Something old something new, something silver something blue
~ Feb 01 2869 ~
With a tired sigh Jon removed his reading glasses and set them on the desk, along with the pen he had been using. With one hand, he reached up to rub his tired eyes as in the background the music faded then a whirring click as the player changed disks once more. Standing up he reached for the mug that sat on the corner of his desk then took a sip. He grimaced at the fact the liquid was tepid at best then shrugged and finished it off. He could make another cup of tea later. When he tackled the paperwork that buried his desk that is.
Checking the coffee pot he frowned then re-filled it and started the water brewing. As it percolated, he turned and surveyed his room. Over the past several months it had went from being packed with nick-knacks and other personalizing items to bare bones once again. It looked as bare if not more so then when he arrived for the first time in Limbo. Even all the books on the regulations and laws were gone. Though they had been moved to one of the offices in stead of being packed away.
The gurgle coming from the coffee pot brought him out of his thoughts like someone politely coughing. With a shake of his head he turned his thoughts from the past to the future. In one of the few chances he had to speak with Will after he went through the de-modification process, he had asked the former SilverHawk about it. What one went through before and after, the lingering side effect and the off hand chances that something might go wrong. With another sigh he glanced at the crono and noted that it was past lunch. Almost dinner really. Deciding to put the rest of the paperwork on hold, he headed into his bedroom then the bathroom. There he downed the prescribed vitamin and mineral supplements, the other meds as well as something for the budding headache. Checking himself over in the mirror he turned and left. Locking his door behind him. He did not need anyone snooping into his personal business at this point in time.
When he arrived in the mess hall some minutes later, it was empty. he was in luck it seemed. Moving into the kitchen, he fixed himself a salad then headed into the mess hall itself. As he sat there eating, he couldn't help but think about past memories. A smile crossed his face as they came to him. Sara's continued failure to make anything edible, Chatterbox's continued fiascos that ended in the kitchen having to be cleaned from one end to the other before anything could be fixed, his own few barely edible meals. Then there was Will and the Kidd. Both of whom could cook quite decently. Of the others... well, there was nothing truly memorable. Looking down he realized he was finished eating so got up and took care of everything then left.
He stopped by his office long enough to pick up the stack of reports from the past week's patrols and headed to the lift. He frowned when the lift started to go down, then shrugged as he leaned against the wall, leafing through the reports. He glanced up when the doors opened. In stepped James AKA Bluegrass. Jon just arched an eyebrow at the Cowboy then went back to looking thought the reports. James paused in the lift door before stepping in and hitting the command deck button.
Not looking up from the papers, Jon spoke. "Problems Rawhide?"
"uh... no... nothings wrong Skipper...." James said. "Why ya ask?"
"Your skittish," Jon pointed out looking up, a hint of a smirk on his face.
James reached up and adjusted his hat, finding any excuse for not looking at the Lieutenant. "oh..." he shrugged. "Nothing's wrong..."
"I see." Jon said as the lift stopped and the doors opened and he started to walk out. But he paused and turned, deliberately looking at James. "Don't worry, nothing will ever be said.... about anything." With that the doors closed on a very started looking SilverHawk. Turning around again Jon walked off towards his room. He turned his head and smirked at Moonstryker who had his door open. "Problems Private?"
Kyle just stared a moment then shook his head. "None Lieutenant. None at all."
"Good, keep it that way," Jon said favoring him with an annoyed look. A moment later he stepped into his room, closed the door and locked it.

Jonathan had managed to get most of his belongings packed away, except for a couple casual outfits. He wasn't leaving quite yet. He had a few loose ends to tie up before he left. He sat down at his personal COM station to check if he had any messages. He filtered through the junk until he got to two messages that were worth taking a looks at. The first was a reply from Lorie about a message he'd sent her. The second was from Sapphire. Those two just happened to be women he really needed to talk to before he left.

Re: Something old something new, something silver something
After some few minutes of considering what to write as a reply, he finally typed them out.
Hey baby doll,
Friday will be fine. Any particular place you want to hit? I'm paying, no getting over that fact ~_^
The Terror Man
Once he read it over a few times he hit the send button then went on to the next one. Sapphire's would require a bit more thought. Especially with such conflicting emotions when it came to dealing with her....
Sapphire,
When you get a chance after your off duty, stop by, we need to talk.
Quicksilver
ps. DO NOT bring Chatterbox... I want this to be private, not public!
Again he read it over, several times. He almost hit delete after the first reading. But in the end he hit send. Since he was finished he closed down the COM station and headed towards his bedroom. It was getting late and tomorow was another busy day.
Re: Something old something new, something silver something
It was the end of his shift and the Copper Kidd was ready to wind down. But not before a brief meeting with the Commander. He had told him to stop by his office at the end of his shift because the Commander had something important to talk to him about. Mikel had no idea what this was about. From Stargazer's tone it didn't seem like it was something bad, just important. The Kidd got the feeling that there were going to be some major changes around here, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He was very happy that Lt. Quicksilver was back with them, but something about him was different. He always seemed like a no nonsense type of guy, but he came back with a sense of humor. Mikel also noticed Jonathan always seemed a bit concerned about his daughter, Camiel. And everyone noticed that something was going on with him and Sapphire.
'I really hope nothing negative is on the horizon. We have enough problems with the Mob and the MATI.'
The Copper Kidd walked to the Commander's office in deep thought the entire time. Once he made it to the old fashioned wooden door he lifted his flesh hand to the frosted glass. He hesitated before he knocked. He just got the feeling that once he walked through that door his life would never be the same.

"As you might have figured, Quicksilver is about to retire," Stargazer explained. "I noticed no one talks about it but I get the feeling they know what's coming, even you. He's been through a lot as of late and he's served Limbo well. You have too, and it's time that you got your next promotion."
