Sosarian Bardic Society.. I was just scanning the High Council Boards and once again see a chasm developing. Ari and Av had suggested keeping things in game and perhaps using the town boards to pass information. I have an alternate idea I'd like to forward, perhaps some of you higher ups could implement it better than I. Why do we not, all camps, create a Sosarian News service to pass news and storylines to the masses? A Bardic Society who's goal is to pass the shards RP history and stories to the people. News in ancient Europe was mostly passed by Bards and troubadors who lived off of the information they carried. Such was the only way many people could hear tales of far off lands and openly welcomed Bards in all cities and factions. These Neutral third parties could serve as intermediaries, couriers, and even static non-militant members of involved guilds. And I believe could help alleviate what I see as an infuriating attitude of "you can't possibly know that". With Bards travelling the land telling the tales, it would be possible that even the street urchins of Skara could possibly know that.... |

That is a great idea and plays hand in hand with getting our stories out by book or ig board forms....what better way then to hand a book to the Bardic Society and letting them roam the streets giving and singing the news!!

If anyone wants to get in let me know,or start another,I guess it doesnt really matter,although its called the SkaraBrae bards A$$ociation,not society,I guess that can be changed if needed. I havent been playing much lately though,so Robinton hasnt posted any more good stories. |

Nothin, for nothing, but I think if this were to fly on all sides as a neutral group, it'd have to be a collection of bards from the various cities of Britannia, not deemed the Skara Brae Bards. Not that I have any great ideas for names, but I just think it'd be more appropriate for a neutral group to not be tied to one town, otherwise they may feel the need at some time to protect their home. Re: Sosarian Bardic Society.. The idea was introduced last night at the GM meeting but not discussed..so the thought is out there ill further the idea by talking to some gms on a one on one basis But the idea is receptive!! *grins* Ari |

Re: Sosarian Bardic Society.. The input I'm getting is beginnning to make me lean towards heralds in each guild as well as independant bards.. I think Jakob has this in mind for the Highlanders. While this might be harder to coordinate, it will assure that each group gets the news it wants issued out to the public. Cornelius is putting together his citizens stone, and I think the bards would be a good addition to this venture, putting the news services in the hands of the public. Also the idea of barkeeps scattered across the landscape is a great idea, maybe we could put one out front of the Temple, labeled as a healer or something, that way guild news could be had 24/7 for our members, and anyone interested in guild activities.... Aside from the secret ones anyway..
