The Girl Next Door
(Juyo) We had just moved out of Todine City when I first met her. I was thirteen and she was twelve. We were moving into our new house in Fountain Hill when I saw her and her parents coming over. Said they wanted to help us move in. Turns out my paretns knew the mahda. I wasn't quite sure who she was, but I figured they must have been close cuz Mahda hugged her. I wasn't paying to much attention to what our parents were doing. I was too busy looking at that girl. She was kind of tall, had pretty brown hair and bluish-green eyes. Her name was Tamla.

I found out quick that Tamla was neither shy nor delicate. She was a rough and tumble kind of girl. After her family helped us move in we went into the back yard to hang out while our parents talked inside. I wasn't sure what to expect from her, and I sure didn't expect to ask me if I wanted to arm wrestle.

Re: The Next Door
(Tamla)

The boy had magenta skin, beautiful blue eyes and short spiky styled berry hair. He was just taller than me and looked about my age. He and his family had just moved in. Pahda wanted us to come over and welcome the new family. That's when when I first saw him. His Pahda said his name was Juyo Situ. I was looking at Juyo and I could tell he was looking at me too.

We were helping the Situs move in. Juyo didn't seem to be put off when I lifted some heavy boxes. I was glad because I thought he was cute.

When we were done with the boxes and furniture Juyo took me to the backyard while the s stayed in to talk. I wasn't quite sure how he would react if I asked him to play wrestle so I made talk for now.

{Where'd yu move from, Juyo?}

Re: The Girl Next Door
{Todine City.}

{Oh really? My mahda used to live there.}

{She had to if she knew my parents. Both of them have lived in Todine City all their lives, until now.}

{I've never lived in the city. What's it like living there?}

{Rough, noisy, and sometimes smelly.}

{I take it you didn't like the city that much.}

{Well, it's not all bad. I can say for certain I've never been bored. Lots of business opportunities. My pahda used to be a...business man, but he's a musician now.}

{What type of business did he have?}

{Um...pharmacuticals.}

I nodded. I wasn't sure why he had to think. I guess his Pahda change professions when he was real young.

{My padha's a pilot in the military.}

{Small world...} he smiled.

{... So's my mahda. What your mahda do?}

{She's a dance teacher at Fountain Hill Academy.}

Re: The Girl Next Door
(Juyo) I had to think of a response when Tamla asked me about my pahda's previous profession. I surely didn't want to tell her he used to deal drugs. And I definitely didn't want to tell her about him being addicted to Stardust. It had him really messed up. He almost died from an overdose. I know. I was the one who found him. Eventually Tamla told me about Fountain Hill Academy, where she went to school. I had already graduated secondary school and was on my way to university to further my studies in performing arts. I was an actor in my own right. I had done a few commercials and independant films. I didn't want to seem like I was bragging so I barely mentioned my acting work. Eventually our conversation ended. I suppose we ran out of things to say. Then, totally out of the blue Tamla asked, {Wanna arm wrestle? No boy's been able to beat me yet. One reason why my friend's brother is scared of me.} She started to roll up her sleeves while she laughed.

I could hardly believe it. She definatly seemed like the type. I was used to seeing feminine delicate girls.

I grinned at her. {Well, I'll be the first.}

Re: The Next Door
(Tamla)

We sat down across from each other at a table in the back yard. Juyo looked pretty confident that he could beat me. y like most boys I dealt with. He was going to find out I wasn't some weak little thing that cries over a broken nail. I didn't mind getting a few bumps and scratches and mussing my hair a bit.

Re: The Next Door
(Juyo)

When we locked hands I found her grip was like most boys I had arm wrestled back home. I wasn't worried I beat most of them and I could beat Tamla too.

{On three...}

She nodded.

{One... Two... Three.}

Re: The Girl Next Door
For a minute or so, it looked like Tam and I were equal in strength. Seems we had a stalemate going. She had this look in her eyes that let me know she was determined to win. We stared each other down, not saying a word. I thought she was about to give up when a bead of sweat started to trickle down her temple. Then she did something I didn't expect. She started to smile, then she spoke.

{Juyo, if I win will you be my boyfriend?} Her question caught me off guard, and the next thing I knew my hand was slammed to the table. {I win,} she said with a grin.

{You distracted me!}

{Doesn't matter. I still won.}

{Oh yeah? I'll show you!}

When she saw I was coming after her, she got up from the table and ran. Moments later I caught her around the waist, then picked her up off the ground. She squealed when I wrestled her to the ground and started to tickle her.

Re: The Girl Next Door
Little did they know they were being watched. Tamjol who lived next door to the new family had been working on a painting in her backyard when she heard the rukus. She had seen the 'sold' sign on the property next door.

{Then new family must have moved in. They must have a couple kids.} she thought as she went to see what was going on.

She was a bit surprised to see Tamla wresting with a strange boy.

{Hey, Tamla! Who's your new friend?} she called from the fence.

