4 - 3 pm
1/2 whey shake,

meal 5 - 6 pm
3 oz chicken, 1 c diced yams, 1 c veggies, 7 almonds

meal 6 - 9ish Post cardio whey shake 1.5 scoops + 1/2 c skim milk ( I can't eat cottage cheese, so I don't think I have too many options beside a whey shake.)

cardio today was HIIT - total of 33mins.

Re: tired = crabby
I was poking around in here so I thought I would say hi!!

Hawaii - that sounds awesome. We hope to go winter 2008 for our 15th anniversary - OMG! Where does time go?:eek

I read the post you made on Renas journal and I am so thinking the same thing about wanting to look fit. I want people to say "Wow she definitely works out!". I think that when I see fit people and I want to be one of them!!

Its soooo totally doable and it sounds like you are heading in the right direction.

Keep us posted on your progress!!

Have a great day too!

Carbs
Looking at your meals I can't seem to figure out where you got that number:152 grams of carbs:rolleyes Unless your whey shake has heaps of carbs?
BTW you can have solid meal after cardio instead of shake. If you are hungry have chicken, tuna, fish etc.and even some fibrous veg. Since you can't eat cottage cheese..like you do not like it or is it lactose intolerance?

Re: Carbs
I'll look at fitday again, maybe entered in the wrong amount of something.

cottage cheese, just plain don't like, tried it many times. not going to happen.

thanks for the info about a meal after cardio, usually I do it late so not in the mood for too much food. I'll keep it in mind though.

Re: Carbs
I think fitday counts the carbs differently if there is fiber in the food. Not sure but I was using it before and someone on another site told me that.

Re: The Journey to Hawaii - 6 months to a new body
Wow, those weights sound so heavy to me!
I have such a long way to go to get there.
For instance - I did leg press yesterday 3x10
with 140 lbs. I probably could have gone more
but Darrin said take it easy on the first week
since I haven't been working out. I also did
deadlifts with a 60lb barbell and I don't know
which is more sore today my quads or my hams!?!?!!?
...not to mention my butt.

VEGAS!! We took a family trip last year to Sedona
and drove over to Vegas for a few day and we just loved
Vegas!! You will have a great time, there is sooo much to do!
Are you staying on the strip??

I also can't wait to hear about your Hawaii trip!!

If you are looking for a nice pool/beach you should try
the Mandalay Bay. We stayed there for that reason because
we had our son with us. It was quite nice.

This will be my 6th trip to Vegas. My sisters first time and my mom went last in 81. So I get to show them all around, I just went with hubby in May.

We are staying in a timeshare that my mom booked. We are flying down with my airmiles. I think the place we are staying is called Summerbay? it's right behind Imperial Place.
