Squeak in your dash ! XJ's
I have found a big torment lately. The incessant squeak which you might think are the plastic bits in the dash is actually the Heater/A/C Actuotor. Closer it comes from the little black front panel which clips on behind the three knobs you turn for air, fan, heat etc. I found this because I had to fully pull out the dash (upto air bag passenger side) While driving the oise comes from everywhere and nowhere! by process of elimination we found it exactly after about 1,000klms with the dash partly disasembled ! So if any one else can not find that sqeak, just clip off the small TV shape plastic cover around the radio/cassette, heater knobs etc. There are four screws one at each corner, just loosen and tighten until squeak has gone away. I loosened one corner and tightened three, but kept cover off for a while to road test and adjust (cover just puls off) What was I pulling the dash out for ? Well it is to get to the A/C evaporator again as it was not fixed under warranty and no-one wanted to do the job ! One quote to fix evaporator and manifold $1,500-00 with no guarantee ! I think Jeep should at least supply the parts to me for the effort I have shown to fix their problems! There are two other series two Jeeps local with the same problem ! It is lsted in the Alldata Service bulletin updates.
