Six Titans fined for excessive celebration
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Nov. 14, 2003) -- Six members of the Tennessee Titans' defense were fined by the NFL for an end zone celebration in last week's victory over the Miami Dolphins.

Linebacker Keith Bulluck, defensive tackle Robaire Smith, safety Tank Williams, cornerbacks Andre Dyson and Samari Rolle, and defensive end Kevin Carter were fined for their celebration in the 31-7 victory.

Any appeals will be heard on a player-by-player basis.

The players were fined for a celebration following Dyson's 11-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second half. The group dance lasted six seconds.

Rolle said the dance was patterned after one the players had seen on a rap video, but was not planned or choreographed.

The league prohibits on-field celebrations it deems excessive, prolonged or premeditated.

Also, the Titans were told that defensive end Jevon Kearse was credited with an additional sack against the Dolphins. The change raised his season total to 9.5 and tied him for the AFC lead with Shaun Ellis of the New York Jets.

A review by the Elias Sports Bureau concluded the sack was first incorrectly credited to Carlos Hall.

Re: Six Titans fined for excessive celebration
this kind of stuff has really gotten out of hand. some of the dances and gyrations players go thru after touchdowns i dont necessarily like, but come on now, its a freaking GAME.........guys should be able to celebrate a bit after scoring. certainly obvious taunting or finger pointing at your opponent should not be tolerated, but a SIX second dance is excessive? SIX SECONDS?????? come on NFL.

is there a definitive rule pertaining to what the league purportedly deems as excessive celebration? if there is, the league should make it clear to the teams, the players and yes the FANS. if there is not a clear and concise rule, they damn well better come up with one, and by all means, as long as the celebration is not obviously directed to the opponent, teams should have a bit of lattitude in thier celebrations.

but this is the NFL.........the No Fun League.............or is NFL for No Fan Loyalty.

ITS A FREAKING GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rant off :)

Imagine that in hockey? Who was is that uses to ride on his stick, steering it like a rudder? Tiger Williams? No, couldn't be him. He never ever scored. Well I can't remember.

I'd KILL for a Nobel Peace Prize.
