Tasty Solutions
what does everyone add to their veggies, chicken....ect to add some nice flavour but not too many calories?
- i personally wont go without mrs.dash spices - they can be added to just about anything!
- recently i picked up a jar of garlic chilli sauce very good in stir fry and not too spicey as i am sensitive to hot things
Re: Tasty Solutions
Go for it Mike, just make sure that you dont add more than 30-50 cals with condiments per meal. Another good tip for adding flavor to your veg or stir fry is to use beef or chicken stock. When your stir fry is almost ready to go crank up the heat on the stove so that your pan is very hot, add chicken or beef stock (used low fat canned stock and add 1/4 cup or less per serving) once it is bubbling you want to thicken the "sauce". Combine a few tablespoons of cold water with a teaspoon or less of corn starch. Pour cornstarch mixture into stir fry and stir briskly until sauce thickens (a few seconds) and this will give you a rich, thick , flavorful sauce. Add a bit of ginger and garlic and you have yourself a Chinese style stir fry.

back to the grocery store i go for that!! WOWWWZERS..my mouth is watering thinking about it.... who needs mandarin when we have Darrin at our finger tips i will definately let you know what i think!!
maybe its been hard for me to get on track cause im trying to be too strict and boring with foods - time to have fun in the kitchen but remain healthy!
Re: Tasty Solutions
Giddy up!! Thats the key, you cant keep eating boring foods or you will crave dirty food. The more skills you have in the kitchen the easier it is. I can go into the kitchen and in minutes whip something up that fits into my stats or Lori-Ann's that would taste like something out of fine restaurant. If you become as passionate about food and finding out what foods and flavors go together as hitting the weights you will stay in great shape 24/7 and you wont feel like you miss anything.
You have the new copy of Inside Fitness, the "On the Menu" article I wrote this month contains a recipe I developed and served to our "Moms" and family on Mother's Day and everyone loved it. They couldnt believe how healthy it was because it didnt taste like boring diet food. If they all at like that all the time we would have one shredded family!
I have to start putting more recipe ideas on paper instead of just whipping them up and eating them
Re: Tasty Solutions
H-E-L-L-O - i showed up my asian roommate in the kitchen today....stir fry was BANG on...i will definately be eating more of this...( if i am allowed )

Re: Tasty Solutions
its crazy what being bored can do to ya!!! least im NOT eating..just searching the net for fitness articles and recipe ideas so here is another idea you may wish to try
( again havent personally tried this)
Homemade - sugar free syrup:
1/3 cup boiling water
2/3 cup sweetner ( splenda)
1/6 teaspoon maple flavoring ( may need to alter depending how how much maple taste u want....could use other flavoring too... vanilla would be yummy too)
Directions:
Pour boiling water over sweetner and add maple flavoring. Stir until dissolved. Pour into a pint jar. When cool, refrigerate.
I am thinking this would add a nice sweetness to some oatmeal, a shake..protein pancakes... anything i suppose depends how creative you are feeling
if you are feeling creative give this a shot let me know if it works out
