Song for a Long Car Ride
Back story: I started writing this song two years ago when my now-husband and I were separated, during those long lonely nights that led me to the MLP community online...
Ahem. Anyway. It went unfinished until I met my friend Jared, who's in love with a girl in AZ who he's never met. So I had to finish the song I wrote for Jason in honor of my friend and his girlfriend. Does that make sense?
Anyway, here's the lyrics, and if you want a copy of the .mp3, email me at goofychica3000@ hotmail.com and we'll figure something out!
----------
(key of Gm, folky guitar ballad)
I will call you on Wednesday night
Remember me by these tail lights
Turning left at the end of your street
There's no one in my passengers' seat.
Lonely voices on my radio
Tear apart the ones who go
True love, they sing, never comes twice...
I turn them off, can't take their advice
Back to the real
Back to reports & tests, Back to the second best
I'll be all right
No time to be heartsick
I've got skin as thick as ice
Think I left a piece of me upstairs
Keep it safe, I don't make spares
How could you give more than your word?
I guess I just want to be heard
How long can you wait by the phone?
Will I lose you if we postpone?
Temptations are starting to pursue...
And how are they by you?
Back at the wheel
Back on the interstate I can't concentrate
I'll be all right
I'll be as good as gold,
I've got skin as cold as ice
So how long did you stand by the door?
How long till we stand no more?
One day, this fight will cease....
And we'll be in the same car, two faces east
Goodbye, my dear
We've got so much to prove before it's me and you
I'll be all right....
Just give me one more night.
Don't call me tonight.
One of my projects today is setting up an .mp3 section to my web page so you all can hear me as a rock star! (I also have a nice cover of the song at the end of the Care Bears II movie.)
So as soon as that's up, you can download it there.
Re: Song for a Long Car Ride
