Siobhan's new album
Released in the UK on Monday!!!

here's HMV's review:

Reviews
hmv.co.uk February 2002
With 'Immigrant Flower', the born-and-raised Liverpudlian makes her solo debut on Gravity as a recently-settled Music City resident, and the command she displays in combining her own roots in British folk-rock and pop with country, Americana and roots-rock brings a new dimension to the much-abused term “crossover.” The range of solid-gold material mined on 'Immigrant Flower' draws from both sides of The Pond. Maher-Kennedy's U.K. side is represented by the tender, aching “Soap AndWater” (previously recorded by Kristin Hersh, both with Throwing Muses and solo), a high-stepping roadhouse reading of Richard & Linda Thompson's classic “I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight” and a shimmering rendition of The Waterboys' tender “When You Go Away.” Siobhan proves herself equally at home Stateside, punching up Julie Miller's “Kiss On The Lips,” digging deep into Joe Henry's harrowing “King's Highway,” rocking out on Cheri Knight's blistering “Light Out In TheRoad,” and wrapping cosily around the Al Anderson/Gary Nicholson chestnut, “A Better Word For Love” (previously covered by NRBQ, Dave Edmunds and Lee Roy Parnell). Fittingly, the singer doubles up on the twangtrustees, delivering a pair of gorgeous Ray Kennedy/Tom Littlefield collaborations (“There Was A Time” and “Why'd You Have To Be So Good To Me”) along with Steve Earle's anthemic “Fearless Heart” and the anything-goes “Promise You Anything.” Production is by the vaunted 'twangtrust' team of Earle and Siobhan's husband Ray Kennedy, and the singer's assured, clearwater vocals soar atop a bedrock of ace musicians culled from Earle's Dukes, Emmylou Harris' Spyboy, the Del McCoury Band and A-list sessioneers. The 'Immigrant Flower' has been successfully grafted onto sturdy, American stock; it's our lucky fate to enjoy its blossoming.

Re: Siobhan's new album
I bought mine today, and I love it!! Siobhan sounds superb, the instrumentation is great (countrified, as you might well expect) and some corking songs. My fave is "There Was A Time" and the Richard Thompson classic "...Bright Lights...". Well done Siobhan!! :)

Hmm...I think I'm gonna buy this album the next chance I get: is there any chance of a track by track review from all the Siobhan fans out there?

A very presumptuous Nick :)

Re: Siobhan's new album
Debbi said in her online chat at RP that she wouldn't mind recording with Siobhan again...I guess we all wouldn't mind that, would we?:)

Hey Chris!!

Welcome to the board. :) It was like that for me, I found out at the last minute, I think a day or two before the release date, and that was just cos I happened to stumble on something on the net. I heard something about Bright Lights being a possible single, as it will be used on a new BBC1 drama, so maybe Siobhan will be getting a top 20 hit again. :D
