 Skankees in the RED $85M?
They had noted this in the Daily News that due to the luxury tax set by Bud Selig and MLB, the Yankees are in the RED by a total of $85 million! This DESPITE having over 4 million people attend their stadium, they lost in other areas such as undervaluing their TV worth via YES.
To think, Steinbrenner spent over a billion dollars in 5 years and NO PENNANT to show for it!
Perhaps it is the "curse of the Mets" since we were the last team that the Yankees beat in the World Series (2000). They've been in it twice since then and LOST to two teams that didn't exist 15 years ago (Arizona Diamondbacks - 2001, Florida Marlins - 2003)