Re: The Girl Next Door
(Tamla) Juyo had me on my back and he was tickling me. I was going nuts! I started screaming and laughing when he lifted up my shirt and started blowing on my stomach. Boy, he sure does get familiar fast! I didn't mind, cuz I really liked him a lot. I looked up when I heard someone call my name. It was Tamjol looking over the fence at us. Right when she asked who Juyo was, he stuck his head all the way up my shirt! When I saw Tamjol's eyes bug out in surprise, I felt my face getting hot. Juyo got familiar really fast!

{Oh! Hi, Tamjol.} I started as Juyo was getting his head out from my shirt.

{This is Juyo. We helped his family move there stuff in the house. Our parents are talking in the house.} I said before excepting Juyo hand to help me up.

{Nice to meet you, Juyo. Welcome to Fountain Hill.} We heard Tamjol say.

Re: The Girl Next Door
(Juyo) As I helped Tamla up, I noticed she was kind of blushing. I guessed when I put my head up her shirt it kind of embarassed her. Mostly cuz her friend saw us.

{Hey Tamla, where's your house?}

{I live five houses down.}

{Ok. You think your parents would mind if I...came over for a while?}

{I don't know. We could go in and ask them, if you want. If your parents say yes, I don't see why not.}

Tamla didn't know it, but I was just trying to talk to her until her friend went back to what she was doing so we could have some privacy. But she kept hanging over the fence staring at us. I noticed some woods and a creek behind the house and asked Tamla if she wanted to take a walk. She agreed. If things went the way I wanted, I was going to get to kiss that girl!

Re: The Girl Next Door
I didn't mean to stare. It was just that I was surprised at how friendly Juyo had gotten so quickly. And the fact that he wasn't frightened or put off by Tamla.

{See you guys, latter.} I said with a shurg a turned to get back to my painting.

I barely hear Tamla's friend say good bye. Tamla waved good bye as she climbed over the fence. I was already over.

(Tamla) Juyo took me to the woods out back. I guess he wanted some privacy. He put his arm around my waist while he talked to me. When he started to rub the small of my back, I realized what he was trying to do. I had learned about erogenous zones in sex ed. He was trying to seduce me...and I didn't mind.

Re: The Girl Next Door
{Do you have a boyfreind, Tamla?} he asked.

{Nah. Boys around here seem to be scared of me. Say I'm too rough. I think they're all just too wimpy. Mahda told me she was the same way when she was my age.}

{I'm not afraid of you,} he replied as he pulled me closer. {I really like you a lot, Tam,} he whispered softly in my ear, his lips barely an inch away from another sensitive spot of mine. A tiny shiver rippled through my body when he lightly kissed me there.

Re: The Girl Next Door
(Juyo) Tamla might have been a tomboy, but she was still a girl. It didn't keep her from feeling soft to my touch and smelling sweet. I could tell she liked the way I was touching her. After kissing her behind her ear I turned her around to face me, then kissed her. Not like a boy would, but like a man. I was thirteen and considered an adult so I didn't see any point to acting like a kid towards her. After kissing her I told her I wanted to be her boyfriend. She told me she wanted that too. Over the following months Tam and I would see each other often. I was kind of surprised how things got serious really fast between us. I told my parents how I felt about her and Pahda suggested I ask her parents to let us become betrothed. She was under thirteen so she still had to get her parents' approval.

Before going to Tamla's house, I purchased an amber promise stome. I made sure to dress nice. Not too formal but not bummy either. When I got to her house, she and her parents were all there.

Re: The Girl Next Door
(Tamla) Juyo had told me that he was going to ask my parents for my hand. I was nervous for him. I wasn't sure if they would approve, especially Pahda. I was his only little girl and he also wanted me to focus on my studies in architechture. When Juyo finally arrived, he was dressed different. He looked so handsome. He was always handsome to me, but he just didn't look like he was about to run the streets, as Pahda would say.

Re: The Girl Next Door
(Juyo) I was a little bit nervous. My parents were there to show their supposrt, so that helped. I heard Master Makel can be quiet protective of Tamla. She is his only child and his only daughter, so that's understandable. Much to my relief, the Meglouses agreed to let Tamla become my betrothed. I was so happy! I couldn't wait to tell all my friends! I made sure to invite them to our betrohal ceremony.

Re: The Girl Next Door
(Tamla) I was so excited about Juyo and I getting betrothed that I called Tamjol that very evening.

{Oh, Tamjol, you should see the promise stone he gave me!}

{How big is it?}

{Oh, it's about normal size. It's just the prettiest shade of amber I've ever seen!}

{Wow! You've got to come over tomorrow to show me!}

{I will. I'm inviting you to our betrothal ceremony. It's set for one month from now.}

{I'll definitely be there!} Soon our conversation moved to a different subject. Tamjol was telling me about a new boy she was interested in at school.

Re: The Girl Next Door
{Their's this new boy at school and his name's Centav (Simple). He has coral colored skin, red orange hair and most beautiful, sweet blue eyes.}

{Have you talked to him?}

{Better! Your Mahda paired us to practice the Bidi last week. We talked after that during lunch. I was telling him about my paintings and he seemed interested.}
