The 'wizard' waited a short distance from the line of taskmasters, dressed the same, he had signalled the telepath boy to come to him and waited for Rico to find him, his motives for doing this purely his own, purely Drow intentions.

Rico looked at the wizard <Yes I did, and I must tell you thank you for focusing my powers more than I have ever been able to myself> and with this he gave a sort of smirk, keeping his mind blank just because he knew that it wouldn't do any good to try to get a plan, the wizard would just hear it.

The Drows hood tipped to one side slightly, folds of black fabric bunching with the movement. <That is to be expected, a mental blast cripples the mind for a time but once it recovers it is stronger, more opened than before.> The voice no longer cut into Rico's mind, it was simply there.

Rico looked at the wizard curiously,wondering where he was going with this. He answered <Well yes......I do like this ability>
Rico was still glancing around, wondering why the wizard had pulled him away from the rest of the group. He also was aware of the slavemasters in the area, cautiously eyeing their whips.

<You mean, its possible to acheive more?> Rico's eyes opened at this point. He wanted to be able to use him power more. It was be extremely useful. But he wasn't trusting of this wizard, why should he be? The drow had kidnapped all the students, they had certainly proven themselves untrustworty. But a small part of Rico still wanted to learn to use his power.
Rico then focused on what the wizard had just said "your eyes are weak boy, do not use them for this". Rico closed his eyes, using his mind to reach out and pull the surrounding area into his head, and he was suprised that he could see it just as well as when he had his eyes open.

The Drows extended senses felt his mental expansion, he strengthened the screen around his mind from reflex when dealing with another of his kind. His hidden mental grin growing as he picked up the thoughts of Rico.

Rico was suprised. This was not a Drow and(comma) while he was working with them(comma) that raised the level of trust a small amount. Rico smiled as he asked the next thing.Rico was always craving power(comma) something to put him above others.But was it worth it to trust this person. Then again(comma) Rico knew that this person could hear his thoughts so he said simply.

His eyes, gleaming jewels of yellow by now closed behind the shadows, drawing his mind into total focus, he could feel the desire flowing through RIco's mind, feel it held back only by his lack of trust. <i do child, I know all>
His eyes @#%$ lightly, eyelids resting against each other loosely he stepped closer, comgin to stand right before Rico, allowing the novice to feel the power of his mind, feel it as an ocean alongside a pond.
<look around, you can see the Drow, their whips, their weapons. You can see those you would call peers begging for mercy at thier hands. You can see also that man Tehr, you are just beginning this path or you should be able to see the confusion in his mind right now, you should be able to pick out his every thought and examine it.>
He stopped, drawing the strength he had 'revealed' back into himself. <you already know what we are, already feel the difference between you and the people you live with. Try and answer yourself what we are.> That same slow seductive thought.

Rico focused his mind on the first part,ignoring trying to search the wizard's mind for what they were.His mind expanded itself even further. Taking in thoughts of children and slavemasters alike, then blocking them out until he found the one he was searching for. Tehr was with Celest and Ryleigh, and Rico could hear the questions running though his mind. He could see how Tehr questioned the two of them so often, usually asking the same questions, always getting the same response. Rico's mind gently slid into Tehr's, probing around until Rico sensed the bit of fear that Tehr locked away. Rico smiled and slowly focused his attention back on the wizard
<I see now that these drow aren't all they make themselves out to be. But why help them?>
Rico turned his focus on the wizards mind but to his dismay the wizard had somehow put up a mental barrier, preventing Rico from getting in.

The Drow Telepath allowed himself a mental smile, this boy was good, a quick understudy, a fast learner with an excellent mind, and he was his. He drew his focus around, folding the barrier he had felt being probed, drawing it back and subtley allowing his access to one thought, if Rico was willing to try another probe. He created and allowed to be seen a feeling of joy, joy that he had found someone out there that was like him, and desire, a strong desire to help this boy through such a difficult time.
Emotions he created, exaggerating greatly and twisting them from their original, true, thoughts that still sat in the total safety of his shielding.
<And your humans, are they really any better? cowering as they are, most refusing to help others because of the pain it will bring to them? How many have helped you in your life Rico? how many have understood you as I understand you?>
He paused mentally, answering Rico's actual question
<I help them because they provide me with safety, security, alone and misunderstood our kind are mistreated, here though, they still fear me, still fear us, yet they will do nothing because they fear so much, and they need, the leaders need me, and they pay me well with a level of protection from those that would try and hurt what they know is superior and can cause them great harm.>

Rico pulled back from his probing for a bit, but then resumed it and found he could sense a bit. He sensed Joy, the joy felt when a long lost brother or sister is found. Rico sensed this and then started to feel it himself. He shared something with this wizard, something he had never shared with anyone else. He also sensed the desire to help. Rico knew he needed help.
He replied simply

Knowing everything that passed through Rico's mind the telepath mentally cracked his neck

He sent tiny tendrils reaching through his mind, picking up his memories with delicate care, remaining unnoticed as the boy had his mind extended out to look around with his thought. Pre-occupied as he was the novice would not notice the master at work. And he found what he wanted.
<You know, your headmistress knew, she offered help didn't she? just like all others of her sort, offering the aid and then never delivering. Her husband could have taught you well, helped you with your loss and your confusion, eased the pain you felt. But he never did, did he.> He drew the tendrils out and away with slick smoothness, his rummaging unknown.
<But me, I shall help you child, the most difficult learning step, the most painful and the greatest leap of your life. You have already gone through that, and it was painful for me to perform, but necessary as I am sure you now see. Your second lesson is far easier on you, if you would receive it?>

A million thoughts raced through Rico's mind. All of them somehow related to dissapointments in Rico's life, whether they had been his parents, friends, whoever, they seemed to stick out more now.A bit of rage grew inside Rico, and when the wizard mentioned how Carmilla could have helped him, the rage grew. He looked at the other students, then back at himself. He felt like he was different, not part of them. He looked back at the wizard with rage in his eyes.

The telepath could have leapt into the air with glee, he had judged this one well, and now it was time to show him more of what he could do.
<The mind of any person is naturally weak, open and vulnerable. This is why you can hear the thoughts of everyone, this is why you feel pain and confusion when surrounded. Because of their weakness and their inferiority to us. Your lack of training was the only reason the wizard picked you up, we can block our thoughts, we can contain them and only one of our kind can ever hear them, ever know what we are.>
He stopped a moment, knowing full well where this other person was but using it as a lesson
<A Telepath can always find another, if not through their thoughts, then through the absence of their thoughts as they block them. There is another here, in with those creatures, though I am not certain which one it is, human thoughts are confusing to me. Relax your mind and drift over them, find that mind that is similar to ours and bring it here.>

Rico nodded and pushed his mind over the students. He searched each one running through thier minds. There was no absence of thought, he didn't expect there to be, if he wasn't trained the this other student wasn't either. He found memoies and thoughts of what he was looking for though. It was in Emma's mind.

He had been right, this boy was strong, he had potential, a lot of it. Trained right he could stand to gain a lot from this fortunate discovery.

Rico nodded, both physically and mentally. He waited for Emma to come to them, but as he waited, he was busy probing the minds of the slavemasters. He may trust this wizard, but he would never trust them, and it was good to have an advantage over them, atleast right now. He searched through their thoughts, picking up useless facts, and other things of no importance, mostly for his own amusement. He could see how this would be useful at all times, and he waited patiently for Emma to come over.
(so yea I know its her turn and we are waiting for her but why not have a little fun )

He bent the shield around his true thoughts some more, allowing a mental smile of warmth to be felt coming from him, making it seem still as though that was all he was feeling.
