"The Curse Lives" Thus reads a popular tee shirt now selling at Modells. (The same store that for 2 years whenever I asked them if they had any Fonzy jerseys I got a blank stare, and a short "who is he?")
I had the misfortune of spending a few hours with some Yankee fans over the weekend. Their conclusion, the curse lives.
It seems even Yankee fans admit the 2003 version of the Yankees is below standard. The Yankees, the team that won so many championships ( ask any Yankee fan for the number - it's the highest they can count ) used to be able beat good teams.
This year the Yankees didn't win because they were the superior team. (Ask any Yankee fan.) They won because the curse still lives. (Ask any Red Sox fan.)
Already I hear Yankee fans making fun of the Marlins because the clean up hitter is under 20 years old. As I heard one Yankee fan put it, they aren't a major league team, they are a little league team. I wonder if Steinbrenner is embarrassed that his major league team lost the first game to a little league team?
