Sigh
I must say, I am normally a bit wary of fan-fictions, and after reading the Brimstone ones, I can say that it does not sway my opinion one bit.

Well written and dark in it's presentation, and never too over the top. That is not what I have read at all. What I have read more closely resembles episodes of Buffy or Charmed in the choice of characters and storylines than an episode of Brimstone. To point it plainly they are too cheesy. The partnership with one of the damned was a poor storyline decision, as one of the focal points of the original show was his undying love for his former wife. This was cast aside quite easily by the fan fiction writers for the more exciting story of joining in with one of the damned. And the child idea? Come now. He's dead, no mention of him being able to conceive children was ever mentioned in the show.

I am not pleased to have to come to such a conclusion, nor am I intentionally flaming the writers for the admirable job of keeping what was a great show alive.

Thanks for the Feedback
First off, I’d like to thank you for your thoughts on the series. The Virtual Seasons have been in production for almost two years, and I’d say only about a dozen people have provided feedback. Positive or negative, it's always welcome.

However, the only episode I’m sure that you’re referring to is the Season Three Premiere, New Beginnings. The idea of Stone and Ash conceiving a child together is not mentioned in the first thirteen episodes; neither is the idea of him developing his Hellish powers. However, I’d like to point out how many long running shows have strayed far from their first episodes. Off the top of my head, I remember a first season Homer Simpson pawning the family TV set to pay for therapy, and Daphne Moon from Fraiser constantly flaunting her psychic powers in the early days. If virtual seasons were limited to recycling what had been done before, they would be uninspired indeed.

You make references to storylines being ‘too cheesy’; if you have more specific feedback or suggestions about the different episodes, I invite you to contact the authors – it will be appreciated. Speaking only for myself, I’d never even COMPLETED a story of any significant length until penning ‘An Army of One’, I’d like to think that my writing has improved since then.

And there is the Brimstone first season itself. The thing that made me a fan for life was the episode ‘Ashes’, where Ash was first revealed as a damned. My awe for that story arc blinded me to some of the flaws in the first season, which are apparent to anyone who has watched it several times. Most notably, the date of Stone’s death changes several times through out the short run, as well as him paying $62.50 for a hotel room in the pilot, when he supposedly only starts out with $36.27 each day.

Thanks for taking the time to visit the site.

thanks for checking us out
Thanks for taking the time to read through our episodes. Sorry they weren't to your liking. We're all great fans of the show, and do this out of our admiration for what Cy Voris and Ethan Reiff produced back in 1998/99. I know what you mean by being cautious of fan fic, and I wish we could have pleased your personal tastes better. We all have our own take on how Brimstone could and should have progressed if it had remained on FOX. We here at the Brimstone VS have been lucky enough to glean a little insight to the direction it was destined to continue on, directly from the creators themselves. Let me assure you there were many changes on the horizon. Who's to say the show itself wouldn't have lost a few fans given the alterations that were going to take place? Even the writing staff disagrees now and again about things like dialogue and plot devices -- but the final result is what we all want to present in OUR version of the continued stories of Stone and Company. It passes through each of us for review, and we all have a chance to voice our opinions. And we're grateful to you for making yours heard as well. Come back and see us again, and maybe there'll be something more to your liking in the near future.

Best to you,

Phil Gee
