The Failure Of A Slave?
More ridiculous rhetoric from gorean rt'ers:
"She holds no choice but to obey or fail to be a gorean slave girl".
-Bear
Now first off how could a gorean slave, in the truest sense nonconsensual, ever fail?
I suppose they could if it was some sort of consensual thing, but then of course it certainly would not be a gorean form of slavery, and thus would just be another bdsm/D/s form of kink.
Which is all gorean lifestyle is, they're just to embarrased and uptight to admit it.
But if a "gorean slave" could "fail" in her "slavitude" why would it be the girls fault, why does she "fail".
If anything is it not the masters fault if he can not get a girl to submit to him. Does not the master fail at being gorean.

Gorean slavery is not a nonconsentual form of slavery. Yes I know I've heard all the tripe about...she feels so slavely, she had no choice but to follow her heat....Ummmm heart. It is a form of BDSM they try to emulate by adding the John Norman bibles. If anything is it not the masters fault if he can not get a girl to submit to him. Does not the master fail at being gorean. I don't think its his fault really. Its just an inept ability to totally control another person. And it sounds better to say, "Its her fault not mine."

It's very easy to master someone who believes the concept " you have two choices, fail or obey" or be labelled a failure. The label failure is something no one of us wants stamped on our foreheads. The reality is, it's based on situations. I have heard Bear state that sometimes a girl can not help but fail, citing the example of giving out to personal information online that might jeopardize her safety. Sounds like a tap dance around the reality of life on Bear's part, he says she has failed her slavery, yet says it might be OK in that situation but your still a failure.
Having been around that group for a very long time, I can not accept the concept she fails her slavery. This says to me, the slave has not been enslaved by the master but has enslaved herself, which is a contradiction in terms. It's not her slavery, it's in reality his slavery he should have impressed upon her and she willing accepted it. Therefore how can one fail something that isn't hers to begin with.
I find the whole concept of failure as they denote it, a way to coercion women into believing it's all on their shoulders, that the men have no duty or responsibility to master, even though they bear the title of master. If this is really the case, then that form of slavery has nothing to do with mastery, it has all to do with women blind enough to believe the dogma. The truth of the matter is, once he has successfully enslaved a woman, she can be one of two things, pleasing or not. One man told me once about a discussion he had with his slave, she told him, " I am what you made me to be" (after a displeasing act on her part). He said he thought about that for a moment, and said to himself, it's true, what she is, is my responsibility because I own and control her. That is really the attitude of one who understands, mastery falls on his shoulders, not hers. If his slave displeased him, it's his duty to correct her, not her duty to master herself for him.
Guess that just shows you one thing, some are willing and able to master without mental coercion and that is the reality of Gorean Mastery here on Earth. Others, just can't do it without the females doing it for them, and those men lack the testicular fortitude to be true men and need the illusion they surround themselves with to make it happen.
Re: The Failure Of A Slave?
There are many failures on IRC Gor. I don't think that a slave fails her master or the master fails his slave. I think its more that the slave and master fail themselves. When a slave does something ie: bickers with other slaves in channel (chatrooms to you AOLers) or defies or is blatantly disobedient. It may be just the heat of the moment, but the bottom line is the slave is displeasing. It is her own failure. She started out...whether she's real-life or an online slave...to be a Gorean slave. She decided she wanted to be a Gorean slave because she wanted to be pleasing to a man. In her actions she wasn't, thus she didn't really fail the master, she failed her own goal. The same goes for the master. He appears weak, too kind, too harsh, a bozo etc...fill in your own adjective. He hasn't failed a slave, FW or another master. He lost his direction and goal as well. The only person he failed was himself.
A more positive note: We learn from our mistakes!
As in other areas of our lives we all make mistakes, the people who move on grow and learn valuable life lessons. Failure doesn't have to be a constant state. :)
