Safety...
I recall seeing a TV item a couple of years ago about a group of war refugees from Kosovo arriving in this country (New Zealand.) There was a snippet showing them walking from their temporary hostel to get on a bus. The bus backfired and half of them 'hit the ground' just out of habit.

Personally I'm pretty cool with living in a country where my neighbours aren't automatically armed to the teeth and where cellphones are far more commonplace than guns. I'd be interested in opinions on this issue both from NZers/Ockers and those of you from the USA.
